Pancreatic cancer（PCA） is one of the most aggressive tumors with few effective treatment modalities. It is the 4th and 7th leading cause of cancer death in the United States and China, respectively. At the time of diagnosis, only 20% of cases present with a resectable tumor, and about 40% with a locally advanced tumor that is considered unresectable. Even resected patients still have a poor prognosis, with an incidence of local recurrence ranging from 20% to 60%. It is also reported that up to 30% of PCA patients die from locally obstructive disease with few or no distant metastases. These findings have highlighted the importance of local radiation therapy in the treatment of PCA. As the role of conventional chemoradiotherapy remains controversial, the dawn of the pancreas stereotactic body radiation therapy（SBRT） era represents a potential paradigm shift in the management of PCA. SBRT delivers a higher biological effective dose to the tumor with sharp dose escalation in a shorter treatment time course. Pancreas SBRT is a novel therapeutic option to achieve local tumor control with minimal toxicity. Herein, we review the advancement of SBRT for PCA patients with different stages of pancreatic adenocarcinoma.

Radiotherapy techniques have substantially improved in the last two decades. After the introduction of 3-dimensional conformal radiotherapy, radiotherapy has been increasingly used for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). Currently, more advanced techniques, including intensity-modulated radiotherapy(IMRT), stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy(SABR), and charged particle therapy, are used for the treatment of HCC. IMRT can escalate the tumor dose while sparing the normal tissue even though the tumor is large or located near critical organs. SABR can deliver a very high radiation dose to small HCCs in a few fractions, leading to high local control rates of 84%-100%. Various advanced imaging modalities are used for radiotherapy planning and delivery to improve the precision of radiotherapy. These advanced techniques enable the delivery of high dose radiotherapy for early to advanced HCCs without increasing the radiation-induced toxicities. However, as there have been no effective tools for the prediction of the response to radiotherapy or recurrences within or outside the radiation field, future studies should focus on selecting the patients who will benefit from radiotherapy.

We reported the synthesis,single crystal structure,and solid-state UV-Vis-NIR spectroscopy of a new transplutonium metal-organic framework(MOFs),Am(H_(2)O)[PO[(C6H4)COO]_(3)],denoted as AmTPO(TPO=tris(4-carboxylphenyl)-phosphineoxide).AmTPO forms a three-dimensional metal-organic framework structure with americium dimers as the secondary building *** 5f→5f transi-tions attributed to trivalent americium was observed in the absorption spectrum of AmTPO ranging from 300 to 1200 ***,AmTPO can maintain the crystallinity with no observable structural degradation within several months after being synthesized,re-vealing a long-term radiation resistance of this structure and the potential application of MOFs as a platform for nuclear waste dis-posal.

Stealth technology plays an important role in modern military conflicts, especially when used in fighter jets. Since airfoil structures have a leading edge, inlet, and surface bulge that are easily detected by radar, it is necessary to study the stealth of these structures. In this study,we investigate structures coated with radionuclides to generate plasma. Using simulation and calculation methods, the attenuation of 0.1–10 GHz electromagnetic waves propagating in plasma was studied. The results showed that the attenuation of low-frequency electromagnetic waves is greater than that of high-frequency electromagnetic *** attenuation of 0.1–1 GHz electromagnetic waves is found to be less than-2.7 d B,-3.0 d B, and-15.6 d B at the airfoil leading edge, inlet, and surface bulge structures, respectively. We also found that the attenuation of electromagnetic waves with 0°-incidence is greater than that of waves with 10°, 20°, and 30° incidence ***, the attenuation of electromagnetic waves decreases gradually as the incident angle increases.

