In this review, we outline the major neural plasticity mechanisms that have been identified in the adult central nervous system （CNS）, and offer a perspective on how they regulate CNS function. In particular we examine how myelin plasticity can operate alongside neurogenesis and synaptic plasticity to influence information processing and transfer in the mature CNS.

Objective:To determine the adult emergence inhibition（EI） and adulticidal activities of hexane,chloroform,ethyl acetate,and acetone leaves extracts of Anisomeles malabarica（A. malabarica）,Euphorbia hirta（E,hirta）,Ocimum basilicum（***）,Ricinus communis（R. communis）,Solanum trilobatum（***）,Tridax procumbens（***） and seeds of Gloriosa superba（***） against Anopheles stephensi（An,stephensi）.Methods:The EI and adulticidal trials were carried out according to World Health Organization（WHO） procedures with slight *** extracts were diluted in dimethyl sulphoxide in order to prepare a serial dilution of test dosages（15.625,31.25,62.5,125,250,500 and 1 000μg/mL）.Five duplicate trials were carried out for every sample concentration,and for each trial a negative control was included and the mortality was determined after 24 h of ***:The highest EI activity was found in ethyl acetate extracts of A malabarica,chloroform extracts of ***, ***,acetone of extract of ***,***,and seed extract of *** with EI50 values 143.12,119.***.157.87,139.39,111.19,and 134.85μg/mL,and the effective adulticidal activity was observed in chloroform,acetone extracts of ***,***,R. communis,*** and ethyl acetate extract of *** with LD50 values 120.17,108.77, 127.22,163.11,118.27,and 93.02μg/mL,***-square value was significant at Padulticidal properties when isolated in pure form.

Lycium barbarum is a widely used Chinese herbal medicine prescription for protection of optic ***,it remains unclear regarding the effects of Lycium barbarum polysaccharides,the main component of Lycium barbarum,on in vivo proliferation of adult ciliary body *** this study,adult rats were intragastrically administered low-and high-dose Lycium barbarum polysaccharides（1 and 10 mg/kg）for 35 days and those intragastrically administered phosphate buffered saline served as *** number of Ki-67-positive cells in rat ciliary body in the Lycium barbarum polysaccharides groups,in particular low-dose Lycium barbarum polysaccharides group,was significantly greater than that in the phosphate buffered saline ***-67-positive rat ciliary body cells expressed nestin but they did not express glial fibrillary acidic *** findings suggest that Lycium barbarum polysaccharides can promote the proliferation of adult rat retinal progenitor cells and the proliferated cells present with neuronal phenotype.

Background:The prognostic values of interim and post-therapy fluorine-18-fluorodeoxyglucose(^(18)F-FDG) positron emission tomography(PET) and PET/computed tomography(CT) scanning have been confirmed in several subtypes of ***,its prognostic value in Burkitt's lymphoma has not been clearly *** aim of the present study was to assess the prognostic value of PET/CT scanning during different treatment processes of Burkitt's ***:A total of 29 adult patients with newly diagnosed Burkitt's lymphoma were retrospectively involved in this study;of them,23 patients underwent baseline PET/CT,15 patients underwent mid-therapy PET/CT after 1-4 cycles of chemotherapy,and 17 patients underwent post-therapy PET/CT after all planned first-line chemotherapy ***-therapy and post-therapy PET/CT results(positive ***) were visually interpreted according to the criteria of the International Harmonization *** reduction in the maximum standardizes uptake values(ASUVmax)of 25%,50%,and 75%were regarded as cutoff *** survival(OS) and progression-free survival(PFS) were regarded as the major ***:The median OS and PFS were 27.6 months(range 6.5-78.3 months) and 27.2 months(range 3.0-78.3 months),*** median SUVmax of the baseline PET/CT was 18.3(range 1.6-35.9),whereas the median SUVmax of the mid-therapy and post-therapy PET/CT decreased to 4.0(range 0-17.6) and 3.0(range 0-14.5),*** patients' Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group(ECOG) scores(<2 vs.≥2) were significantly associated with the baseline PET/CT *** mid-therapy and post-therapy PET/CT results(positive ***) showed no significant association with OS or *** optimal cutoff ASUVmax from the baseline to the post-therapy PET/CT that could predict a change in OS in patients with Burkitt's lymphoma was 50%(P = 0.019).Conclusions:^(18)F-FDG uptake was intense in Burkitt's lymphoma,and there was a significant reduction in SU

Adolescence is a critical period for neurodevelopment. Evidence from animal studies suggests that isolated rearing can exert negative effects on behavioral and brain development. The present study aimed to investigate the effects of adolescent social isolation on latent inhibition and brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels in the forebrain of adult rats. Male Wistar rats were randomly divided into adolescent isolation （isolated housing, 38-51 days of age） and social groups. Latent inhibition was tested at adulthood. Brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels were measured in the medial prefrontal cortex and nucleus accumbens by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Adolescent social isolation impaired latent inhibition and increased brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels in the medial prefrontal cortex of young adult rats. These data suggest that adolescent social isolation has a profound effect on cognitive function and neurotrophin levels in adult rats and may be used as an animal model of neurodevelopmental disorders.

The elementary traits and diversity of embryonic setal patterns of 31 species of 22 genera, in three tribes of Hormaphidinae are studied. The embryonic setal patterns to every species are provided. Based on the parsimony principle and the developmental principle, these patterns are analyzed in each tribe following the terminology of Richards （1965）. It is suggested that the setal patterns of abdominal tergites are the most important characters in embryonic and adult setal patterns. In conclusion, neoteny is a phylogenetic trend in the Hormaphidinae. Nipponaphidini and Hormaphidini have more typical neoteny in each genus and more diversity in different types of adult viviparous females than Cerataphidini, by showing more frequent and various protopatterns or mesopatterns.
