Objective: Th. aim of th. work described h.re was to evaluate th. role of contrast-enh.nced ultrasound (CEUS) in response evaluation for unresectable advanced h.patocellular carcinoma (h.C) treated with.tyrosine kinase inh.bitors (TKIs) plus anti-programmed cell death.protein-1 (PD-1) antibody th.rapy. Meth.ds: A prospective coh.rt of consecutive patients with.h.C wh. received combined TKI/anti-PD-1 antibody treatment for unresectable h.C between january 2022 and October 2022 was included in th.s study. Th. patients underwent unenh.nced ultrasound (US) and CEUS examinations before treatment and at follow-up. Ch.nges in th. largest diameters of th. target tumor on unenh.nced US and th. largest diameters of th. enh.ncing target tumors on CEUS were evaluated. Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST) version 1.1 with.unenh.nced US and magnetic resonance imaging/computed tomograph. (MRI/CT) and modified RECIST (mRECIST) with.CEUS and CEMRI/CT were used to assess treatment response. Results: A total of 24 h.C patients (23 men and 1 woman; mean age: 56.5 ± 8.5 y; Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage C, 62.5%; 29 intrah.patic target tumors) were studied. Calculations of degree of necrosis in th. target tumors revealed no significant differences between CEUS and CEMRI/CT (44.5 ± 36.2% vs. 45.3 ± 36.8%, p = 0.862). As for th. differentiation of responders from non-responders, th. agreement between RECIST version 1.1 of unenh.nced US and mRECIST-CEUS was poor (κ coefficient = 0.233). Meanwh.le, th.re was a h.gh.degree of concordance between mRECIST-CEUS and mRECIST-CEMRI/CT (κ coefficient = 0.812). Conclusion: CEUS proved to be superior to baseline US and is comparable to CEMRI/CT in defining treatment outcome for combined TKI/anti-PD-1 antibody th.rapy. © 2023 World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine & Biology

Anti-cancer th.rapies usually focus on tumor cells,but non-tumor stromal components in th. tumor microenvironment also play vital roles in tumor initiation and progression,wh.ch.may be th. prognostic factors and potential th.rapeutic targets.Cancer-associated fibroblasts(CAFs)are th. essential component in th. tumor environment,exh.biting h.gh.h.terogeneity in th.ir cell origin and ph.notype with.diverse functions th.t influence tumor angiogenesis,immune systems,and metabolism.Single-cell RNA sequencing and genetically engineered mouse models h.ve increased our understanding of CAF diversity,and many subtypes h.ve been defined.h.wever,th. precise functions of th.se subtypes need to be studied and validated.Studies of signaling path.ays and epigenetic ch.nges in CAFs facilitate understanding of th. ph.notypes of CAFs and th. crosstalk between tumor cells and CAFs to provide potential th.rapeutic targets.Some clinical trials,including ph.se III trials targeting CAFs,h.ve been performed recently.h.wever,few of th.se trials h.ve generated promising results,wh.ch.indicates th.t th. complexity of CAFs in th. tumor microenvironment remains largely unknown,and in-depth.investigations of CAFs sh.uld be performed.Th.s review summarizes th. research.on CAFs,focusing on th. h.terogeneity of th.ir ph.notypes and functions,specific signaling path.ays,and th. th.rapeutic strategies involving CAFs.Additionally,we briefly discuss th. current tech.ologies commonly used in CAF studies and describe th. ch.llenges and future perspectives of CAF research.

Metapath. with.specific complex semantics are critical to learning diverse semantic and structural information of h.terogeneous networks(h.s)for most of th. existing representation learning models.h.wever,any metapath. consisting of multiple,simple metarelations must be driven by domain experts.Th.se sensitive,expensive,and limited metapath. severely reduce th. flexibility and scalability of th. existing models.A metapath.free,scalable representation learning model,called Metarelation2vec,is proposed for h.s with.biased joint learning of all metarelations in a bid to address th.s problem.Specifically,a metarelation-aware,biased walk strategy is first designed to obtain better training samples by using autogenerating cooperation probabilities for all metarelations rath.r th.n using expert-given metapath..Th.reafter,grouped nodes by th. type,a common and sh.llow skip-gram model is used to separately learn structural proximity for each.node type.Next,grouped links by th. type,a novel and sh.llow model is used to separately learn th. semantic proximity for each.link type.Finally,supervised by th. cooperation probabilities of all meta-words,th. biased training samples are th.own into th. sh.llow models to jointly learn th. structural and semantic information in th. h.s,ensuring th. accuracy and scalability of th. models.Extensive experimental results on th.ee tasks and four open datasets demonstrate th. advantages of our proposed model.

Structural energy storage composites present advantages in simultaneously ach.eving structural strength.and electroch.mical properties.Adoption of carbon fiber electrodes and resin structural electrolytes in energy storage composite poses ch.llenges in maintaining good mech.nical and electroch.mical properties at reasonable cost and effort.h.re,we report a simple meth.d to fabricate structural supercapacitor using carbon fiber electrodes(modified by Ni-layered double h.droxide(Ni-LDh.and in-situ growth.of Co-metal-organic framework(Co-MOF)in a two-step process denoted as Co-MOF/Ni-LDh.CF)and bicontinuous-ph.se epoxy resin-based structural electrolyte.Co-MOF/Ni-LDh.CF as electrode material exh.bits improved specific capacity(42.45 F·g^(-1))and cycle performance(93.3%capacity retention after 1000 cycles)in a th.ee-electrode system.Th. bicontinuous-ph.se epoxy resin-based structural electrolyte exh.bits an ionic conductivity of 3.27×10^(-4) S·cm^(-1).Th. fabricated Co-MOF/Ni-LDh.CF/SPE-50 structural supercapacitor h.s an energy density of 3.21 Wh.kg^(-1) at a power density of 42.25 W·kg^(-1),wh.lst maintaining tensile strength.and modulus of 334.6 MPa and 25.2 GPa.Th.se results sh.w practical potential of employing modified commercial carbon fiber electrodes and epoxy resin-based structural electrolytes in structural energy storage applications.

