In malaria-endemic regions,people often get exposed to various pathogens simultaneously,generating coinfection *** such scenarios,overlapping symptoms pose serious diagnostic *** delayed diagnosis may lead to an increase in disease severity and catastrophic *** coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)has affected various areas globally,including malaria-endemic *** Plasmodium and SARS-CoV-2 co-infection and its effect on health are yet *** present a case report of a previously healthy,middle-aged individual from the malaria-endemic area who suffered SARS-CoV-2 and Plasmodium falciparum *** patient developed severe disease indications in a short time *** patient showed neurological symptoms,altered hematological as well as liver-test parameters,and subsequent death in a narrow time *** hereby discuss the various aspects of this case regarding treatment and hematological ***,we have put forward perspectives related to the mechanism behind severity and neurological symptoms in this fatal parasite-virus co-infection *** malaria-endemic regions,due to overlapping symptoms,suspected COVID-19 patients should also be monitored for diagnosis of malaria without any *** SARS-CoV-2 and Plasmodium co-infection could increase the disease severity in a short time *** treatment,dexamethasone may not help in severe cases having malaria as well as COVID-19 positive status and needs further exploration.

The effect of diazotrophs and chemical fertilizers on yield attributing characters and economics of okra cultivation was evaluated. Application of highest dose of NPK @100% in combination with vermicompost (5 t ha-1) and biofertilizers with FYM increased the fruit yield of okra (cultivar Mahyco-10) considerably with yield varying between 80.00 q ha-1 to 227.13 q ha-1 and 80.49 q ha-1 to 229.62 q ha-1 during 2010 and 2011 respectively. In okra cv. Utkal Gaurav the fruit yield varied from 47.68 q ha-1 to 129.84 q ha-1 in 2010 and 47.27 q ha-1 to 131.35 q ha-1 in 2011. As regards the net return, highest net profit of Rs 87,630 and Rs. 89,370 ha-1 from the okra was realized over an investment of Rs. 71,360 ha-1 during both the years with a benefit cost ratio of 2.23 and 2.25 when 100% NPK integrated with vermicompost @5t ha-1 and biofertilizers with FYM applied in okra ***-10. The highest net return of Rs. 14,350 in 2010 and Rs. 15,260 in 2011 with an investment of Rs. 63,550 each year was found in cultivar Utkal Gaurav under highest level of nutrient application.

Effect of recombinant and native buffalo OVGP1 on sperm functions and in vitro embryo development: a comparative study

Background： An oviduct-specific glycoprotein, OVGP1, is synthesized and secreted by non-ciliated epithelial cells of the mammalian oviduct which provides an essential milieu for reproductive functions. The present study reports the effects of recombinant buffalo OVGP1 that lacks post-translational modifications, and native Buffalo OVGP1 isolated from oviductal tissue, on frozen-thawed sperm functions and in vitro embryo ***： The proportion of viable sperms was greater（P 〈 0.05） in the recombinant OVGP1-treated group compared to the native OVGP1-treated group at 2 h, 3 h, and 4 h of incubation. The proportion of motile sperms at3 h and 4 h of incubation; and membrane-intact sperms at 4 h was greater（P 〈 0.05） in the native OVGP1-treated group compared to the control and recombinant OVGP1-treated groups. The proportion of capacitated and acrosome-reacted sperms was greater（P 〈 0.05） in the native OVGP1-treated group compared to the recombinant OVGP1 group at 4 h. The rates of cleavage of embryos and their development to the blastocyst stage were greater（P 〈 0.05） in the presence of either native or recombinant OVGP1 in comparison to control at 10 μg/mL concentration as compared to 5 or 20 μg/***： The study suggests that both native and recombinant OVGP1 impart a positive effect on various sperm features and in vitro embryo development. However, native OVGP1 was found to have a more pronounced effect in comparison to recombinant non-glycosylated OVGP1 on various sperm functions except viability. Hence,our current findings infer that glycosylation of OVGP1 might be essential in sustaining the sperm functions but not the in vitro embryo development.

