Objective: To evaluate transperineal laser ablation (TPLA) with Echolaser® (Echolaser® TPLA, Elesta S.p.A., Calenzano, Italy) as a treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostate cancer (PCa) using the Delphi consensus ***: Italian and international experts on BPH and PCa participated in a collaborative consensus project. During two rounds, they expressed their opinions on Echolaser® TPLA for the treatment of BPH and PCa answering online questionnaires on indications, methodology, and potential complications of this technology. Level of agreement or disagreement to reach consensus was set at 75%. If the consensus was not achieved, questions were modified after each round. A final round was performed during an online meeting, in which results were discussed and ***: Thirty-two out of forty invited experts participated and consensus was reached on all topics. Agreement was achieved on recommending Echolaser® TPLA as a treatment of BPH in patients with ample range of prostate volume, from 80 mL (80%), comorbidities (100%), antiplatelet or anticoagulant treatment (96%), indwelling catheter (77%), and strong will of preserving ejaculatory function (100%). Majority of respondents agreed that Echolaser® TPLA is a potential option for the treatment of localized PCa (78%) and recommended it for low-risk PCa (90%). During the final round, experts concluded that it can be used for intermediate-risk PCa and it should be proposed as an effective alternative to radical prostatectomy for patients with strong will of avoiding urinary incontinence and sexual dysfunction. Almost all participants agreed that the transperineal approach of this organ-sparing technique is safer than transrectal and transurethral approaches typical of other techniques (97% of agreement among experts). The aim of this work is to determine the structural and optical properties of Eu-doped ZnO powders prepared by supercritical antisolvent precipitation route(SAS)and to correlate the physico-chemical features with the photocatalytic activity under UV *** and EPR spectroscopy highlight the introduction of novel defects(mainly singly and doubly ionized oxygen vacancies,and oxygen interstitials)on the Eu-doped ZnO samples,which confer higher hydrophilicity to the doped samples with respect to bare ZnO,as evidenced by FT-IR ***,photoluminescence spectra show that the presence of Eu^(3+) totally quenches the visible light emission typical of bare ZnO,which mainly results from the recombination of photogenerated holes at defective *** prepared samples were tested both for the photocatalytic degradation of crystal violet dye(CV)and for the partial oxidation of ferulic acid under UV *** photocatalytic activity results evidence of a higher ability of Eu-doped photocatalysts to degrade CV and ferulic acid,while higher selectivity values towards vanillin are obtained in the presence of bare *** higher activity of Eu-doped ZnO photocatalysts is linked to the stabilization of photogenerated holes and to their higher hydrophilicity,both brought by the generation of defective sites induced by the presence of Eu^(3+) ions within the ZnO lattice.

Aging represents an emerging challenge for public health due to the declined immune responses against pathogens, weakened vaccination efficacy, and disturbed tissue homeostasis. Metabolic alterations in cellular and systemic levels are also known to be cardinal features of aging. Moreover, cellular metabolism has emerged to provide regulations to guide immune cell behavior via modulations on signaling cascades and epigenetic landscape, and the aberrant aging process in immune cells can lead to inflammaging, a chronic and low-grade inflammation that facilitates aging by perturbing homeostasis in tissues and organs. Here, we review how the metabolic program in T cells is influenced by the aging process and how aged T cells modulate inflammaging. In addition, we discuss the potential approaches to reverse or ameliorate aging by rewiring the metabolic programming of immune cells.

The Canavese Intracontinental Suture Zone(CISZ) within the Inner Western Alps represents the remnant of a long-lived minor subduction zone involving a narrow, thinned continental crust/oceanic lithosphere seaway between two continental domains of the Adria microplate(i.e., the Sesia Zone and the IvreaVerbano Zone). As opposed to many suture zones, the CISZ mostly escaped pervasive tectonic deformation and metamorphism, thus preserving the original stratigraphy and allowing the relationships between tectonics and sedimentation to be defined. Through detailed geological mapping(1:5000 scale),structural analysis, stratigraphic and petrographic observations, we document evidences for the late Paleozoic to late Cenozoic tectonic evolution of the CISZ, showing that it played a significant role in the context of the tectonic evolution of the Inner Western Alps region from the early to late Permian Pangea segmentation, to the Jurassic Tethyan rifting, and up to the subduction and collisional stages,forming the Western Alps. The site of localization/formation of the CISZ was not accidental but associated with the re-use of structures inherited from regional-scale wrench tectonics related to the segmentation of Pangea, and from the subsequent extensional tectonics related to the Mesozoic rifting, as documented by crosscutting relationships between stratigraphic unconformities and tectonic features. Our findings document that evidences derived from stratigraphy, facies indicators, and relationships between tectonics and sedimentation in the shallow crustal portions of suture zones, such in the CISZ, are important to better constrain the tectonic history of those metamorphic orogenic belts around the world in which evolutionary details are commonly complicated by high-strain deformation and metamorphic transformations.

Planetary magnetosheaths are characterized by high plasma wave and turbulence *** Martian magnetosheath is no exception;both upstream and locally generated plasma waves have been observed in the region between its bow shock and magnetic boundary layer,its induced *** statistical study of wave activity in the Martian magnetosheath is based on 12 years(2005-2016)of observations made during Mars Express(MEX)crossings of the planet’s magnetosheath-in particular,data on electron density and temperature data collected by the electron spectrometer(ELS)of the plasma analyzer(ASPERA-3)experiment on board the MEX spacecraft.A kurtosis parameter has been calculated for these plasma *** value indicates intermittent behavior in the data when it is higher than 3(the value for a normal or Gaussian distribution).The variation of wave activity occurrence has been analyzed in relation to solar cycle,Martian orbit,and distance to the bow ***-Gaussian properties are observed in the magnetosheath of Mars on all analyzed scales,especially in those near the proton gyrofrequency in the upstream region of the Martian *** also report that non-Gaussian behavior is most prominent at the smaller scales(higher frequencies).A significant influence of the solar cycle was also observed;the kurtosis parameter is higher during declining and solar maximum phases,when the presence of disturbed solar wind conditions,caused by large scale solar wind structures,*** kurtosis decreases with increasing distance from the bow shock,which indicates that the intermittence level is higher near the bow *** the electron temperature data the kurtosis is higher near the perihelion due to the higher incidence of EUV when the planet is closer to the Sun,which causes a more extended exosphere,and consequently increases the wave activity in the magnetosheath and its upstream *** extended exosphere seems to play a lower effect in the electron den

Batch adsorption from aqueous solutions in a slightly basic medium of Methylene Blue, up to 2500 mg/L, onto synthetic magnesium silicate （Florisil） of three particle size ranges （mean diameters of 112, 200 and 425 μm） was compared to the corresponding adsorption onto activated carbon and Amberlite XAD-2. The best fit of the kinetic results was achieved by a pseudo second-order equation. The equilibrium data were found to be well represented by the Langmuir isotherm equation. Amberlite XAD-2, an unspecific adsorbent capable of adsorbing exclusively through a surface effect, exhibited a poor dye uptake, confirming that the adsorption mechanism on Florisil was due to electrostatic attraction and ion exchange. Moreover, the comparison between Florisil and the other adsorbents was performed on the basis of the evaluation of the surface area and pore volume occupied by the adsorbed dye.
