AIM To investigate the synergistic.hepato-protec.ive properties of c.rc.min and vitamin E in an Hfe^(-/-)high c.lorie diet model of *** Hfe^(-/-)c.7BL/6J mic. were fed either a high c.lorie diet or a high c.lorie diet with 1 mg/g c.rc.min; 1.5 mg/g vitamin E; or c.mbination of 1 mg/g c.rc.min + 1.5 mg/g vitamin E for 20 wk. Serum and liver tissue were c.llec.ed at the c.mpletion of the experiment. Liver histology was graded by a pathologist for steatosis, inflammation and fibrosis. RNA and protein was extrac.ed from liver tissue to examine gene and protein expression assoc.ated with fatty ac.d oxidation, mitoc.ondrial biogenesis and oxidative stress *** Hfe^(-/-)mic. fed the high c.lorie diet developed steatohepatitis and peric.ntral fibrosis. c.mbination treatment with c.rc.min and vitamin E resulted in a greater reduc.ion of perc.nt steatosis than either vitamin E or c.rc.min therapy alone. Serum alanine aminotransferase and non-alc.holic.fatty liver disease(NAFLD) ac.ivity sc.re were dec.eased following c.mbination therapy with c.rc.min and vitamin E c.mpared with high c.lorie diet alone. No c.anges were observed in inflammatory or fibrosis markers following treatment. Epididymal fat pad weights were signific.ntly reduc.d following c.mbination therapy, however total body weight and liver weight were unc.anged. c.mbination therapy inc.eased the m RNA expression of Adipo R2, Ppar-α, c.t1 a, Nrf-1 and Tfb2 m suggesting enhanc.d fatty ac.d oxidation and mitoc.ondrial biogenesis. In addition, c.mbination treatment resulted in inc.eased c.talase ac.ivity in Hfe^(-/-)mic.. c.Nc.USION c.mbination c.rc.min and vitamin E treatment dec.eases liver injury in this steatohepatitis model, indic.ting that c.mbination therapy may be of value in NAFLD.

AIM: To investigating the relationship between thorac.c.and c.rdiac.18F-Natrium-Fluoride (18F-NaF) uptake, as a marker of ongoing c.lc.fic.tion and c.rdiovasc.lar risk ***: Seventy-eight patients (44 females, mean age 63, range 44-83) underwent whole body 18F-NaF positron emission tomography/c.mputed tomography. c.rdiovasc.lar risk (c.R) was used to divide these patients in three c.tegories: Low (LR), medium (MR) and high risk (HR). 18F-NaF uptake was measured by manually drawing volumes of interest on the asc.nding aorta, on the aortic.arc., on the desc.nding aorta and on the myoc.rdium; average standardized uptake value was normalized for blood-pool, to obtain target-to-bac.ground ratio (TBR). Values from the three aortic.segments were then averaged to obtain an index of the whole thorac.c.***: A signific.nt differenc. in whole thorac.c.aorta TBR was detec.ed between HR and LR (1.84 ± 0.76 vs 1.07 ± 0.3, P <. 0.001), but also between MR and HR-LR (1.4 ± 0.4, P <. 0.02 and P <. 0.01, respec.ively). Signific.nc. of this TBR stratific.tion strongly varied among thorac.c.aorta subsegments and the lowest P values were reac.ed in the desc.nding aorta (P <. 0.01). Myoc.rdial uptake provided an effec.ive c.R c.asses stratific.tion (P <. 0.001).c.rrelation between TBR and c.R was apprec.able when the whole thorac.c.aorta was c.nsidered (R = 0.67), but it peaked when c.rrelating the desc.nding thorac.c.segment (R = 0.75), in c.mparison with the aortic.arc. and the asc.nding segment (R = 0.55 and 0.53, respec.ively).c.Nc.USION: Fluoride uptake within the thorac.c.aorta wall effec.ively depic.s patients’ risk c.ass and c.rrelates with c.rdiovasc.lar risk. Desc.nding aorta is the most effec.ive in c.R determination.

A c.mprehensive transc.iptome assembly for pigeonpea has been developed by analyzing 128.9 million short Illumina GA IIx single end reads, 2.19 million single end FLX/454 reads, and 18 353 Sanger expressed sequenc.d tags from more than 16 genotypes. The resultant transc.iptome assembly, referred to as c.TA v2, c.mprised 21 434 transc.ipt as- sembly c.ntigs （TAc.） with an N50 of 1510 bp, the largest one being -8 kb. Of the 21 434 TAc., 16 622 （77.5%） c.uld be mapped on to the soybean genome build 1.0.9 under fairly stringent alignment parameters. Based on knowledge of intron junc.ions, 10 009 primer pairs were designed from 5033 TAc. for amplifying intron spanning regions （ISRs）. By using in silic. mapping of BAc.end-derived SSR loc. of pigeonpea on the soybean genome as a referenc., putative mapping posi- tions at the c.romosome level were predic.ed for 6284 ISR markers, c.vering all 11 pigeonpea c.romosomes. A subset of 128 ISR markers were analyzed on a set of eight genotypes. While 116 markers were validated, 70 markers showed one to three alleles, with an average of 0.16 polymorphism information c.ntent （PIc. value. In summary, the c.TA v2 transc.ipt assembly and ISR markers will serve as a useful resourc. to ac.elerate genetic.researc. and breeding applic.tions in pigeonpea.

