Functional Tregs play a key role in tumor development and progression,representing a major barrier to anticancer *** mechanisms by which Tregs are generated in cancer and the influence of the tumor microenvironment on these processes remain incompletely ***,by using nMR,chemoenzymatic structural assays and a plethora of in vitro and in vivo functional analyses,we demonstrate that the tumoral carbohydrate A10(Ca10),a cell-surface carbohydrate derived from Ehrlich’s tumor(ET)cells,is a heparan sulfate-related proteoglycan that enhances glycolysis and promotes the development of tolerogenic features in human ***10-stimulated human DCs generate highly suppressive Tregs by mechanisms partially dependent on metabolic reprogramming,PD-L1,IL-10,and ***10 also reprograms the differentiation of human monocytes into DCs with tolerogenic *** solid ET-bearing mice,we found positive correlations between Ca10 serum levels,tumor size and splenic Treg *** of isolated Ca10 also increases the proportion of splenic Tregs in tumor-free ***,we provide evidence supporting the presence of a circulating human Ca10 counterpart(Ca10H)and show,for the first time,that serum levels of Ca10H are increased in patients suffering from different cancer types compared to healthy *** note,these levels are higher in prostate cancer patients with bone metastases than in prostate cancer patients without ***,we reveal novel molecular mechanisms by which heparan sulfate-related structures associated with tumor cells promote the generation of functional Tregs in *** discovery of this novel structural-functional relationship may open new avenues of research with important clinical implications in cancer treatment.

Modeling of potential habitat suitability of Hippocamelus bisulcus: effectiveness of a protected areas network in Southern Patagonia

Introduction:Huemul(Hippocamelus bisulcus Molina)is the most threatened flag species of Southern Patagonia,where conservation efforts were not effective to avoid the retraction of its distribution *** quality modeling can assist to design better management strategies for regional conservation *** objective was to elaborate one habitat suitability map for huemul,defining the environmental characteristics at landscape level,and determining the distribution of the suitable habitat inside the current natural reserve ***:We used a database of 453 records and explored 40 potential explanatory variables(climate,topographic,and landscape variables including human-related ones)to develop one habitat suitability map using the Environmental niche Factor Analysis(EnFA)for santa Cruz province(Argentina).We combined the outputs in a GIS project using different shapes,including the current natural reserve ***:We defined the potential habitat for huemul,where forest edges and ecotone zones(e.g.,mainly alpine environments)were the most important environmental variables,as well as some forest types(e.g.,nothofagus pumilio).Habitat losses were found in the extreme potential distribution areas(northern and southern areas),probably related to the increasing ranch *** current natural reserve network maintains approximately half of the huemul potential habitat in santa Cruz province,where national Parks presented the similar conservation importance than the Provincial natural ***:Habitat suitability model for huemul can be used as a decision support system for new management strategies at different landscape levels to improve the current conservation efforts.

Introduction:Machine learning (ML)‐based facial nerve injury (FnI) forecasting grounded on multicentric data has not been released up to *** distinct ML models,random forest (RF),K‐nearest neighbor,and artificial neural network (Ann),for the prediction of FnI were evaluated in this ***:A retrospective,longitudinal,multicentric study was performed,including patients who went through parotid gland surgery for benign tumors at three different university ***:Seven hundred and thirty‐six patients were *** most compelling aspects related to risk escalation of FnI were as follows:(1) location,in the mid‐portion of the gland,near to or above the main trunk of the facial nerve and at the top part,over the frontal or the orbital branch of the facial nerve;(2) tumor volume in the anteroposterior axis;(3) the necessity to simultaneously dissect more than one level;and (4) the requirement of an extended resection compared to a lesser extended *** contrast,in accordance with the ML analysis,the size of the tumor (>3 cm),as well as gender and age did not result in a determining favor in relation to the risk of ***:The findings of this research conclude that ML models such as RF and Ann may serve evidence‐based predictions from multicentric data regarding the risk of ***:Along with the advent of ML technology,an improvement of the information regarding the potential risks of FnI associated with patients before each procedure may be achieved with the implementation of clinical,radiological,histological,and/or cytological data.

