Association of vitamin d and polymorphisms of its receptor with antiviral therapy in pregnant women with hepatitis B

Lactoferrin is a multifunctional protein that exhibits anti-inflammatory,immune regulating and anti-infective *** of its receptor sites is located on severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus *** binding of lactoferrin with heparin sulfate proteoglycans may prevent the first contact between the virus and host cells,thus preventing subsequent *** that lactoferrin may act as a natural mucosal barrier,an intranasal treatment together with its oral intake can be hypothesized to prevent the spread,infection and inflammation caused by coronavirus disease 2019(COVId-19).Moreover,the literature reports that vitamin d plays an essential role in promoting immune *** its antiinflammatory and immunoregulatory properties,vitamin d is critical for activating the immune system’s defenses,improving immune cell *** studies also demonstrate that lactoferrin is a potential activator of the vitamin d *** this sense,the combined use of lactoferrin(through an association of oral intake and a nasal spray formulation)and vitamin d could represent a valuable therapy for COVId-19 treatment and ***,further randomized clinical trials are needed before recommending/prescribing them.

High prevalence of vitamin d insufficiency in Chinese children with upper limb fractures

Hepatitis C infected patients need vitamin d3 supplementation in the era of direct acting antivirals treatment

It has been reported that the serum level of vitamin d3(Vit d3) could affect the natural course of chronic hepatitis C(CH-C) and the response to treatment with pegylated interferon(Peg-IFN) and ribavirin. Although several mechanisms for the favorable effects of Vit d3 supplementation were reported, the total effect of Vit d3 supplementation remains unclear. Previously, we reported that supplementation with 1(OH)Vit d3 could enhance the Th1 response inducing not only a favorable immune response for viral eradication but also HCC control. Recently, the main treatment of CH-C should be direct acting antivirals(dAAs) without PegIFN. Peg-IFN is a strong immune-modulator. Therefore, an immunological analysis should be carried out to understand the effect of Vit d3 after treatment of dAAs without Peg-IFN. The induction of a favorable immune response by adding Vit d3 might be able to suppress the hepatocarcinogenesis after achieving SVR, especially in children and elderly patients with severe fibrosis lacking sufficient amounts of Vitd 3.

There have been few studies on the association between vitamin d levels and gastric cancer in Asian populations,but no studies have been performed on the interactions between vitamin d intake and polymorphisms in the vitamin d *** effects of vitamin d intake,vitamin d related genetic polymorphisms,and their association with the incidence of gastric cancer were investigated in a hospital case-control study,including 715 pairs of newly diagnosed gastric cancer patients and controls matched for age and *** between vitamin d intake and plasma vitamin d concentrations were also assessed in a subset of *** statistically significant difference was observed in the dietary intake of vitamin d between the patients and controls,nor were there any evident associations between vitamin d intake and risk of gastric cancer in multivariate *** d intake significantly correlated with the circulating 25-hydroxyvitamin d levels,but not with the active form of the vitamin,1,25-dihydroxyvitamin *** were no statistically significant interactions between vitamin d intake,and VdR or TXNIP *** study suggests that dietary vitamin d intake is not associated with gastric cancer risk,and the genetic polymorphisms of vitamin d-related genes do not modulate the effect of vitamin d with respect to gastric carcinogenesis.
