Objective This study aimed to understand the epidemic status and phylogenetic relationships of rotavirus group A(RVA)in the Pearl River Delta region of guangdong Province,*** This study included individuals aged 28 days–85 years.A total of 706 stool samples from patients with acute gastroenteritis collected between January 2019 and January 2020 were analyzed for 17 causative pathogens,including RVA,using a Gastrointestinal Pathogen Panel,followed by genotyping,virus isolation,and complete sequencing to assess the genetic diversity of *** The overall RVA infection rate was 14.59%(103/706),with an irregular epidemiological *** proportion of co-infection with RVA and other pathogens was 39.81%(41/103).Acute gastroenteritis is highly prevalent in young children aged 0–1 year,and RVA is the key pathogen circulating in patients 6–10 months of age with diarrhea.G9P[8](58.25%,60/103)was found to be the predominant genotype in the RVA strains,and the 41 RVA-positive strains that were successfully sequenced belonged to three different RVA genotypes in the phylogenetic *** analysis showed that gene reassortment events,selection pressure,codon usage bias,gene polymorphism,and post-translational modifications(PTMs)occurred in the G9P[8]and G3P[8]*** This study provides molecular evidence of RVA prevalence in the Pearl River Delta region of China,further enriching the existing information on its genetics and evolutionary characteristics and suggesting the emergence of genetic *** the surveillance of genotypic changes and gene reassortment in RVA strains is essential for further research and a better understanding of strain variations for further vaccine development.

Micro/nanorobots hold exciting prospects for biomedical and even clinical applications due to their small size and high ***,it is still a big challenge to maneuver micro/nanorobots into narrow spaces with high deformability and adaptability to perform complicated biomedical ***,we report a light-controlled soft bio-microrobots(called“Ebot”)based on Euglena gracilis that are capable of performing multiple tasks in narrow microenvironments including intestinal mucosa with high controllability,deformability and *** motion of the Ebot can be precisely navigated via light-controlled polygonal flagellum ***,the Ebot shows highly controlled deformability with different light illumination duration,which allows it to pass through narrow and curved microchannels with high *** these features,Ebots are able to execute multiple tasks,such as targeted drug delivery,selective removal of diseased cells in intestinal mucosa,as well as photodynamic *** light-controlled Ebot provides a new bio-microrobotic tool,with many new possibilities for biomedical task execution in narrow and complicated spaces where conventional tools are difficult to access due to the lack of deformability and bio-adaptability.

Dear editor,Vaccines are the most efficient and effective means to prevent infectious diseases,but improving the long-term protective efficacy is still a major challenge in contemporary vaccine development.1 The waning immunity varies depending on the diversification of the pathogen and the number of booster doses.1 Strategies to overcome this warrant is using adjuvants that amplify the immune response,and drive the production of memory B and T cells or long-lived plasma cells that recognize the pathogen for durable protection.2–4 Although existing adjuvants have achieved promising results,research on generating durable protective immunity is lacking in promoting vaccine development and staying ahead of global pandemics such as coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).The precisely designed nanoadjuvants can enhance lymph node targeting and increase antigenpresenting cell(APCs)uptake,achieving the co-delivery of adjuvants and antigens and activating innate and adaptive immune responses.5 Previously,we reported a manganese nanoadjuvant(MnARK)and receptor-binding domain(RBD)monomer antigen formulated nanovaccine.6 MnARK transported antigens to lymph nodes,activated the STING pathway,elicited strong neutralizing abilities and increased immune memory T cell percentage against the infection of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2).6 Regarding the long-term protection potential of MnARK for subunit vaccine development,we further explored the durable immune regulation abilities of MnARK to a SARS-CoV-2 RBD dimer antigen,which has been used in an approved COVID-19 subunit vaccine ZF2001 with aluminum adjuvant(alum).7,8 TEM result revealed that RBD dimer could interact with BSA on MnARK surface and epitope can be well preserved(Supplementary Fig.1a).The size and zeta potential of MnARK-RBD dimer nanovaccine was~58 nm and-14 mV,respectively(Supplementary Fig.1b,c).

