This study investigated the effects of small interfering RNA （siRNA）-mediated silencing of chemokine receptor 4 （CXCR4） on the invasion capacity of human neuroblastoma cell line SH-SY5Y in vitro. Three siRNAs targeting CXCR4 were chemically synthesized and individually transfected into SH-SY5Y cells. Expression of CXCR4 mRNA and protein was signiifcantly sup-pressed in transfected cells by all three sequence-speciifc siRNAs compared with control groups. Furthermore, the invasion capacity of SH-SY5Y cells was signiifcantly decreased following trans-fection with CXCR4-speciifc siRNA compared with the control groups. These data demonstrate that down-regulation of CXCR4 can inhibit in vitro invasion of neuroblastoma.

Sodium-ion batteries （SIBs） with organic electrodes are an emerging research direction due to the sustainability of organic materials based on elements like C,H,O,and sodium ***,organic electrode materials for SIBs are mainly used as cathodes because of their relatively high redox potentials（>1 V）.Organic electrodes with low redox potential that can be used as anode are ***,a novel organic anode material （tetrasodium 1,4,5,8-naphthalenetetracarboxylate,Na4TDC） has been developed with low redox potential （operating voltage （2.8 V）,excellent rate performance and cycling stability with a high capacity retention of 88.7% after 200 cycles,well highlighting the Na4TDC anode material for SIBs.

Lateral ventricular meningiomas（LVMs） are especially rare,and they often remain “silent” until they become very large. Several surgical approaches exist,but the optimal surgical strategy for them remains a challenge. The incidence,clinical features,radiological manifestations,pathological findings,and especially the surgical strategy in 21 patients with LVMs were analyzed retrospectively. The mean age of patients was 42.7 years（range,17 to 78 years）. Raised intracranial pressure was the main presenting symptom. The definite diagnosis of LVMs in most cases was made by computed tomography（CT） or magnetic resonance imaging（MRI）. Six patients were subjected to plain CT scans,15 to contrast MR scans,and 4 to a magnetic resonance angiogram（MRA）. Large tumors were seen in most cases with an average diameter of more than 4.3 cm. Of the 21 cases of LVMs in our series,LVMs were resected in 16 cases via a posterior parieto-occipital transcortical approach,2 cases via a transcallosal approach,and 3 cases via a posterior middle temporal gyrus approach. In 8 out of 21 cases,the tumors were located in the left lateral ventricle. The gross total surgical excision was achieved in 18（86%） patients,and all LVMs were pathologically confirmed to be benign. Nine patients were followed up（range： 11 months–4.6 years）. Eight（88.9%） cases obtained good recovery and one（11.1%） obtained moderate disability. Four approaches are available for the surgical treatment of LVMs. The choice of surgical approaches depends on tumor location,laterality,size and extension,and the function of the brain must be taken into account. Intracapsular resection and piecemeal resection of LVMs can be safely and easily performed. Preoperative MRA scan is important to know the feeder of LVMs and peripheral blood supply.

By using distraction osteogenesis technique, 3 cases of mandibular hypoplasia were treat ed by home made and German made jaw distractors: including one patient suffered from bilateral ankylosis of temporo mandibular joint and 2 patients from deficiency of mandible. The duration of distraction osteogenesis was one month. The bone distractor was removed 3 months after operation. Satisfactory results were obtained in all 3 cases. Distraction osteogenesis can successfully be used in mandibular functional reconstruction and has much more advantages than traditional technique.

AIM To explore the effect of miR-382 on esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) in vitro and its possible molecular mechanism. METHODS Eca 109 cells derived from human ESCC and Het-1A cells derived from human normal esophageal epithelium were used. Lentivirus-mediated miR-382 was overexpressed in Eca109 cells. The effect of miR-382 on cell proliferation was evaluated by MTT and colony formation assay. For cell cycle analysis, cells were fixed and stained for 30 min with propidium iodide (PI) staining buffer containing 10 mg/mL PI and 100 mg/mL RNase A, and analyzed by BD FACSCalibur (TM) flow cytometer. For cell apoptosis assay, cells were stained with an Annexin V-FITC/PI Apoptosis Detection Kit according to the manufacturer's instructions and analyzed by a dual-laser flow cytometer. Cell invasion and migration abilities were determined through use of transwell chambers, non-coated or pre-coated with matrigel. Levels of proteins related to cell growth and migration were examined by western blotting. RESULTS Endogenous miR-382 was down-regulated in Eca109 cells compared with Het-1A. Introduction of miR-382 not only significantly inhibited proliferation and colony formation, but also arrested cell cycle at the G2/M phase, as well as promoted apoptosis and autophagy in Eca109 cells. Migration, invasion and epithelial-mesenchymal transition of Eca109 cells were suppressed by overexpressing miR-382. Western blotting results showed that miR-382 inhibited the phosphorylation of mTOR and 4E-BP1. CONCLUSION miR-382 functions as a tumor suppressor against ESCC development and metastasis, and could be considered as a potential drug source for the treatment of ESCC patients.

