Jasmonates(JAs) are phytohormones that finely regulate critical biological processes, including plant development and defense. JASmONATE ZIm-DOmAIN(JAZ) proteins are crucial transcriptional regulators that keep JA-responsive genes in a repressed state. In the presence of JA-Ile, JAZ repressors are ubiquitinated and targeted for degradation by the ubiquitin/proteasome system,allowing the activation of downstream transcription factors and, consequently, the induction of JA-responsive genes. A growing body of evidence has shown that JA signaling is crucial in defending against plant viruses and their insect vectors. Here, we describe the interaction of C2proteins from two tomato-infecting geminiviruses from the genus Begomovirus, tomato yellow leaf curl virus(TYLCV) and tomato yellow curl Sardinia virus(TYLCSaV), with the transcriptional repressor JAZ8 from Arabidopsis thaliana and its closest orthologue in tomato, SlJAZ9. Both JAZ and C2proteins colocalize in the nucleus, forming discrete nuclear speckles. Overexpression of JAZ8did not lead to altered responses to TYLCV infection in Arabidopsis;however, knock-down of JAZ8 favors geminiviral infection. Low levels of JAZ8 likely affect the viral infection specifically,since JAZ8-silenced plants neither display obvious developmental phenotypes nor present differences in their interaction with the viral insect vector. In summary, our results show that the geminivirus-encoded C2 interacts with JAZ8 in the nucleus, and suggest that this plant protein exerts an anti-geminiviral effect.

The availability of high‐strength fabrics and progress in the development of large‐scale inflatable technology made possible the creation of temporary and quickly deployable structures for protection of underground *** structures are relatively lightweight and portable,and can maintain the required rigidity while in *** benefits have prompted the development of inflatable structures for use in confined spaces,such as tunnels and large‐diameter pipes to act as barriers for containing flooding with minimal infrastructure *** work presents experimental results obtained from the evaluation of frictional characteristics of the fabric material that constitute the structural membrane of confined inflatable structures developed for protection of underground transportation tunnels and other large *** tests at coupon level and slippage tests in a reduced‐scale inflatable structure were performed in order to evaluate the frictional characteristics of Vectran *** at coupon level were performed to determine the friction coefficient for different surface types and *** with the reduced‐scale inflatable structure contributed to the understanding of the friction characteristics at system level when subjected to different pressurization or depressurization sequences designed to induce *** results indicate that friction coefficient values at coupon level are about 29 percent higher than values derived from reduced‐scale tests.

Laurel forests are quite relevant for biodiversity conservation and are among the island ecosystems most severely damaged by human *** the past,Canary laurel forests have been greatly altered by logging,livestock and *** remains of laurel forests are currently protected in the Canary Islands(Spain).However,we miss basic information needed for their restoration and adaptive management,such as tree longevity,growth potential and responsiveness to natural and anthropogenic *** dendrochronological methods,we studied how forest dynamic is related to land-use change and windstorms in two well-preserved laurel forests on Tenerife *** cores were collected from over 80 trees per stand at three stands per *** used ring-width series to estimate tree ages and calculate annual basal area increments(BAI),cumulative diameter increases,and changes indicative of released and suppressed *** tree species were found in all stands,with Laurus novocanariensis,Ilex canariensis and morella faya being the most common *** some individuals were over 100 years old,61.8%-88.9% of the trees per stand established between 1940 and 1970,coinciding with a post-war period of land abandonment,rural exodus and the onset of a tourism *** trees have shown growth rates larger than 1 cm diameter per year and most species have had increasing BAI trends over the past *** growth releases occurred after windstorms at both sites,but the effects of windstorms were site-dependent,with the 1958 storm affecting mainly the eastern tip of the island(Anaga massif)and the 1991 storm the western tip(Teno massif).Given the great ability of laurel forest trees to establish after land use cessation and to increase growth after local disturbances such as windstorms,passive restoration may be sufficient to regenerate this habitat in currently degraded areas.

Transition metal sulfides have been regarded as promising anode materials for sodium-ion batteries(SIB).However,they face the challenges of poor electronic conductivity and large volume change,which result in capacity fade and low rate *** this work,a composite containing ultrasmall CoS(~7 nm)nanoparticles embedded in heteroatom(N,S,and O)-doped carbon was synthesized by an efficient one-step sulfidation process using a Co(Salen)*** ultrasmall CoS nanoparticles are beneficial for mechanical stability and shortening Na-ions diffusion ***,the N,S,and O-doped defect-rich carbon provides a robust and highly conductive framework enriched with active sites for sodium storage as well as mitigates volume expansion and polysulfide *** anode for SIB,CoS@HDC exhibits a high initial capacity of 906 mA h g^(-1)at 100 mA g^(-1)and a stable long-term cycling life with over 1000 cycles at 500 mA g^(-1),showing a reversible capacity of 330 mA h g^(-1).meanwhile,the CoS@HDC anode is proven to maintain its structural integrity and compositional reversibility during ***,Na-ion full batteries based on the CoS@HDC anode and Na_(3)V_(2)(PO_(4))_(3)cathode demonstrate a stable cycling behavior with a reversible specific capacity of~200 m A h g^(-1)at least for 100 ***,advanced synchrotron operando X-ray diffraction,ex-situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy,and comprehensive electrochemical tests reveal the structural transformation and the Co coordination chemistry evolution of the CoS@HDC during cycling,providing fundamental insights into the sodium storage mechanism.

