Based on the Timoshenko beam theory and Bernoulli-Fourier method, a single-elastic beam model is developed for transverse vibrations of single-walled carbon nanotubes under additional axial load, which includes the effects of the elastic medium around them. Explicit expressions are derived for the natural frequencies and transversal responses of simply supported single-walled carbon nanotubes. The influence of addition axial load and the properties of elastic medium on the vibrations are discussed. The results showed that the effects of addition axial load on the lower natural frequencies of single-walled carbon nanotubes are sensitive to the lower vibration modes and the stiff elastic medium. The lower natural frequencies depend on the axial load;they become smaller with increasing axial load and vary with the vibration modes. In addition, except for the first mode, the effects of the axial load on the stiff elastic medium are considerably greater than those on the flexible one. However, the constants of the elastic medium have little effect on the first mode. The critical axial buckling stress and strain for simply-supported single-walled carbon nanotubes are also obtained.

The application of the linear guideways is very extensive, such as automation equipment, heavy-duty carry equipment, heavy-cut machining tool, CNC grinding machine, large-scale planning machine and machining center with the demand of high rigidity and heavy load. By means of the study of contact behavior between the roller/guideway and roller/slider, roller type linear guideways can improve the machining accuracy. The goal of this paper is to construct the fatigue life model of the linear guideway, with the help of the contact mechanics of rollers. In beginning, the analyses of the rigidity of a single roller compressed between guideway and slider was conducted. Then, the normal contact pressure of linear guideways was obtained by using the superposition method, and verified by the FEM software (ANSYS workbench). Finally, the bearing life theory proposed by Lundberg and Palmgren was used to describe the contact fatigue life.

BACKGROUND Although much information is available regarding hepatitis C virus infection and diabetes,less is known about the relationship between hepatitis A virus(HAV)infection and *** To examine the roles of HAV in diabetes *** This cross-sectional study population included data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey collected between *** subjects(≥20 years old)with available body mass index measurements,defined diabetes status,history of HAV vaccination,and HAV serology were *** vaccination was based on self-reported *** HAV immunization was defined as the presence of both vaccination and anti-HAV *** infection was defined by the absence of vaccination but presence of anti-hepatitis A *** odds ratio(OR)for diabetes with 95%confidence intervals(95%CI)was calculated for each HAV status and then adjusted for *** tests,based on different definitions of diabetes,were performed to verify the *** Among 19942 subjects,4229 subjects(21.21%)received HAV vaccination and HAV antibody was present in 9224 subjects(46.25%).Although HAV infection was associated with an increased risk of diabetes(OR:1.13;95%CI:1.08-1.18),HAV vaccination was not associated with diabetes(OR:1.06;95%CI:0.95-1.18),and successful HAV immunization had no impact on the risk of diabetes(OR:1.11;95%CI:0.97-1.27).Thus,HAV infection was an unlikely cause of ***,in non-vaccinated subjects,diabetes increased the risk of HAV infection by 40%(OR:1.40,95%CI:1.27-1.54).CONCLUSION An association between HAV infection and diabetes is observed which is best explained by an increased risk of HAV infection in diabetic *** subjects are more susceptible to ***,HAV vaccination is highly recommended in diabetic patients.

Hepatitis B virus （HBV） reactivation and recurrence are common in patients undergoing immunosuppression therapy. Tumor necrosis factor （TNF） blockage therapy is effective for the treatment of many autoimmune inflammatory diseases. However, the role of TNF-a blockage therapy in the innate and adaptive immune responses against HBV is still not clear. A detailed analysis of HBV infection under TNF-a blockage therapy is essential for the prophylaxis and therapy for HBV reactivation and recurrence. In this study, HBV clearance and T-cell responses were analyzed in a HBV-transfected mouse model under anti-TNF blockage therapy. Our results demonstrated that under TNF-a blockage therapy, HBV viral clearance was impaired with persistent elevated HBV viral load in a dose- and temporal-dependent manner. The impairment of HBV clearance under anti-TNF-a blockage therapy occurred at early time points after HBV infection. In addition, TNF-a blockade maintained a higher serum HBV viral load and increased the number of intrahepatic programmed cell death （PD）- 1highCD127low exhausted T cells. Furthermore, TNF-a blockade abolished Toll-like receptor 9 （TLR9） ligand-induced facilitation of HBV viral clearance. Taken together, TNF-a blockade impairs HBV clearance and enhances viral load, and these effects depend on early administration after HBV infection. Our results here demonstrate that early TNF-a blockade reduces viral clearance and persistently maintains elevated HBV viral load in a mouse model, suggesting that HBV may reactivate during theraoy with TNF-a-blocking agents.