Prostate cancer, one of the most frequently occurring cancers in men, is a heterogeneous disease involving multiple cell types within tumors. This tumor heterogeneity at least partly results from genomic instability leading to sub-clonal cellular differentiation. The differentiated cell populations originate from a small subset of cells with tumor-initiating and stem-like properties. These cells, termed prostate cancer stem cells(PCSCs), play crucial roles in disease progression, drug resistance, and relapse. This review discusses the origin, hierarchy, and plasticity of PCSCs;methods for isolation and enrichment of PCSCs;and various cellular and metabolic signaling pathways involved in PCSC induction and maintenance, as well as therapeutic targeting.

Immune dysfunction is well documented during tumor progression and likely contributes to tumor immune ***81 cytotoxic T lymphocytes(CTLs)are involved in antigen-specific tumor destruction and CD41 T cells are essential for helping this CD81 T cell-dependent tumor *** often target and inhibit T-cell function to escape from immune *** dysfunction includes loss of effector and memory T cells,bias towards type 2 cytokines and expansion of T regulatory(Treg)*** has previously been shown to have antitumor activity and some research has addressed the immunoprotective potential of this plant-derived polyphenol in tumor-bearing *** we examined the role of curcumin in the prevention of tumor-induced dysfunction of T cell-based immune *** observed severe loss of both effector and memory T-cell populations,downregulation of type 1 and upregulation of type 2 immune responses and decreased proliferation of effector T cells in the presence of ***,in turn,prevented this loss of T cells,expanded central memory T cell(TCM)/effector memory T cell(TEM)populations,reversed the type 2 immune bias and attenuated the tumor-induced inhibition of T-cell proliferation in tumor-bearing *** investigation revealed that tumor burden upregulated Treg cell populations and stimulated the production of the immunosuppressive cytokines transforming growth factor(TGF)-b and IL-10 in these ***,however,inhibited the suppressive activity of Treg cells by downregulating the production of TGF-b and IL-10 in these *** importantly,curcumin treatment enhanced the ability of effector T cells to kill cancer ***,our observations suggest that the unique properties of curcumin may be exploited for successful attenuation of tumor-induced suppression of cell-mediated immune responses.

In deregulated electricity markets, price forecasting is gaining importance between various market players in the power in order to adjust their bids in the day-ahead electricity markets and maximize their profits. Electricity price is volatile but non random in nature making it possible to identify the patterns based on the historical data and forecast. An accurate price forecasting method is an important factor for the market players as it enables them to decide their bidding strategy to maximize profits. Various models have been developed over a period of time which can be broadly classified into two types of models that are mainly used for Electricity Price forecasting are: 1) Time series models;and 2) Simulation based models;time series models are widely used among the two, for day ahead forecasting. The presented work summarizes the influencing factors that affect the price behavior and various established forecasting models based on time series analysis, such as Linear regression based models, nonlinear heuristics based models and other simulation based models.

In the present paper lignites from the Cambay basin have been studied for their hydrocarbon *** samples were collected from three lignite fieldse Vastan, Rajpardi and Tadkeshwar, and were investigated by petrography, chemical analyses and Rock-Eval pyrolysis. The results are well comparable with the empirically derived values. The study reveals that these ‘low rank C＇ lignites are exceedingly rich in reactive macerals（huminite t liptinite） while inertinite occurs in low concentration. These high volatile lignites generally have low ash yield except in few sections. The Rock-Eval data indicates the dominance of kerogen type-III with a little bit of type-II. The study reveals that the lignites of Vastan（lower and upper seams） and Tadkeshwar upper seam are more gas-prone while Rajpardi and Tadkeshwar lower seams are oil-prone. Further, the fixed hydrocarbons are several times higher than the free hydrocarbons. The relation between TOC and fixed hydrocarbon indicates that these lignites are excellent source rock for hydrocarbon which could be obtained mainly through thermal cracking. The empirically derived values reveal a high conversion（94e96%） and high oil yield（64e66%） for these lignites.
