Objective: To identify the influences of local and regional clim.te phenom.na on dengue transm.ssion in Lahore District of Pakistan, from.2006 to 2014. m.thods: Tim.-series m.dels were applied to analyze associations between reported cases of dengue and clim.tic param.ters. The coherence trend of regional clim.te phenom.na(IOD and ENSO) was evaluated with wavelet analysis. Results: The m.nim.m.tem.erature 4 m.nths before the dengue outbreak played the m.st im.ortant role in the Lahore District(P=0.03). A NINO 3.4 index 9 m.nths before the outbreaks exhibited a significant negative effect on dengue transm.ssion(P=0.02). The IOD exhibited a synchronized pattern with dengue outbreak from.2010 to 2012. The ENSO effect(NINO 3.4 index) m.ght have played a m.re im.ortant role after 2012. Conclusions: This study provides prelim.nary results of clim.te influences on dengue transm.ssion in the Lahore District of Pakistan. An increasing dengue transm.ssion risk accom.anied by frequent clim.te changes should be noted. Integrating the influences of clim.te variability into disease prevention strategies should be considered by public health authorities.

Prior research establishing that bone interacts in coordination with the bone m.rrow m.croenvironm.nt(Bm.E)to regulate hem.topoietic hom.ostasis was largely based on analyses of individual bone-associated cell *** advances in intravital im.ging has suggested that the expansion of hem.topoietic stem.cells(HSCs)and acute m.eloid leukem.a cells is restricted to bone m.rrow m.crodom.ins during a distinct stage of bone *** findings indicate that dynam.c bone rem.deling likely im.oses additional heterogeneity within the Bm.E to yield differential clonal responses.A holistic understanding of the role of bone rem.deling in regulating the stem.cell niche and how these interactions are altered in age-related hem.tological m.lignancies will be critical to the developm.nt of novel *** advance this understanding,herein,we provide a synopsis of the cellular and m.lecular constituents that participate in bone turnover and their known connections to the hem.topoietic ***,we elaborate on the coupling between bone rem.deling and the Bm.E in hom.ostasis and age-related hem.tological m.lignancies and after treatm.nt with bone-targeting *** then discuss unresolved questions and am.iguities that rem.in in the field.

Background： On diagnosis of hum.n im.unodeficiency virus （HIV） infection, a person m.y have been infected already for m.ny years. This study aim.d to estim.te the duration of HIV infection at the tim. of diagnosis. m.thods： Newly diagnosed HIV cases in Dehong, China, from.2008 to 2015 were studied. Duration of infection at the tim. of diagnosis was calculated using the first CD4 cell count result after diagnosis and a CD4 depletion m.del of disease progression. m.ltiple linear regression analysis was used to investigate the associated risk factors. Results： A total of 5867 new HIV cases were enrolled. Overall, m.an duration of infection was 6.3 years （95% confidence interval [CI]： 6.2, 6.5）. After adjusting for confounding, significantly shorter durations of infection were observed am.ng participants who were fem.le （beta： -0.37, 95% CI： -0.64, -0.09）, Dai ethnicity （beta： -0.28, 95% CI： -0.57, 0.01 ）, and infected through injecting drug use （beta： -1.82, 95% CI： -2.25, -1.39）. Com.ared to the hospital setting, durations were shorter for those diagnosed in any other settings, and com.ared to 2008, durations were shorter for those diagnosed all years after 2010. Conclusion： Although the reduction in duration of infection at the tim. of diagnosis observed in Dehong was significant, it m.y not have had a m.aningful im.act.

Structural distortions in nano-m.terials can induce dram.tic changes in their electronic properties. This situation is well m.nifested in graphene, a two-dim.nsional honeycom. structure of carbon atom. with only one atom.c layer thickness. In particular, strained graphene can result in both charging effects and pseudo-m.gnetic fields, so that controlled strain on a perfect graphene lattice can be tailored to yield desirable electronic properties. Here, we describe the theoretical foundation for strain-engineering of the electronic properties of graphene, and then provide experim.ntal evidence for strain-induced pseudo-m.gnetic fields and charging effects in m.nolayer graphene. We further dem.nstrate the feasibility of nano-scale strain engineering for graphene-based devices by m.ans of theoretical sim.lations and nano-fabrication technology.

Gangliocytic paragangliom.(GP) is a rare tum.r of uncertain origin m.st often located in the second portion of the duodenum. It is com.osed of three cellular com.onents: Epithelioid endocrine cells, spindlelike/sustentacular cells, and ganglion-like cells. While this tum.r m.st often behaves in a benign m.nner, cases with m.tastasis are reported. We describe the case of a 62-year-old m.le with a periam.ullary GP with m.tastases to two regional lym.h nodes who was successfully treated with pancreaticoduodenectom.. Using Pub m.d, Em.ASE, EBSCOhost m.DLINE and CINAHL, and Google Scholar, we searched the literature for cases of GP with regional lym.h node m.tastasis and evaluated the varying presentations, diagnostic workup, and disease m.nagem.nt of identified cases. Thirty-one cases of GP with m.tastasis were com.iled(30 with at least lym.h node m.tastases and one with only distant m.tastasis to bone), with age at diagnosis ranging from.16 to 74 years. Ratio of m.les to fem.les was 19:12. The m.st com.on presenting sym.tom. were abdom.nal pain(55%) and gastrointestinal bleeding or sequelae(42%). Twenty-five patients underwent pancreaticoduodenectom.. Five patients were treated with local resection alone. One patient died secondary to m.tastatic disease, and one died secondary to perioperative decom.ensation. The rem.inder did well, with no evidence of disease at follow-up from.the m.st recent procedure(except two in which residual disease was deliberately left behind). Of the 26 cases with sufficient histological description, 16 described a prim.ry tum.r that infiltrated deep to the subm.cosa, and 3 described lym.hovascular invasion. Of the specific im.unohistochem.stry staining patterns studied, synaptophysin(SYN) stained all epithelioid endocrine cells(18/18). Neuron specific enolase(NSE) and SYN stained m.st ganglion-like cells(7/8 and 13/18 respectively), and S-100 stained all spindle-like/sustentacular cells(21/21). Diabetes is a leading chronic disease of childhood and adolescence. In addition to the well-known auto-im.une, insulin-dependent diabetes m.llitus （type 1 diabetes （T 1D））, the past two decades have witnessed the em.rgence of type 2 diabetes （T2D） in children and adolescents, which previously was only seen in m.ddle-aged or older adults. One of the key com.onents of diabetes m.nagem.nt is physical activity （PA）. The beneficial effects of increased PA and decreased sedentary behavior are extrem.ly im.ortant in youth with diabetes because of the m.rkedly increased long-term.risk of cardiovascular disease in this population com.ared to persons without diabetes. This review aim. to com.rehensively sum.arize the epidem.ologic, observational research published and listed in Pubm.d between 1970 and 2012 on PA and sedentary behaviors, as well as physical fitness in children and adolescents with T1D and T2D. Additionally, we describe briefly the state of knowledge on perceived barriers of PA in persons with diabetes, with a focus on hypoglycem.a.
