Reciprocal inhibition of expression between RAV1 and BES1 modulates plant growth and development in Arabidopsis

RAV1(Related to ABI3/VP1)is a plant-specific B3 and AP2 domain-containing transcription factor that acts as a negative regulator of growth in many plant *** expression of RAV1 is downregulated by brassinosteroids(BRs);large-scale transcriptome analyses have shown that the expression of RAV1 was previously targeted by BRI1-EMS-SUPPRESOR1(BES1)and BRASSINAZOLE-RESISTANT1(BZR1),which are critical transcription factors for the BR-signaling *** RAV1-overexpressing transgenic plants,we showed that RAV1 overexpression reduced the BR signaling capacity,resulting in the downregulation of BR biosynthetic genes and BES1 ***,we demonstrated that BES1,not BZR1,is directly bound to the RAV1 promoter and repressed RAV1 expression,and vice versa;RAV1 is also bound to the BES1 promoter and repressed BES1 *** mutual inhibition was specific to RAV1 and BES1 because RAV1 exhibited binding activity to the BZR1 promoter but did not repress BZR1 *** observed that constitutively activated BR signaling phenotypes in bes1-D were attenuated by the repression of endogenous BES1 expression in transgenic bes1-D plants overexpressing ***-sequencing analysis of RAV1-overexpressing transgenic plants and bes1-D mutant plants revealed differentially expressed genes by RAV1 and BES1 and genes that were oppositely co-regulated by RAV1 and ***1 and BES1 regulated different transcriptomes but co-regulated a specific set of genes responsible for the balance between growth and *** results suggested that the mutual inhibitory transcriptional activities of RAV1 and BES1 provide fine regulatory mechanisms for plant growth and development.

Etching characteristics and surface modification of InGaSnO thin films under Cl_(2)/Ar plasma

Indium gallium tin oxide(IGTO)thin films have the potential for high mobility and lowtemperature processing,which makes them suitable for applications such as display backplanes and high-voltage switching ***,very few studies have investigated the plasmaetching characteristics of IGTO and changes in its properties after *** this study,the etching characteristics of IGTO were investigated using Cl_(2)/Ar plasma,and changes in surface properties were *** showed that the etch rate increased with an increase in the proportion of Cl_(2),with the highest etch rate observed at 69 nm min^(-1)in pure Cl_(2)plasma with a gas flow rate of 100 ***,increased radio-frequency power caused a rise in the etch rate,while a process pressure of 15 m Torr was *** primary etching mechanism for IGTO thin films under Cl_(2)plasma was a chemical reaction,and an increased work function indicated the occurrence of defects on the *** addition,the etching process reduced the surface roughness of Cl_(2)-containing plasma,whereas the etching process in pure Ar plasma increased surface *** study contributes to a better understanding of the plasmaetching characteristics of IGTO and changes in its properties after etching,providing valuable insights for IGTO-based applications.

Polyherbal formula SC-E3 inhibits rheumatoid arthritis activity in a mouse model of type-Ⅱcollagen-induced arthritis

Objective:SC-E3 is a polyherbal formula that contains five medicinal herbs used frequently in traditional herbal *** our previous study,we demonstrated the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of *** present study examined the effects of SC-E3 in a mouse model of type-II collagen-induced arthritis(CIA).Methods:In vivo,male DBA/1 J mice were immunized by intradermal injection of bovine type-II collagen and complete or incomplete Freund’s adjuvant,to induce ***-E3 was orally administered daily for 23 *** vitro,bone marrow-derived macrophages(BMMs)were treated with macrophage colony-stimulating factor(M-CSF)and receptor activator of nuclear factor-j B ligand(RANKL)in the absence or presence of ***:Administrations of SC-E3 were found to have anti-arthritic effects in the joints of CIA mice,as evidenced by reduced paw swelling,bone erosion and deformation,inflammatory cell infiltration,and inflammation in synovial ***-E3 also reduced serum levels of tumor necrosis factor-a,interleukin-1 b,aspartate aminotransferase and alanine ***,tartrateresistant acid phosphatase-positive osteoclast numbers in the joints were significantly lower in SC-E3-treated CIA mice than in CIA *** addition,the differentiations of BMMs to multinucleated osteoclasts induced by M-CSF and RANKL stimulation were dose-dependently reduced by ***:These results suggest that SC-E3 possesses substantial anti-arthritic activity because it inhibits pro-inflammatory cytokines and osteoclastogenesis,and that SC-E3 has potential therapeutic use for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.