Persistent hepatitis B virus(HBV)infection results in chronic liver diseases that may progress to chronic hepatitis,liver cirrhosis,and subsequent hepatocellular *** studies demonstrated that adaptive immunity,in particular CD8 T cells,is critical in HBV *** studies have revealed a distinct tissue-localized T cell lineage,tissue-resident memory(TRM)cells,that is crucial for protective immunity in peripheral *** this study,we showed that treatment with an anti-asialo GM1(ASGM1)antibody(Ab),which depletes NK cells,led to impairment of HBV clearance in a mouse animal ***,the ability to clear HBV was not significantly impaired in NFIL3 KO mice,which are deficient in NK cells,implying that other non-NK ASGM1-positive immune cells mediate HBV *** isolated intrahepatic ASGM1-positive cells from NFIL3 KO mice and analyzed the immune phenotype of these *** results demonstrated a distinct population of CD44+LFA-1hi CD8 T cells that were the major intrahepatic ASGM1-positive immune cells in NFIL3 KO ***,transcriptome analysis revealed that these ASGM1-positive CD8 T cells had distinct gene profiles and shared a similar core gene signature with TRM *** addition to both transcriptional and phenotypic liver residency characteristics,ASGM1-positive CD8 T cells were able to home to and be retained in the liver after adoptive *** together,our study results indicate that these ASGM1-positive liver-resident CD8 T cells are the major effector immune cells mediating anti-HBV immunity.

Using Heuristics to the Controller Placement Problem in Software-Defined Multihop Wireless Networking

Solving the controller placement problem (CPP) in an SDN architecture with multiple controllers has a significant impact on control overhead in the network, especially in multihop wireless networks (MWNs). The generated control overhead consists of controller-device and inter-controller communications to discover the network topology, exchange configurations, and set up and modify flow tables in the control plane. However, due to the high complexity of the proposed optimization model to the CPP, heuristic algorithms have been reported to find near-optimal solutions faster for large-scale wired networks. In this paper, the objective is to extend those existing heuristic algorithms to solve a proposed optimization model to the CPP in software-defined multihop wireless networking (SDMWN).Our results demonstrate that using ranking degrees assigned to the possible controller placements, including the average distance to other devices as a degree or the connectivity degree of each placement, the extended heuristic algorithms are able to achieve the optimal solution in small-scale networks in terms of the generated control overhead and the number of controllers selected in the network. As a result, using extended heuristic algorithms, the average number of hops among devices and their assigned controllers as well as among controllers will be reduced. Moreover, these algorithms are able tolower the control overhead in large-scale networks and select fewer controllers compared to an extended algorithm that solves the CPP in SDMWN based on a randomly selected controller placement approach.

Aim： To compare the results of bladder tumor associated antigen （BTA TRAK）, nuclear matrix protein 22 （NMP 22） and voided urine cytology （VUC） in detecting bladder cancer. Methods： A total of 135 elderly male and 50 healthy volunteers enrolled in this study were classified into three groups：（i） 93 patients with bladder cancer; （ii） 42 patients with urinary benign conditions; and （iii） 50 healthy volunteers. BTA TRAK and NMP 22 kits were used to detect bladder cancer. Voided urine cytology was used to compare the sensitivity and specificity of the screening tests. Results： The sensitivity and specificity of cytology, BTA TRAK and NMP 22 were 24% and 97%, 51% and 73%, 78% and 73%, respectively. The level of NMP 22 increased with tumor grading. The BTA TRAK kit has the lowest sensitivity among the screening tests. The NMP 22 with the best sensitivity can be an adjunct to cytology for evaluating bladder cancer. Conclusion： The NMP 22 test has a better correlation with the grading of the bladder cancer than BTA TRAK. As cytology units are typically not available in hospitals or in outpatient clinics, NMP 22 might be a promising tool for screening bladder cancer.

A Comparison Study of Cavitating Flow in a Ventricular Assist Device Using Laminar and Turbulent Model

The two-dimensional cavitating flow phenomena due to the valve closure in a ventricular assist device were computationally studied. This is a simplification of three-dimensional viscous effects in a ventricular valve. Both laminar flow and turbulent flow were computed and compared with each other. For computations, a dynamic mesh strategy to cope with the movement of the valve was developed. The simulation of cavitation was conducted with a model which took considerations of the first-order effect of the formation and transport of vapor bubbles, the turbulent fluctuations of pressure and velocity, and the magnitude of non-condensable gases. The turbulent flow was computed by using thek-wmodel. The results show that the local turbulence is one of the vital effects on the development of the cavitating flow. The maximum velocity at the moments of valve closure was significantly reduced in the turbulent flow modeling. Turbulence also reduces the jet intensity at the valve closure and, hence, the cavitating region on the valve. Furthermore, the results show that the turbulent flow model has a better capability for prediction of cavitation duration.