Recently,there has been an upsurge of activity in image-based non-photorealistic rendering(nPR),and in particular portrait image stylisation,due to the advent of neural style transfer(nST).However,the state of performance evaluation in this field is poor,especially compared to the norms in the computer vision and machine learning ***,the task of evaluating image stylisation is thus far not well defined,since it involves subjective,perceptual,and aesthetic *** make progress towards a solution,this paper proposes a new structured,threelevel,benchmark dataset for the evaluation of stylised portrait *** criteria were used for its construction,and its consistency was validated by user ***,a new methodology has been developed for evaluating portrait stylisation algorithms,which makes use of the different benchmark levels as well as annotations provided by user studies regarding the characteristics of the *** perform evaluation for a wide variety of image stylisation methods(both portrait-specific and general purpose,and also both traditional nPR approaches and nST)using the new benchmark dataset.

Antifungal Activity of Crude Extracts of Tectona grandis L.f. against Wood DecayFungi

Wood is mainly made up of cellulose, hemicelluloses, lignin polymers and other organic and inorganic substances, making it susceptible to deteriorate by various biological agents. Tectona grandis L.f. (Teak) is a timberspecies with high resistance to biological deterioration, valued for its durability, beauty, and mechanical *** purpose of this work was to evaluate the antifungal activity of crude extracts from teak on various fungi thatcause wood deterioration. For this, Teak heartwood was obtained, then fragmented and pulverized until obtaininga flour which was used for compounds extraction using the Soxhlet technique coupled to a rotary evaporatorthrough solvents of increasing polarity (hexane, dichloromethane, tetrahydrofuran, and acetone). The extractsobtained were tested against fungal organisms collected in the field, and the LC50 was determined using teak crudeextracts on Artemia salina as a biological model. The results obtained showed that a high flour yield was obtainedwith hexane (0.951 g), followed by tetrahydrofuran (0.446 g), dichloromethane (0.348 g), and acetone (0.152 g). Byusing nine fungal organisms that predominantly correspond to the genus Aspergillus, the extractable compoundswere tested, inhibiting 25% of mycelial growth with tetrahydrofuran (T. versicolor), and 40.9% with dichloromethane(G. trabeum). Likewise, the biological model of A. salina showed an LC50 of 84.9 μg/mL with hexane, 43.3 μg/mLwith dichloromethane, 59.6 μg/mL with tetrahydrofuran, and 54.7 μg/mL with acetone. For this reason, it is concluded that Teak wood contains many extractable compounds in relation to its weight, besides having antimicrobialactivity when extracted through polar compounds such as dichloromethane and tetrahydrofuran.

Flowers are composed of organs whose identity is defined by the combinatorial activity of transcription factors(TFs).The interactions between MADS-box TFs and protein complex formation have been schematized in the floral quartet model of flower *** gynoecium is the flower’s female reproductive part,crucial for fruit and seed production and,hence,for reproductive *** the establishment of carpel identity,many tissues arise to form a mature *** have been described as regulators of gynoecium development,and some interactions and complexes have been ***,broad knowledge about the interactions among these TFs and their participation during development remains *** this study,we used a systems biology approach to understand the formation of a complex reproductive unit—as the gynoecium—by mapping binary interactions between well-characterized *** analyzed almost 4500 combinations and detected more than 250 protein-protein interactions(PPIs),resulting in a process-specific interaction *** analyses suggest hidden functions and novel roles for many *** addition,we observed a close relationship between TFs involved in auxin and cytokinin-signaling pathways and other ***,we analyzed the network by combining PPI data,expression,and genetic data,which helped us to dissect it into several dynamic spatio-temporal subnetworks related to gynoecium development ***,we generated an extended PPI network that predicts new players in gynoecium *** together,all these results serve as a valuable resource for the plant community.
