Diverse heritage architecture characterizes Port Said in egypt,reflecting european and Arab *** Canal heritage villas comprise 25%of the total listed heritage buildings in the ***,it is important to retrofit them,aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs).By reviewing the previous literature related to the green retrofitting of heritage buildings,the(3Ts)framework can be considered a holistic framework that covers the latest trends due to its three components:targets,tools,and tasks,which help the success of the process through a holistic vision of supporting building information modeling(BIm)technologies and organizing stakeholders’*** paper aims to apply the(3Ts)framework to Suez Canal heritage villas in Port Said,*** applied study is based on how stakeholders perceive their input and decision-making,measuring the climate parameters,proposing several green retrofits,and integrating them into green *** of scenarios is conducted by utilizing the Design Builder simulation ***,the Skelion plugin calculates the photovoltaic system’s(PVs)energy *** results indicated that the total energy savings could reach approximately 12%e74%and nearly 10%e73%CO₂emissions reduction without affecting heritage values.

In this work,we report long-term trends in the abundance and breeding performance of Adélie penguins(Pygoscelis adeliae)nesting in three Antarctic colonies(i.e.,at martin Point,South Orkneys Islands;Stranger Point/Cabo Funes,South Shetland Islands;and esperanza/Hope Bay in the Antarctic Peninsula)from 1995/96 to 2022/*** yearly count data of breeding groups selected,we observed a decline in the number of breeding pairs and chicks in crèche at all colonies ***,the magnitude of change was higher at Stranger Point than that in the remaining ***,the index of breeding success,which was calculated as the ratio of chicks in crèche to breeding pairs,exhibited no apparent trend throughout the study ***,it displayed greater variability at martin Point compared to the other two colonies under *** the number of chicks in crèche of Adélie penguins showed a declining pattern,the average breeding performance was similar to that reported in gentoo penguin colonies,specifically,those undergoing a population increase(even in sympatric colonies facing similar local conditions).Consequently,it is plausible to assume a reduction of the over-winter survival as a likely cause of the declining trend observed,at least in the Stranger Point and esperanza ***,we cannot rule out local effects during the breeding season affecting the Adélie population of martin Point.

Groundwater pollution by fluoride is one of the prime concerns of the world population due to its toxicity,which results in adverse health *** this paper,we review the current scenario of the fluoride contamination of groundwater in various countries across the globe and its impact on human *** the last decade,several newly affected regions have been reported all over the world,with more than 100 countries affected by fluoride contamination in groundwater(concentration exceeding the acceptable limit of 1.5 mg/L defined by the World Health Organization).Fluoride poisoning is mainly due to the unsupervised ingestion of products for dental and oral hygiene and over-fluoridated drinking *** is estimated that more than 200 million people from different countries are affected by fluoriderelated groundwater issues and health *** highest among these are from the countries in Africa(38),Asia(28),and europe(24),followed by countries like South America(5),North America(3),and Australia(2).The source of fluoride in drinking water is primarily geogenic,together with forage,grasses and grains,tea,and anthropogenic *** countries affected were correlated with climatic zones and geological factors to gain insights into geospatial *** analyses show that most of the fluoride pollution-prone zones are located in high-grade metamorphic terranes with granitoid or alkaline intrusions,geothermal hot springs,and volcanic regions with arid or semi-arid climatic *** study also finds that children across the globe are more vulnerable than adults to fluoride *** review finds that,although there are efficient fluoride removal techniques,including filters with next-generation nanomaterials,to date,there has not been a single technique developed that can claim to be a practically robust solution for fluoride removal from drinking ***,we suggest developing next-generation filters that can retain essential miner

Single-photon laser ranging has widespread applications in remote sensing and target ***,highly sensitive light detection and ranging(lidar)has long been restricted in the visible or near-infrared *** appealing quest is to extend the operation wavelength into the mid-infrared(mIR)region,which calls for an infrared photon-counting system at high detection sensitivity and precise temporal ***,we devise and demonstrate an mIR upconversion lidar based on nonlinear asynchronous optical ***,the infrared probe is interrogated in a nonlinear crystal by a train of pump pulses at a slightly different repetition rate,which favors temporal optical scanning at a picosecond timing resolution and a kilohertz refreshing rate ***,the cross-correlation upconversion trace is temporally stretched by a factor of 2×10^(4),which can thus be recorded by a low-bandwidth silicon *** combination with the time-correlated photon-counting technique,the achieved effective resolution is about two orders of magnitude better than the timing jitter of the detector itself,which facilitates a ranging precision of 4μm under a low detected flux of 8×10^(−5) photons per *** presented mIR time-of-flight range finder is featured with single-photon sensitivity and high positioning resolution,which would be particularly useful in infrared sensing and imaging in photon-starved scenarios.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common chronic liver disease, and its prevalence is rising. NAFLD is closely associated with metabolic syndrome, with both conditions sharing common clinical characteristics such as obesity, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and hypertriglyceridemia. Several observational studies have evaluated the relationship between NAFLD and hypertension, with the overall evidence suggesting a bidirectional relationship. It is hypothesized that activation of the sympathetic nervous and renin-angiotensin systems, observed in NAFLD with or without insulin resistance promotes the development of hypertension. In patients with hypertension, activation of these systems can lead to hepatic fibrosis and progressive inflammation through increased oxidative stress and activation of hepatic stellate cells and Kupffer cells. The present review examines the pathophysiologic and clinical evidence supporting the bidirectional association between NAFLD and hypertension.

BACKGROUND Kidney transplant recipients(KTR)are at risk of severe coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)disease and mortality after severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)*** predicted that hospitalization for COVID-19 and subsequent admission to the intensive care unit(ICU)would yield worse outcomes in *** was stratified by ICU *** of interest included risk factors for ICU admission and mortality,length of stay(LOS),respiratory symptoms at admission,all-cause graft failure at the last follow-up,and death related to *** 96 KTRs were hospitalized for SARS-COV-2 infection.21(22%)required ICU *** ICU group had longer hospital LOS(21.8 vs 8.6 days,Pere more likely to experience graft failure(81%vs 31%,Pe admitted to the ICU,76%had death at last-follow up,and 71%had death related to *** factors for ICU admission included male sex(aHR:3.11,95%CI:1.04-9.34;P=0.04).Risk factors for all-cause mortality and COVID-19-related mortality included ICU admission and advanced age at SARS-CoV-2 *** was highest within a month of COVID-19 diagnosis,with the ICU group having increased risk of all-cause(aHR:11.2,95%CI:5.11-24.5;Pelated mortality(aHR:27.2,95%CI:8.69-84.9;Pmission conferred an increased risk of mortality,graft failure,and longer ***-fifth of those hospit-alized died of COVID-19,reflecting the impact of COVID-19-related morbidity and mortality among KTRs.