BACKGROUND Hand-assisted laparoscopic splenectomy(HALS) can help overcome the drawbacks of laparoscopic splenectomy(LS) while maintaining its *** To evaluate the efficacy and advantages of HALS for *** The relevant literature was reviewed using the PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane,Ovid Medline, and Wanfang databases to compare the clinical outcomes of HALS and LS. Odds ratios or mean differences were calculated with 95% confidence intervals for fixed-effects and random-effects models. Overall, 754 patients from16 trials who met the inclusion criteria were *** In pure splenectomy, blood loss volume(P < 0.001) and conversion rate(P =0.008) were significantly lower in the HALS group than in the LS ***, for splenomegaly, the operative time(P = 0.04) was shorter and blood loss volume(P < 0.001) and conversion rate(P = 0.001) were significantly lower in the HALS group than in the LS group. However, no significant difference was observed in hospital stay length, blood transfusion, time to food intake, complications, or mortality rate between the two groups. Moreover, in splenectomy and devascularization of the upper stomach(DUS), the operative time(P = 0.04) was significantly shorter and blood loss volume(P < 0.001) andconversion rate(P = 0.05) were significantly lower in the HALS + DUS group than in the LS + DUS group. However, no significant difference was observed in hospital stay length, timing of diet, and complications between the two *** HALS is an ideal surgical treatment method for splenomegaly because it can maximize the benefits for patients while maintaining the advantages of LS.

The effect of ginsenoside Rb 1 on cardiomyocyte apotosis after ischemia (30 min ) and reperfusion (6 h) in rats was observed. The ischemia/ reperfusion heart mo del was established by ligating left anterior descending branch of coronary arte ry in Wistar rats. The apoptotic cardiomyocytes were examined under transmission electron microscopy and counted by in situ nick end labeling (TUNEL) method and light microscopy. Results showed that (1) The apoptotic cardiomyocytes were found in ischemic regions in the ischemia/reperfusion group, but not in the sh am oper ating group under transmission electron microscopy; (2) The number of apoptotic cells were 134.45±45.61/field in the ischemia/reperfusion group, 0/field in the sham operating group and 51.65±13.71/field in the ginsenoside Rb 1 treated group. The differences were significant among the three groups ( P <0.01). It was concluded that myocardial ischemia reperfusion could induce cardiomyocyte a poptosis, and ginsenoside Rb 1 could significantly inhibit cardiomyocyte apopto sis induced by ischemia reperfusion in rats, indicating that ginsenoside Rb 1 could inhibit cardiomyocyte apoptosis induced by ischemia reperfusion, thus alleviating ischemia reperfusion injury.

Objective:To investigate the effect of anesthesia on the cognitive status damage and MMP-2expression in ***:A total of 120 healthy rats were selected and randomly divided into the control group,CF3-CH(OCH2F)-CF3(Sevoflurane)group and CF3-CH2-O-CHF-CF3group(Sevoflurane)(n=40).After training for 3 d by the Morris water maze,the control group were injected with fentanyl for analgesia,the CF3-CH(OCH2F)-CF3 group and the CF3-CH2-O-CHFCF3 group were anesthesia with CF3-CH(OCH2F)-CF3 and CF3-CH2-O-CHF-CF3 on the basis of fentanyl,then rats in three groups underwent open surgery and suture conventional *** water maze was used to measure the rats cognitive ability in three groups on the 1st d,3rd d,5th d and 7th d,and the brain tissue MMP-2 expression was ***:After1 d/7 d of the surgery,Morris water maze performance and MMP-2 expression were not significantly different among three groups(P>0.05);After 3 d/5 d of the surgery,compared with the control group,the Morris water maze test result was significantly worsened,MMP-2expression levels were significantly increased(P<0.05);After 3 d/5 d of the surgery,compared with the CF3-CH2-O-CHF-CF3 group,Morris water maze test result of CF3-CH(OCH2F)-CF3group was significantly worsened,MMP-2 expression levels were significantly increased(P<0.05).Conclusions:Anesthesia can cause some injury on cognitive status,different anesthetic drugs may cause different injury,and the cognitive status injury is related to the MMP-2 expression.
