A rapid and practical method for direct detection of zidovudine in high performance anion exchange chromatography （HPAEC） has been developed with integrated pulsed amperometric detection （IPAD）. Dionex AS18 （250mm × 2mm） and AG18 （50 mm× 2 mm） columns and 11 mmol/L NaOH solution were used for separation. Multi-step potential waveform parameters were optimized to maximize the signal-to-noise ratio （S/N）. Utilizing an optimized waveform, the repeatability （intra-day） precision and intermediate （inter-day） precision are obtained with relative standard deviation （RSD） of 1.88, 2.27, respectively. The limit of quantification （LOQ） and limit of detection （LOD） were found to be 9.70, 3.0 ng/mL, respectively, with correlation coefficients of 0.9992 over concentration range 0.01-10 μg/mL. The present method was successfully applied to the determination of zidovudine in human plasma. The recoveries of plasma sample spiked by 0.7 μg/mL, 2.7 μg/mL obtained were 95.3-101.5%, with relative standard deviation （RSD） of 2.54%, 2.21%, respectively.

BACKGROUND Few studies have addressed the question of which drain types are more beneficial for patients with pancreatic trauma(PT).AIM To investigate whether sustained low negative pressure irrigation(NPI)suction drainage is superior to closed passive gravity(PG)drainage in PT *** PT patients who underwent pancreatic surgery were enrolled consecutively at a referral trauma center from January 2009 to October *** primary outcome was defined as the occurrence of severe complications(Clavien-Dindo grade≥Ⅲb).Multivariable logistic regression was used to model the primary outcome,and propensity score matching(PSM)was included in the regression-based sensitivity *** In this study,146 patients underwent initial PG drainage,and 50 underwent initial NPI suction *** the entire cohort,a multivariable logistic regression model showed that the adjusted risk for severe complications was decreased with NPI suction drainage[14/50(28.0%)vs 66/146(45.2%);odds ratio(OR),0.437;95%confidence interval(CI):0.203-0.940].After 1:1 PSM,44 matched pairs were *** proportion of each operative procedure performed for pancreatic injury-related and other intra-abdominal organ injury-related cases was comparable in the matched *** suction drainage still showed a lower risk for severe complications[11/44(25.0%)vs 21/44(47.7%);OR,0.365;95%CI:0.148-0.901].A forest plot revealed that NPI suction drainage was associated with a lower risk of Clavien-Dindo severity in most *** This study,based on one of the largest PT populations in a single high-volume center,revealed that initial NPI suction drainage could be recommended as a safe and effective alternative for managing complex PT patients.

Experiments were carried out in 1994 - 1998 to study crop rotation and its effects on crop water consumption characteristics of field with sandy chestnut soil in the Plateau of north Hebei Province. Five crops including spring wheat, oat, pea, flax and potato were examined. There was little difference in field water consumption among the crops during the growing season. WUE varied significantly in a range of 1. 347 -11.177kg · ha-1 · mm-1 among crops and 11.44% - 46.66% among previous crops. It was pointed out that the land equivalent ratio (LER) can be used as an index to evaluate the biological effects of crop rotation comprehensively. The 2-4 year crop rotation patterns with higher LER were estimated in the paper.

Background Excessive iodine intake and viral infection are recognized as both critical factors associated with autoimmune thyroid diseases. Toll-like receptors （TLRs） have been reported to play an important role in autoimmune and inflammatory disorders. In this study, we aimed to clarify the possible mechanism of TLR3 involved in polyinosine- polycytidylic acid （poly（I：C）） promoting excessive iodine intake induced thyroiditis in non-obese diabetic （NOD） mice. Methods Both NOD and BALB/c mice were randomly assigned to four groups： control group （n=5）, high iodine intake （HI） group （n=7）, poly（I：C） group （n=7） and combination of excessive iodine and poly（l：C） injection （HIP） group （n=7）. After 8 weeks, mice were weighed and blood samples were collected. All the mice were sacrificed before dissection of spleen and thyroid gland. Then, thyroid histology, thyroid secreted hormone, expression of CD3＋ cells and TLR3 as well as inflammatory mRNA level were evaluated. Results Both NOD and BALB/c mice from HI and HIP group represented goiter and increasing thyroid relative weight. Thyroid histology evidence indicated that only HIP group of NOD mice showed severe thyroiditis with lymphocytes infiltration in majority of thyroid tissue, severe damage of follicles and general fibrosis. Immunofiuorescence staining results displayed a large number of CD3~ cells in HIP NOD mice. Real-time polymerase chain reaction （PCR） results suggested interferon （IFN）-a increased over 30 folds and IFN-y expression was doubled compared with control group, but interleukin （IL）-4 remained unchanged in HIP group of NOD mice thyroid. Meanwhile, over one third decrease of blood total thyroxine （TT4） and increased thyroid-stimulating hormone （TSH） was observed in HIP group of NOD mice. Only HIP group of NOD mice represented significantly elevation of TLR3 expression. Conclusion Poly（l：C） enhanced excessive dietary iodine induced thyroiditis in NOD mice through increasing TLR3 mediated inflammation.

Persephin, together with glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor and neurturin, has a neurotrophic effect and promotes the survival of motor neurons cultured in vitro. In this study, dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra of rats were transfected with the Persephin gene. One week later 6-hydroxydopamine was injected into the anterior medial bundle to establish a Parkinson＇s disease model in the rats. Results found that the number of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra increased, tyrosine hydroxylase expression was upregulated and concentrations of dopamine and its metabolites in corpus striatum were increased after pretreatment with Persephin gene. In addition, the rotating effect of the induced Parkinson＇s disease rats was much less in the group pretreated with the Persephin gene. Persephin has a neuroprotective effect on the 6-hydroxydopamine-induced Parkinson＇s disease through protecting dopaminergic neurons.