BACKGROUND The scientific literature provides evidence that nutritional ketosis can be an important support in the treatment of pathologies in which inflammation is present,as recent studies have shown that ketone bodies have anti-inflammatory activity in numerous diseases,including rheumatic *** report the case of a 22-year-old woman with class I obesity and juvenile idiopathic arthritis who started treatment with a very low calorie ketogenic diet(VLCKD).CASE SUmmARY The patient was a 22-year-old woman diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis at age 4 years and with a body mass index(BmI)of 30.8 kg/m2,waist circumference(WC)80 cm,fat mass(Fm)28.1 kg,free Fm 45.7 kg,and visceral adipose tissue(VAT)3.5 kg,assessed on bioimpedance *** was treated using a commercial VLCKD weight-loss program(PNK®method);this program provides high-biological-value protein preparations and natural *** protein preparation contains 15 g protein,4 g carbohydrate,3 g fat,and 50 mg omega-3 docosahexaenoic acid,with an energy content of 90–120 *** four months on the program,the BmI was 28.6 kg/m2,WC 73 cm,Fm 23.2 kg,free Fm 41.9 kg,and VAT 2.9 *** VLCKD enabled the patient to reach her target weight and to reduce her joint pain and *** inflammatory indices also normalized.

Norepinephrine plays an important role in motor functional recovery after a brain injury caused by ferrous *** of norepinephrine release by clonidine is correlated with motor deficits after motor cortex *** aim of this study was to analyze the role ofα-adrenergic receptors in the restoration of motor deficits in recovering rats after brain *** rats were randomly assigned to the sham and injury groups and then treated with the following pharmacological agents at 3 hours before and 8 hours,3 days,and 20 days after ferrous chloride-induced cortical injury:saline,clonidine,efaroxan(a selective antagonist ofα-adrenergic receptors)and clonidine+*** sensorimotor score,the immunohistochemical staining forα-adrenergic receptors,and norepinephrine levels were *** hours post-injury,the sensorimotor score and norepinephrine levels in the locus coeruleus of the injured rats decreased,and these effects were maintained 3 days ***,20 days later,clonidine administration diminished norepinephrine levels in the pons compared with the sham *** effect was accompanied by sensorimotor *** effects were blocked by *** conclusion,an increase inα-adrenergic receptor levels was observed after *** restores motor deficits in rats recovering from cortical injury,an effect that was prevented by *** underlying mechanisms involve the stimulation of hypersensitiveα-adrenergic receptors and inhibition of norepinephrine activity in the locus *** results of this study suggest thatαreceptor agonists might restore deficits or impede rehabilitation in patients with brain injury,and therefore pharmacological therapies need to be prescribed cautiously to these patients.

Patients with liver cirrhosis,irrespective of etiology,have increased risk of liver-related and all-cause mortality(1).Also,the severity of cirrhosis determines health *** instance,patients with compensated cirrhosis have a nearly five-fold increased risk of death,while those with decompensated cirrhosis have approximately a 10-fold increased risk compared with the general population(1).Furthermore,the median survival time of patients with compensated cirrhosis is 12 years,while it is only 1.8 years in those with decompensated cirrhosis(2).moreover,the presence of intercurrent conditions,such as sarcopenia(loss of skeletal muscle mass and function)may also compromise the prognosis of patients with cirrhosis(3).

The Durkan Complex is a key tectonic element of the makran accretionary prism(SE Iran)and it has been interpreted as representing a continental margin *** present here a multidisciplinary study of the western Durkan Complex,which is based on new geological,stratigraphic,biostratigraphic data,as well as geochemical data of the volcanic and meta-volcanic rocks forming this *** data show that this complex consists of distinct tectonic slices showing both non-metamorphic and very low-grade metamorphic deformed *** and biostratigraphic data allow us to recognize three types of ***-Ⅰis composed by a Coniacian-early Campanian pelagic succession with intercalation of pillow lavas and minor volcaniclastic ***-Ⅱsuccession includes a volcanic sequence passing to a volcano-sedimentary sequence with Cenomanian pelagic limestones,followed by a hemipelagic *** succession is characterized by abundant mass-transport ***-Ⅲsuccession includes volcanic and volcano-sedimentary sequences,which are stratigraphically covered by a Cenomanian platform *** latter is locally followed by a hemipelagic *** volcanic rocks in the different successions show alkaline geochemical affinity,suggesting an origin from an oceanic within-plate *** new results indicate that the western Durkan Complex represents fragments of seamounts tectonically incorporated in the makran accretionary wedge during the latest Late *** propose that incorporation of seamounts in the frontal prism caused a shortening of the whole convergent margin and possibly contributed to controlling the deformation style in the makran Accretionary Wedge during Late Cretaceous-Paleocene times.