Objective： In this study, we examine the effects of recombinant adenovirus-p53 （rAd-p53） on the pancreatic carcinoma cell line SW1990. Specifically, we determine if expression of rAd-p53 sensitizes these cells to radiation. Methods： Following transfection of SW1990 cells with rAd-p53, we measured expression of P53, P21 and Bax by immunocytochemistry. Both transfected and control cell lines were irradiated with a range of doses, and the survival fractions （SF） were calculated. Dose survival cttrves were constructed and modeled for comparison. Results： Transfection of SW1990 cells with rAd-p53 resulted in increased expression of P53, P21 and Bax in a time-dependent manner. At 96 h after transfection, 89.92% of cells expressed P53, 56.8% expressed P21, and 76.50% expressed Bax. The SF following radiation was lower in the rAd-p53 transfected cells compared to the control cells, suggesting that rAd-p53 sensitizes SW1990 cells to radiation （Do for the experimental and control groups was 2.199 and 2.462, respectively）. Conclusions： Use of the adenoviral vector is an effective means of transfecting SW1990 cells with wild-type P53, and this sensitizes the cell line to irradiation. This work suggests that combining rAd-p53 with radiation therapy in pancreatic cancer may be therapeutically beneficial.

A Putative NES Mediates Cytoplasmic Localization of Apoptin in Normal Cells

Apoptin, a protein expressed by chicken anemia virus, is found predominantly in the cytoplasm in normal cells, whereas it localizes in the nucleus in transformed and malignant cells. However, the mecha- nisms that regulate the different subcellular localization of Apoptin in normal and tumor cells have not been fully clarified. In this work, a putative nuclear export signal (NES) in Apoptin was predicted. It was testified that the putative NES (pNES) of Apoptin was not a functional NES, but actually acted as a cytoplasmic retention signal. Deletion of the pNES led to the nuclear accumulation of Apoptin in normal cells. In addition, when a strong nuclear localization signal was introduced into Apoptin, it exclusively translocated to the nucleus in normal cells. These observations indicated that the cytoplasmic localization of Apoptin in normal cells results from the balance between cytoplasmic retention and nuclear import. On the other hand, the pNES was also proved to be necessary for Apoptin multimerization. Mutants lacking the pNES did not form obviously visible globular aggregates in normal or tumor cells.

The aim of this study was to examine the prognostic factors and treatment outcomes of cervical esophageal carcinoma(CEC)patients who underwent definitive chemoradiotherapy(CRT).The clinical data of 175 biopsyconfirmed CEC patients treated with definitive CRT between April 2005 and September 2021 were retrospectively *** prognostic factors predicting overall survival(OS),progression-free survival(PFS),and local recurrence-free survival(LRFS)were assessed in uni-and multivariable *** median age of the entire cohort was 56 years(range:26–87 years).All patients received definitive radiotherapy with a median total dose of 60 Gy,and 52%of the patients received cisplatin-based concurrent *** 2-year OS,PFS,and LRFS rates were 58.8%,46.9%,and 52.4%,respectively,with a median follow-up duration of 41.6 ***’performance status,clinical nodal stage,tumor size,and treatment response were significant prognostic factors for OS,PFS,and LRFS in univariate ***-complete treatment response was an independent predictor for poor OS(HR=4.41,95%CI,2.78–7.00,pradiation doses were found to have no effect on treatment outcomes,but a better response to treatment and a better patient performance status did.

Study on healthcare level and its relationship with medical radiation in China

Objective:To evaluate the health-care level(HCL),one of the most extensively used indicators to assess the level of medical exposure,and its influencing factors in ***:Based on the data from the China Statistical Yearbook of the National Bureau of Statistics and other public documents,HCL was calculated in terms of the number of physicians per head of population throughout the *** linear regression was used to analyze the association of HCL with main socioeconomic factors,including population size,area,number of administrative divisions and gross domestic product(GDP).Results:Since 2015,there has been at least one physician for every 1,000 people in China on ***,by 2019,there has yet been one physician for more than 1,000 people in each of two *** 2020,there was at least one physician for every 1,000 people across all 31 provincial-level administrative districts(provinces).The population size and GDP were the influencing factors on HCL,with correlation coefficients of 0.416 and-0.583,***,a moderate correlation was found between HCL and the frequency of medical exposure(FME)to ionizing radiation(r=-0.620,P=0.028).Conclusion:There has been at least one physician for every 1,000 people since 2015,but there are great differ-ences between various *** as an indicator to evaluate level of medical exposure is warranted further research in China.
