Portable in-situ devices have been used for characterizing low accessible field,such as the railway subgrade.In this study,the automated cone penetrometer(ACP)was designed for the application on the railway subgrade.ACP is composed of the cone tip,driving rod,and hydraulic hammer system.The hydraulic motor lifts and drops the 294.3 N hammer from a height of 200 mm such that the potential energy of 58.9 N m impacts the driving rod.The N-value(NACP)from the ACP test was compared with the dynamic cone penetration index(DCPI)from the dynamic cone penetrometer(DCP)test.The test results show that the NACP and DCPI profiles show opposite trend owing to the inverse concept of the unit.From the correlation of DCPI and NACP,the limitation of DCPI reveals owing the minimum manually measured value of 1 mm/blow.Additionally,the evaluation of the deflection modulus(EFWD)using NACP is more efficient than that using DCPI.Based on the result of this study,we suggest that ACP can be used for strength and stiffness evaluation of railway subgrade rapidly and reliably.

Efficient green fluorescent organic light-emitting diodes were designed with a phosphorescent metal complex as a singlet exciton sensitizing host (SESH) for achieving high efficiency and low efficiency roll-off through exciton and polaron management. Tetradentate Pt(II) complex (Pt-Trz)possessing a tetradentate ligand with a bulky blocking group not only suppresses the severe formation of excimer or dimer itself but also transfers radiative excitons to fluorescent dopant effectively. The SESH assisted fluorescence (SESHF) device with Pt-Trz as the host exhibits the maximum external quantum efficiency of 13.3%and a lower efficiency roll-off compared with exciplex host device which is a general approach for harvesting triplet excitons. Numerical exciton dynamics modeling unravels that the SESHF device effectively utilizes triplet excitons in the host by intersystem crossing and resonance energy transfer from the triplet state of the host to the singlet state of the terminal emitter. Bimolecular quenching rates of the SESHF device are reduced by 11 times for triplet-triplet annihilation and 1.8 times for tripletpolaron annihilation compared with the exciplex device, which demonstrates that Pt-Trz could be a platform to be used as an efficient host for fluorophores.

As big data,Artificial Intelligence,and Vehicle-to-Everything(V2X)communication have advanced,Intelligent Transportation Systems(ITS)are being developed to enable efficient and safe transportation systems.Electronic Toll Collection(ETC),which is one of the services included in ITS systems,is an automated system that allows vehicles to pass through toll plazas without stopping for manual payment.The ETC system is widely deployed on highways due to its contribution to stabilizing the overall traffic system flow.To ensure secure and efficient toll payments,designing a distributed model for sharing toll payment information among untrusted toll service providers is necessary.However,the current ETC system operates under a centralized model.Additionally,both toll service providers and toll plazas know the toll usage history of vehicles.It raises concerns about revealing the entire driving routes and patterns of vehicles.To address these issues,blockchain technology,suitable for secure data management and data sharing in distributed systems,is being applied to the ETC system.Blockchain enables efficient and transparent management of ETC information.Nevertheless,the public nature of blockchain poses a challenge where users’usage records are exposed to all participants.To tackle this,we propose a blockchain-based toll ticket model named AnonymousTollPass that considers the privacy of vehicles.The proposed model utilizes traceable ring signatures to provide unlinkability between tickets used by a vehicle and prevent the identity of the vehicle using the ticket from being identified among the ring members for the ticket.Furthermore,malicious vehicles’identities can be traced when they attempt to reuse tickets.By conducting simulations,we show the effectiveness of the proposed model and demonstrate that gas fees required for executing the proposed smart contracts are only 10%(when the ring size is 50)of the fees required in previous studies.

AIM： To investigate the ocular biodistribution and clearance of topically administered 7-taurocholic acid conjugated low-molecular weight heparin（LHT7） in a neovascularized mouse cornea using an in vivo optical imaging system. METHODS： A total of 10 eyes of 6 to 8-week-old BALB/c mice were analyzed. Corneal neovascularization（CoNV） was induced in the inferior cornea（IC） of each animal by penetrating the stroma with two interrupted sutures. The development of CoNV was verified after one week and the area of each neovascularized region was measured. A near-infrared fluorescent probe of 20 μmol/L Cy5.5 labeled LHT7（LHT7-Cy5.5） in 0.02 mL solution was topically instilled onto the cornea in the experimental group（n=5）. Free-Cy5.5 of 20 μmol/L in 0.02 mL was instilled in the control group（n=5）. In vivo optical images were obtained before instillation and 5 min, 2, 4, and 6 h after instillation. The intensities were separately measured at the superior cornea（SC） and the IC. RESULTS： The mean CoNV areas were 1.97±0.17 mm^2 and 1.92±0.96 mm^2 in the experimental and control groups, respectively（P=0.832）. The SC remained normal in all 10 subject animals. The IC intensity of the LHT7-Cy5.5 was greater than the SC intensity at 5 min（P=0.038）, 2 h（P=0.041）, and 4 h（P=0.041） after application. The IC intensity fell to less than half of its initial value（42.9%±8.6%） at 6 h in the experimental group. In the control mice, here were no significant differences in the free-Cy5.5 intensity between the IC and SC. CONCLUSION： Topically administered LHT7 shows a high biodistribution in CoNV areas for 4 h and should be reapplied accordingly to maintain its effects. In vivo optical imaging can be a useful tool for evaluating the ocular biodistribution of a drug in an animal model.

The adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and p70 ribosomal S6 kinase-1 pathway may serve as a key signaling flow that regulates energy metabolism; thus, this pathway becomes an attractive target for the treatment of liver diseases that result from metabolic derangements. In addition, AMPK emerges as a kinase that controls the redox-state and mitochondrial function, whose activity may be modulated by antioxidants. A close link exists between fuel metabolism and mitochondrial biogenesis. The relationship between fuel metabolism and cell survival strongly implies the existence of a shared signaling network, by which hepatocytes respond to challenges of external stimuli. The AMPK pathway may belong to this network. A series of drugs and therapeutic candidates enable hepatocytes to protect mitochondria from radical stress and increase cell viability, which may be associated with the activation of AMPK, liver kinase B1, and other molecules or components. Consequently, the components downstream of AMPK may contribute to stabilizing mitochondrial membrane potential for hepatocyte survival. In this review, we discuss the role of the AMPK pathway in hepatic energy metabolism and hepatocyte viability. This information may help identify ways to prevent and/or treat hepatic diseases caused by the metabolic syndrome. Moreover, clinical drugs and experimental therapeutic candidates that directly or indirectly modulate the AMPK pathway in distinct manners are discussed here with particular emphasis on their effects on fuel metabolism and mitochondrial function.

As the scaling down of Si devices in the range less than few nm has been expedited up to a physical limit of Si,low dimensional materials have been regarded as one of next generation semiconductors.Among a variety of applications,studies on photodetectors have been actively investigated with their novel optical properties as well as astonishing electrical properties.However,most of research has focused on single device-type photodetector(i.e.,photo-diode or photo-transistor).Contrary to common photodetector,light-to-frequency circuits(LFCs)are based on frequency reading with photosensitive ring oscillators,which has better noise immunity and reduced system complexity,thus,can be utilized to novel application even in internet of things(loT)and bio&medical fields.In this review,low dimensional materials based circuit level photodetectors,which are core elements as the form of either inverters or ring oscillators for demonstration of LFCs,are introduced.Along with the introduction of low dimensional materials and their optical properties for optoelectronics,a fundamental concept for LFCs is specifically described.Thereafter,research progress on low dimensional material based photosensitive inverters is addressed according to the types of devices.Furthermore,as one of practical method for the improvement of photodetector performance,molecular doping technology is presented.Lastly,complete system of LFCs and its digitization for demonstration of production level,and potential application in the respective four aspects,(i)medical SpO_(2) detection,(ii)biological fluidic system,(iii)auto-lighting in agriculture,and(iv)optical feedback and sensing systems,are presented as systematic way to address the envisioned practical applications for the future displays including virtual reality and augmented reality,and others.As a remark,LFCs based on low dimensional semiconductors are expected to be one of core components in trillion’s sensor area.

Detection of cracks is a great concern in production and operation processes of graphene based devices to ensure uniform quality.Here,we show a detection method for graphene cracks by electromagnetic induction.The time varying magnetic field leads to induced voltage signals on graphene,and the signals are detected by a voltmeter.The measured level of induced voltage is correlated with the number of cracks in graphene positively.The correlation is attributed to the increasing inductive characteristic of defective graphene,and it is verified by electromagnetic simulation and radio frequency analysis.Furthermore,we demonstrate that the induced voltage signal is insensitive to the doping level of graphene.Our work can potentially lead to the development of a high-throughput and reliable crack inspection technique for mass production of graphene applications.