Mediating Role of Glucose-Lipid Metabolism in the Association between the Increased Risk of Coronary Heart Disease and Exposure to Organophosphate Esters,Phthalates,and Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons

There is a lack of human evidence concerning the cardiovascular effects of combined exposure to endocrine *** case-control study sought to investigate coronary heart disease(CHD)associations with exposure to organophosphate flame retardants(OFRs),phthalates(PAEs),and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)among 148 adults with coronary-angiography-diagnosed CHD and 320 healthy adults from southern *** mediating role of glucose-lipid metabolism was also *** kernel machine regression suggested that when exposure status was fixed to the 75th percentile with the median value as the reference,exposure to OFRs,PAEs,and PAHs was associated with an 84%(95%CI:36%−134%),132%(12%−252%),and 214%(89%−331%)increased risk of developing CHD,*** quantile sum regression indicated urinary bis(2-butoxyethyl)phosphate(BBOEP),dibutyl phosphate(DBP),monoisononyl phthalate(miNP),and metabolites of phenanthrene may be major contributors to the overall effect of *** further analyses on identified chemical risk factors,mediation analyses suggested exposure to phenanthrene may increase the risk of CHD via elevating total cholesterol and blood glucose,while exposure to DiNP mainly associates with serum ***,we observed a slight mediation effect of oxidative DNA damage between urinary BBOEP and risk of *** results provide potential direction for further experimental *** evidence is needed to clarify the causation of the results.

Background The prospective association of dietary thiamine intake with the risk of cognitive decline among the general older adults remains *** To investigate the association between dietary thiamine intake and cognitive decline in cognitively healthy,older Chinese *** The study included a total of 3106 participants capable of completing repeated cognitive function *** nutrient intake information was collected through 3-day dietary recalls and using a 3-day food-weighed method to assess cooking oil and condiment *** decline was defined as the 5-year decline rate in global or composite cognitive scores based on a subset of items from the Telephone Interview for Cognitive *** The median follow-up duration was 5.9 *** was a J-shaped relationship between dietary thiamine intake and the 5-year decline rate in global and composite cognitive scores,with an inflection point of 0.68 mg/day(95%confidence interval(Cl):0.56 to 0.80)and a minimal risk at 0.60-1.00 mg/day of dietary thiamine *** the inflection point,thiamine intake was not significantly associated with cognitive *** the inflection point,each unit increase in thiamine intake(mg/day)was associated with a significant decrease of 4.24(95%Cl:2.22 to 6.27)points in the global score and 0.49(95%Cl:0.23 to 0.76)standard units in the composite score within 5 years.A stronger positive association between thiamine intake and cognitive decline was observed in those with hypertension,obesity and those who were non-smokers(all phealthy,older Chinese individuals,with an inflection point at 0.68 mg/day and a minimal risk at 0.60-1.00 mg/day of dietary thiamine intake.

Polarizers have always been an important optical component for optical engineering and have played an indispensable part of polarization imaging *** polarizers provide an excellent platform to achieve miniaturization,high resolution,and low cost of polarization imaging ***,we proposed freeform metasurface polarizers derived by adjoint-based inverse design of a full-Jones matrix with gradient-descent *** designed multiple freeform polarizers with different filtered states of polarization(SOPs),including circular polarizers,elliptical polarizers,and linear polarizers that could cover the full Poincaré*** that near-unitary polarization dichroism and the ultrahigh polarization extinction ratio(ER)reaching 50 d B were achieved for optimized circular *** multiple freeform polarizers with filtered polarization state locating at four vertices of an inscribed regular tetrahedron of the Poincarésphere are designed to form a full-Stokes parameters micropolarizer *** work provides a novel approach,we believe,for the design of meta-polarizers that may have potential applications in polarization imaging,polarization detection,and communication.

We report the development of a head-mounted photoacoustic fiberscope for cerebral imaging in a freely behaving *** 4.5-gram imaging probe has a 9-µm lateral resolution and 0.2-Hz frame rate over a 1.2-mm wide *** probe can continuously monitor cerebral oxygenation and hemodynamic responses at single-vessel resolution,showing significantly different cerebrovascular responses to external stimuli under anesthesia and in the freely moving *** example,when subjected to high-concentration CO_(2) respiration,enhanced oxygenation to compensate for hypercapnia can be visualized due to cerebral regulation in the freely moving *** studies exhibit significantly weakened compensation capabilities in obese *** new imaging modality can be used for investigating both normal and pathological cerebrovascular functions and shows great promise for studying cerebral activity,disorders and their treatments.