The Spatial Effects of Antenna Configuration in a Large Area Inductively Coupled Plasma System for Flat Panel Displays

Spatial distributions of plasma parameters such as electron density, electron temperature and electric potential were investigated using a commercial simulation software （COMSOLTM） to predict the effects of antenna configuration in a large area inductively cou- pled plasma （ICP） system for flat panel displays. Nine planar antenna sets were evenly placed above a ceramic window. While the electron density was influenced by both the input current and gas pressure, the electron temperature and electric potential were dominantly affected by the gas pressure.

Outcome of transarterial chemoembolization-based multi-modal treatment in patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma

AIM:To investigate the efficacy and safety of transarterial chemoembolization(TACE)-based multimodal treatment in patients with large hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).METHODS:A total of 146 consecutive patients were included in the analysis,and their medical records and radiological data were reviewed ***:In total,119 patients received TACE-based multi-modal treatments,and the remaining 27 received conservative *** survival(P<0.001)and objective tumor response(P=0.003)were significantly better in the treatment group than in the conservative *** subgroup analysis,survival benefits were observed not only in the multi-modal treatment group compared with the TACE-only group(P=0.002)but also in the surgical treatment group compared with the loco-regional treatment-only group(P<0.001).Multivariate analysis identified tumor stage(P<0.001)and tumor type(P=0.009)as two independent pre-treatment factors for *** adjusting for significant pre-treatment prognostic factors,objective response(P<0.001),surgical treatment(P=0.009),and multi-modal treatment(P=0.002)were identified as independent post-treatment prognostic ***:TACE-based multi-modal treatments were safe and more beneficial than conservative *** surgery after successful downstaging resultedin long-term survival in patients with large,unresectable HCC.

Photoacoustic microscopy(PAM)has become a premier microscopy tool that can provide the anatomical,functional,and molecular information of animals and humans in ***,conventional PAM systems suffer from limited temporal and/or spatial ***,we present a fast PAM system and an agent-free localization method based on a stable and commercial galvanometer scanner with a custom-made scanning mirror(L-PAM-GS).This novel hardware implementation enhances the temporal resolution significantly while maintaining a high signal-to-noise ratio(SNR).These improvements allow us to photoacoustically and noninvasively observe the microvasculatures of small animals and humans in ***,the functional hemodynamics,namely,the blood flow rate in the microvasculature,is successfully monitored and quantified in *** importantly,thanks to the high SNR and fast B-mode rate(500 Hz),by localizing photoacoustic signals from captured red blood cells without any contrast agent,unresolved microvessels are clearly distinguished,and the spatial resolution is improved by a factor of 2.5 in ***-GS has great potential in various fields,such as neurology,oncology,and pathology.

Design of 512-bit logic process-based single poly EEPROM IP

A single poly EEPROM cell circuit sharing the deep N-well of a cell array was designed using the logic process. The proposed cell is written by the FN tunneling scheme and the cell size is 41.26 μm2, about 37% smaller than the conventional cell. Also, a small-area and low-power 512-bit EEPROM IP was designed using the proposed cells which was used for a 900 MHz passive UHF RFID tag chip. To secure the operation of the cell proposed with 3.3 V devices and the reliability of the used devices, an EEPROM core circuit and a DC-DC converter were proposed. Simulation results for the designed EEPROM IP based on the 0.18μm logic process show that the power consumptions in read mode, program mode and erase mode are 11.82, 25.15, and 24.08 ~tW, respectively, and the EEPROM size is 0.12 mm2.

Establishment of a prediction tool for ocular trauma patients with machine learning algorithm

Efficient photovoltaic effect in graphene/h-BN/silicon heterostructure self-powered photodetector

Graphene(Gr)/Si-based optoelectronic devices have attracted a lot of academic attention due to the simpler fabrication processes,low costs,and higher performance of their two-dimensional(2D)/three-dimensional(3D)hybrid interfaces in Schottky junction that promotes electron-hole ***,due to the built-in potential of Gr/Si as a photodetector,the Iph/Idark ratio is often hindered near zero-bias at relatively low illumination *** is a major drawback in self-powered *** this study,we have demonstrated a self-powered van der Waals heterostructure photodetector in the visible range using a Gr/hexagonal boron nitride(h-BN)/Si structure and clarified that the thin h-BN insertion can engineer asymmetric carrier transport and avoid interlayer coupling at the *** dark current was able to be suppressed by inserting an h-BN insulator layer,while maintaining the photocurrent with minimal decrease at near *** a result,the normalized photocurrent-to-dark ratio(NPDR)is improved more than 104 ***,both Iph/Idark ratio and detectivity,increase by more than 104 times at−0.03 V drain *** proposed Gr/h-BN/Si heterostructure is able to contribute to the introduction of next-generation photodetectors and photovoltaic devices based on graphene or silicon.