Confronted by the inherent physical limitations in scaling down Si technology,transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDCs)as alternatives are being tremendously researched and paid attention to.However,mature counter doping technology for TMDCs is still elusive,and thus,a controllable and reversible charge enhancer is adopted for acceptor(or donor)-like doping via octadecyltrichlorosilane(ODTS)(or poly-L-lysine(PLL))treatment.Furthermore,multiple counter doping for TMDC field-effect transistors(FETs),combined with a threshold voltage(V;h)freezing scheme,renders the V_(th) modulation controllable,with negligible degradation and decent sustainability of FETs even after each treatment of a representative charge enhancer.In parallel,the counter doping mechanism is systematically investigated via photoluminescence spectroscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,atomic force microscopy(AFM),surface energy characterization,and measurement of optoelectronic properties under illumination with light of various wavelengths.More impressively,complementary inverters,composed of type-converted molybdenum ditelluride(MoTe_(2)>FETs and hetero-TMDC FETs in enhancement mode,are demonstrated via respective ODTS/PLL treatments.Herein,driving backplane application for micro-light-emitting diode(p-LED)displays and physical validation of a corresponding counter doping scheme even for flexible polyethylene terephthalate(PET)substrates could be leveraged to relieve daunting challenges in the application of nanoscale Si-based three-dimensional(3D)stacked systems,with potential adoption of ultralow power and monolithic optical interconnection technology.

Background： Until now, various types of combined therapy with nucleotide analogs and pegylated interferon （Peg-INF） in patients with hepatitis B patients have been tried. Howe6ver, studies regarding the benefits of de novo combination, late-add on, and sequential treatmentare very limited. The objective of the current study was to identify the efficacy of sequential treatment of Peg-INF after short-term antiviral treatment. Methods： Between June 2010 and June 2015, hepatitis 13 e antigen （HBeAg）-positive patients （n = 162） received Peg-IFN for 48 weeks （mono-treatment group, n = 81） and entecavir （ETV） for 12 weeks with a 48-week course of Peg-IFN starting at week 5 of ETV therapy （sequential treatment group, n = 81）. The primary endpoint was HBeAg seroconversion at the end of follow-up period after the 24-week treatment. The primary endpoint was analyzed using Chi-square test, Fisher＇s exact test, and regression analysis.Results： HBeAg seroconversion rate （18.2% vs. 18.2%, t = 0.03, P = 1.000） and seroclearance rate （19.7% vs. 19.7%, t = 0.03, P = 1.000） were same in both mono-treatment and sequential treatment groups. The rate of alanine aminotransferase （ALT） normalization （45.5% vs. 54.5%, t = 1.12, P = 0.296） and serum hepatitis B virus （HBV）-DNA 〈2000 U/L （28.8% vs. 28.8%, t = 0.10, P = 1.000） was not different in sequential and mono-treatment groups at 24 weeks of Peg-INF. Viral response rate （HBeAg seroconversion and serum HBV-DNA 〈2000 U/L） was not different in the two groups （12.1% vs. 16.7%, t = 1.83, P = 0.457）. Baseline HBV-DNA level （7 log10 U/ml vs. 7.5 log10 U/ml, t = 1.70, P = 0.019） and hepatitis B surface antigen titer （3.6 log10 U/ml vs. 4.0 log10 U/ml, t = 2.19, P = 0.020） were lower and predictors of responder in mono-treatment and sequential treatment groups, respectively. Conclusions： The current study shows no differences in HBeAg seroconversion rate, ALT normalization, and HBV-DNA levels between mono-therapy and sequential therapy regimens.

Hepatic artery pseudoaneurysm(HAP) is a very rare disease but in cases of complication,there is a very high mortality.The most common cause of HAP is iatrogenic trauma such as liver biopsy,transhepatic biliary drainage,cholecystectomy and hepatectomy.HAP may also occur with complications such as infections or inflammation associated with septic emboli.HAP has been reported rarely in patients with acute pancreatitis.As far as we are aware,there is no report of a case caused by acute idiopathic pancreatitis,particularly.We report a case of HAP caused by acute idiopathic pancreatitis which developed in a 61-year-old woman.The woman initially presented with acute pancreatitis due to unknown cause.After conservative management,her symptoms seemed to have improved.But eight days after admission,abdominal pain abruptly became worse again.Abdominal computed tomography(CT) was rechecked and it detected a new HAP that was not seen in a previous abdominal CT.Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP) was performed because of a suspicion of hemobilia as a cause of aggravated abdominal pain.ERCP confirmed hemobilia by observing fresh blood clots at the opening of the ampulla and several filling defects in the distal common bile duct on cholangiogram.Without any particular treatment such as embolization or surgical ligation,HAP thrombosed spontaneously.Three months after discharge,abdominal CT demonstrated that HAP in the left lateral segment had disappeared.