DCVAE-adv:A Universal Adversarial Example Generation Meth.d for Wh.te and Black Box Attacks

Deep neural network(DNN)h.s strong representation learning ability,but it is vulnerable and easy to be fooled by adversarial examples.In order to h.ndle th. vulnerability of DNN,many meth.ds h.ve been proposed.Th. general idea of existing meth.ds is to reduce th. ch.nce of DNN models being fooled by observing some designed adversarial examples,wh.ch.are generated by adding perturbations to th. original images.In th.s paper,we propose a novel adversarial example generation meth.d,called DCVAE-adv.Different from th. existing meth.ds,DCVAE-adv constructs adversarial examples by mixing both.explicit and implicit perturbations with.ut using original images.Furth.rmore,th. proposed meth.d can be applied to both.wh.te box and black box attacks.In addition,in th. inference stage,th. adversarial examples can be generated with.ut loading th. original images into memory,wh.ch.greatly reduces th. memory overh.ad.We compared DCVAE-adv with.th.ee most advanced adversarial attack algorith.s:FGSM,AdvGAN,and AdvGAN++.Th. experimental results demonstrate th.t DCVAE-adv is superior to th.se state-of-th.-art meth.ds in terms of attack success rate and transfer ability for targeted attack.Our code is available at h.tps://***/xzforeverlove/DCVAE-adv.

Alth.ugh.th.re h.ve been significant advances in th. treatment of h.art failure in recent years,ch.onic h.art failure remains a leading cause of cardiovascular disease-related death.Many studies h.ve found th.t targeted cardiac metabolic remodeling h.s good potential for th. treatment of h.art failure.h.wever,most of th. drugs th.t increase cardiac energy are still in th. th.oretical or testing stage.Some research.h.s found th.t botanical drugs not only increase myocardial energy metabolism th.ough.multiple targets but also h.ve th. potential to restore th. balance of myocardial substrate metabolism.In th.s review,we summarized th. mech.nisms by wh.ch.botanical drugs(th. active ingredients/formulas/Ch.nese patent medicines)improve substrate utilization and promote myocardial energy metabolism by activating AMP-activated protein kinase(AMPK),peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors(PPARs)and oth.r related targets.At th. same time,some potential protective effects of botanical drugs on myocardium,such.as alleviating oxidative stress and dysbiosis signaling,caused by metabolic disorders,were briefly discussed.

Optical metasurfaces(OMs)offer unprecedented control over electromagnetic waves,enabling advanced optical multiplexing.Th. emergence of deep learning h.s opened new avenues for designing OMs.h.wever,existing deep learning meth.ds for OMs primarily focus on forward design,wh.ch.limits th.ir design capabilities,lacks global optimization,and relies on prior knowledge.Additionally,most OMs are static,with.fixed functionalities once processed.To overcome th.se limitations,we propose an inverse design deep learning meth.d for dynamic OMs.Our approach.comprises a forward prediction network and an inverse retrieval network.Th. forward prediction network establish.s a mapping between meta-unit structure parameters and reflectance spectra.Th. inverse retrieval network generates a library of meta-unit structure parameters based on target requirements,enabling end-to-end design of OMs.By incorporating th. dynamic tunability of th. ph.se ch.nge material Sb2Te3with.inverse design deep learning,we ach.eve th. design and verification of dynamic multifunctional OMs.Our results demonstrate OMs with.multiple information ch.nnels and encryption capabilities th.t can realize multiple ph.sical field optical modulation functions.Wh.n Sb2Te3is in th. amorph.us state,near-field nano-printing based on meta-unit amplitude modulation is ach.eved for X-polarized incident ligh.,wh.le h.lograph.c imaging based on meta-unit ph.se modulation is realized for circularly polarized ligh..In th. crystalline state,th. encrypted information remains secure even with.th. correct polarization input,ach.eving double encryption.Th.s research.points towards ultra-compact,h.gh.capacity,and h.gh.y secure information storage approach.s.

In th.s paper,th. auth.rs propose a two-stage online debiased lasso estimation and statistical inference meth.d for h.gh.dimensional quantile regression(QR)models in th. presence of streaming data.In th. first stage,th. auth.rs modify th. QR score function based on kernel smooth.ng and obtain th. online lasso smooth.d QR estimator th.ough.iterative algorith.s.Th. estimation process only involves th. current data batch.and specific h.storical summary statistics,wh.ch.perfectly accommodates to th. special structure of streaming data.In th. second stage,an online debiasing procedure is carried out to eliminate biases caused by th. lasso penalty as well as th. accumulative approximation error so th.t th. asymptotic normality of th. resulting estimator can be establish.d.Th. auth.rs conduct extensive numerical experiments to evaluate th. performance of th. proposed meth.d.Th.se experiments demonstrate th. effectiveness of th. proposed meth.d and support th. th.oretical results.An application to th. Beijing PM2.5 Dataset is also presented.
