d.v style="text-align:justify;"> Objective: This study was focused on depression rate and associated factors in chronic lumbosciatica in sub-Saharan African black patients. Patients and Methods: We conducted a prospective descriptive and analytical study in chronic lumbosciatica cases seen in rheumatology/internal medicine, neurology and neurosurgery departement at the Yalgado ouédraogo University Hospital Center from April 31, 2016 to July 31, 2016. The diagnosis of depression was based on Hamilton scale. Its frequency was evaluated and the associated factors were analyzed. Results: One hundred and forty-nine patients were included in the study. Their average age was 49.5 years and the sex ratio was 0.42 (44 men/105 women). Thirty-eight patients lived alone (25.5%). Pain intensity was severe in 46 patients (30.9%) and moderate in 77 patients (51.7%). Neuropathic pain was present in 108 patients (72.5%). One hundred and ten patients had depression (73.8%). Depression was severe in 38 patients (25.5%), moderate in 35 patients (23.5%), and mild in 37 patients (24.8%). Factors associated with depression were living alone (Odds-Ratio 3.5), high (Odds-Ratio 11.1) or moderate (Odds-Ratio 5.9) intensity of pain, and the presence of neuropathic pain (Odds-Ratio 2.5). Conclusion: Depression was frequent during chronic lumbosciatica in sub-Saharan African black patients. Its associated factors were living alone, presence of moderate or severe pain, and neuropathic pain. d.v>

Peripheral nerve injuries ind.ce a severe motor and.sensory d.ficit. Since the availab.lity of autologous nerve transplants for nerve repair is very limited. alternative treatment strategies are sought, includ.ng the use of tub.lar nerve guid.nce cond.its(tNGCs). However, the use of tNGCs results in poor functional recovery and.central necrosis of the regenerating tissue, which limits their application to short nerve lesion d.fects(typically shorter than 3 cm). Given the importance of vascularization in nerve regeneration, we hypothesized.that enab.ing the growth of b.ood.vessels from the surround.ng tissue into the regenerating nerve within the tNGC would.help eliminate necrotic processes and.lead.to improved.regeneration. In this stud., we reported.the application of macroscopic holes into the tub.lar walls of silk-b.sed.tNGCs and.compared.the various features of these improved.silk^(+) tNGCs with the tub.s without holes(silk^(–) tNGCs) and.autologous nerve transplants in an 8-mm sciatic nerve d.fect in rats. Using a comb.nation of micro-computed.tomography and.histological analyses, we were ab.e to prove that the use of silk^(+) tNGCs ind.ced.the growth of b.ood.vessels from the ad.acent tissue to the intraluminal neovascular formation. A significantly higher numb.r of b.ood.vessels in the silk^(+) group was found.compared.with autologous nerve transplants and.silk^(–), accompanied.b. improved.axon regeneration at the d.stal coaptation point compared.with the silk^(–) tNGCs at 7 weeks postoperatively. In the 15-mm(critical size) sciatic nerve d.fect mod.l, we again ob.erved.a d.stinct ingrowth of b.ood.vessels through the tub.lar walls of silk^(+) tNGCs, b.t without improved.functional recovery at 12 weeks postoperatively. EGR1 is essential for transcriptional regulation of b.PR2

In this stud., RLM-RACE was used.to id.ntify the transcriptional start site 387 b. upstream of the translational start. Evolutionarily conserved.transcription factor b.nd.ng sites were id.ntified. and.a series of luciferase reporter constructs d.iven b. b.PR2 promoter elements used.to d.termine their functional relevance. We found.the promoter area from 983 b. to 90 b. upstream of the transcriptional start gave maximal activity, greater than longer constructs, with an area b.tween 570 b. and.290 b. upstream of the transcriptional start containing an important repressor element. To characterize this repressor, we used.a comb.nation of EMSA, mutation of the EGR1 b.nd.ng site, transfection with EGR1 and.NAb. constructs, and.mutation of the NAb. b.nd.ng site within the EGR1 protein. From this we conclud. that EGR1 is essential to b.PR2 transcription, b.t that NAb. b.nd.ng to EGR1 causes it to act as a repressor.

b.ne wound.healing is a highly d.namic and.precisely controlled.process through which d.maged.b.ne und.rgoes repair and.complete regeneration. External factors can alter this process, lead.ng to d.layed.or failed.b.ne wound.healing. The find.ngs of recent stud.es suggest that the use of selective serotonin reuptake inhib.tors(SSRIs) can red.ce b.ne mass, precipitate osteoporotic fractures and.increase the rate of d.ntal implant failure. With 10% of Americans prescrib.d.antid.pressants, the potential of SSRIs to impair b.ne healing may ad.ersely affect millions of patients’ ab.lity to heal after sustaining trauma. Here, we investigate the effect of the SSRI sertraline on b.ne healing through pre-treatment with(10 mg·kg-1sertraline in d.inking water, n = 26) or without(control, n = 30) SSRI followed.b. the creation of a 5-mm calvarial d.fect. Animals were rand.mized.into three surgical groups:(a) empty/sham,(b. implanted.with a d.rmaMatrix scaffold.soak-load.d.with sterile Pb. or(c) d.rmaMatrix soak-load.d.with542.5 ng b.P2. SSRI exposure continued.until sacrifice in the exposed.groups at 4 weeks after surgery. Sertraline exposure resulted.in d.creased.b.ne healing with significant d.creases in trab.cular thickness, trab.cular numb.r and.osteoclast d.sfunction while significantly increasing mature collagen fib.r formation. These find.ngs ind.cate that sertraline exposure can impair b.ne wound.healing through d.sruption of b.ne repair and.regeneration while promoting or d.faulting to scar formation within the d.fect site.

Fluorination of the d.nor polymer or non-fullerene acceptor (NFA) in an organic photovoltaic d.vice is an effective method.to improve d.vice *** there have b.en many stud.es on d.nor polymer fluorination,b.end. containing b.th a fluorinated.d.nor and.fluorinated.NFA have rarely b.en *** this stud.,we use two d.nor polymers (4'-FT-HTAZ and.4'-FT-FTAZ) and.two NFAs (ITIC-Th and.ITIC-Th1) with d.fferent amounts of fluorine (from 2F to 6F) to investigate how the d.gree of fluorination in a b.end.impacts d.vice *** find.that fluorinating the NFA lead. to a higher short-circuit current d.nsity (Jsc) and.fill factor (FF),however,the open-circuit voltage (Voc) is d.creased.d.e to a d.pressed.lowest unoccupied.molecular orb.tal (LUMO) *** ad.itional fluorine to the d.nor polymer d.es not have a large effect on the Jsc or FF,b.t it d.es lead.to an improved.*** fluorinating the NFA and.having more fluorine on the d.nor polymer,we ob.ain b.th a high Jsc and.Voc simultaneously,lead.ng to a power conversion efficiency over 10% in the case of 4'-FT-FTAZ:ITIC-Th1,which has the most amount of fluorine (6F).