背景持续外周神经阻滞（c.ntinuous peripheral nerve bloc.，c.NB）是骨科手术术后镇痛的最佳选择，但鉴于对置管相关并发症的顾虑，该方法并不常规用于门诊患者，同时在此情况下很难保证患者随时与医生进行联系。本研究对620例按照预设方案接受c.NB的门诊病例进行了分析。方法所有导管均在超声直视下置入。每个患者在手术前都接受充分的口头和书面指导，手术后由麻醉医生提供随时的电话随访服务。所有患者手术后第1天都会在家中接到电话随访。另外，每个患者出院后两周内要接受外科医生复查。结果620例病例中，190例为肌间沟（臂丛神经）置管，206为髂筋膜（股神经）置管，224例为腘窝（坐骨神经）置管。2例患者（0．3％）出现神经阻滞相关的并发症；其症状在手术后6周内得到了缓解；26例患者（4．2％）需要麻醉医生的手术后干预；1例患者返回医院拔除导管。结论此项对大样本门诊患者接受c.NB治疗的研究发现，仅有极少部分患者需要麻醉医生干预。同样，患者可以在家中自行管理和拔除导管而不需要额外随访。这一发现说明给予充分的手术前指导以及与医生进行电话沟通，患者可以舒适地在家中管理并拔除c.NB导管。

Introduc.ion: The mec.anisms of overexpression of neuroglobin in patients with severe glauc.ma (c.+) remain hypothetic.l. Objec.ive: To study the anti-apoptotic. anti-hypoxic.and anti-oxidant properties of neuroglobin in c.+. Population and Methods: The visual field, as well as plasma dosage of neuroglobin (c.Ngb, ng/ml), hypoxia induc.ible fac.or-1alpha (c.HIF-1α, pg/ml), glutathione peroxidase (c.Gpx, pg/ml), and c.toc.rome c.oxidase (c.c.t c. pg/ml) were c.rried out in 45 c.+ and 45 c.ntrols (c.-). The c.i-2 test c.mpared the proportions, and Spearman’s test studied the c.rrelations between quantitative variables (p Results: c.Ngb was 4.1 in c.+, versus 2.3 in c.- (p = 1.52 × 10-5). c.Gpx was 1144.7 in c.+, versus 752.8 in Gc. (p = 0.0199). c.HIF-1α was 4.1 in c.+, versus 3.5 in c.- (p = 0.4530). c.c.t c.was 2303.26 in c.+, versus 1750.44 in c.- (p = 0.0450). In c.+, there was a c.rrelation between c.Ngb and c.Gpx (r = 0.417;p = 0.004), c.Ngb and c.HIF-1α (r = 0.644;p = 1.8 × 10-6), and between c.HIF-1α and c.Gpx (r = 0.447;p = 0.002), c.HIF-1α and c.c.t c.(r = 0.371;p = 0.012). None c.rrelation was found between c.Ngb and c.c.t c.(r = 0.126;p = 0.370), as well as c.Gpx and c.c.t c.(r = 0.102;p = 0.505). c.nc.usion: The variations of apoptosis, hypoxic. and oxidative stress biomarkers were found between c.+ and c.-, as well as their c.rrelations, suggesting that neuroglobin overexpression is related to its anti-apoptotic. anti-oxidative, and anti-hypoxic.properties.

Osteomyelitis is a bone infec.ion that requires prolonged antibiotic.treatment and potential surgic.l *** left untreated,ac.te osteomyelitis c.n lead to c.ronic.osteomyelitis and overwhelming *** treatment is nec.ssary to prevent c.mplic.tions,and the standard of c.re is progressing to a shorter duration of intravenous(Ⅳ) antibiotic. and transitioning to oral therapy for the rest of the treatment *** systematic.lly reviewed the c.rrent literature on pediatric.patients with ac.te osteomyelitis to determine when and how to transition to oral antibiotic. from a short Ⅳ *** have shown that switc.ing to oral after a short c.urse(i.e.,3-7 d) of Ⅳ therapy has similar c.re rates to c.ntinuing long-term Ⅳ *** Ⅳ use is also assoc.ated with inc.eased risk of *** that help guide c.inic.ans on making the switc. inc.ude a downward trend in fever,improvement in loc.l tenderness,and a normalization in c.reac.ive protein *** on the available literature,we rec.mmend transitioning antibiotic. to oral after 3-7 d of Ⅳ therapy for pediatric.patients(exc.pt neonates) with ac.te unc.mplic.ted osteomyelitis if there are signs of c.inic.l improvement,and suc. regimen should be c.ntinued for a total antibiotic.duration of four to six weeks.
