NAND-SPIN-based processing-in-MRAM architecture for convolutional neural network acceleration

The performance and efficiency of running large-scale datasets on traditional computing systems exhibit critical bottlenecks due to the existing “power wall” and “memory wall” problems. To resolve those problems, processing-in-memory(PIM) architectures are developed to bring computation logic in or near memory to alleviate the bandwidth limitations during data transmission. NAND-like spintronics memory(NAND-SPIN) is one kind of promising magnetoresistive random-access memory(MRAM) with low write energy and high integration density, and it can be employed to perform efficient in-memory computation operations. In this study, we propose a NAND-SPIN-based PIM architecture for efficient convolutional neural network(CNN) acceleration. A straightforward data mapping scheme is exploited to improve parallelism while reducing data movements. Benefiting from the excellent characteristics of NAND-SPIN and in-memory processing architecture, experimental results show that the proposed approach can achieve ～2.6× speedup and ～1.4× improvement in energy efficiency over state-of-the-art PIM solutions.

Ag/γ-Al2O3 is a kind of promising catalyst with the relatively lower cost compared with those using noble metals,good resistance against catalytic poisoning and excellent behaviour for NOx *** the present study,Ag/γ-Al2O3 catalysts were synthesized by the solvothermal process and characterized by XRD,TG?DTA,TEM,UV?Vis and FT?*** was found that high-performance Ag/γ-Al2O3 catalysts could be synthesized by properly selecting starting materials,controlling the composition of solvent and other reaction *** microstructure evolution of the catalysts was also discussed.

The Early Cretaceous terrestrial revolution involved global shifts from gymnosperm-to angiosperm-dominated ***,responses of insect herbivores to these changes remain *** evaluated 2176 highly sampled plant specimens representing 62 species/morphotypes from the 126 Ma Dawangzhangzi plant assemblage of Northeastern *** study consisted of horsetails,ferns,ginkgoaleans,czekanowskialeans,conifers,and an *** herbivory was evaluated by the functional feeding groups of hole feeding,margin feeding,and surface feeding(ectophytic feeders);piercer and suckers,and ovipositing insects(ectoendophytic feeders);mining,galling,and borings(endophytic feeders);and pathogens,collectively constituting 65 damage types(DTs).The plant assemblage was assessed for herbivory richness by DT richness,component community structure,and DT specialization on plant hosts;for herbivory intensity,it was evaluated for DT frequency,herbivorized surface area,and feeding event *** feeding event occurrences,the data supported seven species/morphotypes as most intensely herbivorized:Liaoningocladus boii(76.6%),Czekanowskia sp.1(8.4%),Czekanowskia rigida(4.10%),Lindleycladus lanceolatus(3.5%),Ginkgoites sp.2(2.0%),Podozamites sp.1(1.1%),and Solenites sp.1(0.9%).The most herbivorized taxa were pinaleans(conifers),then czekanowskialeans,and lastly ginkgoaleans;the monodominant component community was the conifer Liaoningocladus *** host specialization levels were *** plant assemblage had an overall low 0.86%of foliage removed by herbivores,explained by physical and chemical antiherbivore defenses,and parasitoid *** Paleozoic,gymnosperm-dominated assemblages had greater herbivory,component community structure of the three most herbivorized taxa are more similar to modern bracken fern and willow than modern gymnosperm taxa.

Piezoelectric nanogenerators(NGs)have been developed for converting mechanical energy into electric energy using ZnO,GaN,ZnSnO3,and PZT *** to the unique polarity and non-central symmetry of the wurtzite structure,a composite made of using the conical shaped nanowires are used as a simple,cost-effective,and scalable *** on the finite element methods,the output voltage of the nanogenerator is modeled *** key factors:the spatial location of nanowires,length and dip angle of nanowires,thickness of NG devices,and the physical properties of the polymer inside NGs,which affect the output voltage are *** results provide guidance for optimization the output of piezoelectric nanogenerators.

X-ray Talbot-Lau interferometer has been used most widely to perform x-ray phase-contrast imaging with a con- ventional low-brilliance x-ray source, and it yields high-sensitivity phase and dark-field images of samples producing low absorption contrast, thus beating tremendous potential for future clinical diagnosis. In this work, by changing the accel- erating voltage of the x-ray tube from 35 kV to 45 kV, x-ray phase-contrast imaging of a test sample is performed at each integer value of the accelerating voltage to investigate the characteristic of an x-ray Talbot-Lau interferometer （located in the Institute of multidisciplinary Research for Advanced Materials, Tohoku University, Japan） versus tube voltage. Ex- perimental results and data analysis show that within a range this x-ray Talbot-Lau interferometer is not sensitive to the accelerating voltage of the tube with a constant fringe visibility of ~ 44%. This x-ray Talbot-Lau interferometer research demonstrates the feasibility of a new dual energy phase-contrast x-ray imaging strategy and the possibility to collect a refraction spectrum.

INTRODUCTIONThe prevalence of hyperuricenlia （HUA） has increased in China in the recent years in relation to socioeconomic developments and changing lifestyles and diets, with a trend toward onset at younger age. HUA has become the second most common metabolic disease after diabetes mellitus. Like gout, HUA is also associated with the occurrence and progression of disorders of the urinary, endocrine, metabolic, cardio-cerebrovascular, and other systems.

A new device has been realized using flip-chip joining two printed circuit boards(PCBs) on which zinc oxide(ZnO) nanowires were synthesized. Energy dispersive X-ray measurement has been conducted for the ZnO nanowires, confirming that Cu elements have been diffused into the nanowires during the chemical growth process. From I-V measurements, this Cu/ZnO nanowire/Cu structure exhibits a resistive tuning behaviour, which varies greatly with the frequency of the applied sinusoidal source.

The outflow problem for the viscous two-phase flow model in a half line is investigated in the present *** existence and uniqueness of the stationary solution is shown for both supersonic state and sonic state at spatial far field,and the nonlinear time stability of the stationary solution is also established in the weighted Sobolev space with either the exponential time decay rate for supersonic flow or the algebraic time decay rate for sonic flow.
