Conservation of Traditional Rice Varieties in a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS):Rice-Fish Co-Culture

The traditional rice-fish farming system is selected as a ＂globally important agricultural heritage system＂（GIAHS） by the Food and Agriculture Organization （FAO）,United Nations Development Programme （UNDP）,and Global Environment Facility （GEF）,*** Zhejiang Province of China,where the pilot site for this GIAHS farming system is located,we compared the use of traditional rice varieties in rice-fish co-culture and rice ***,we determined how traditional rice varieties were performed in this rice-fish *** 19% of the farmers who practiced rice monoculture planted traditional varieties while 52% of farmers who practiced rice-fish co-culture planted traditional *** varieties represented 13% of the total land cultivated under rice in the rice-fish system but only 2% in the rice monoculture *** the rice-fish system,yield was lower for traditional rice varieties than hybrid varieties but application of fertilizers and pesticides was also *** a field experiment in the rice-fish system without pesticides,rice planthopper numbers and sheath blight incidence were lower from three traditional varieties than one hybrid variety;yields were 8 to 32% lower from the traditional varieties than the *** results showed that traditional rice varieties can be preserved through conserving GIAHS rice-fish *** study also indicated that traditional rice varieties can survive in the rice-fish system because these varieties are helpful to the whole system and beneficial to the farmers.

AIM:To evaluate the clinical presentation,treatment and survival of patients with primary malignant tumor of small bowel(PMTSB).METHODS:Clinicopathologic data about 141 surgically treated PMTSB patients(91 males and 50 females) at the median age of 53.5 years(range 23-79 years) were retrospectively ***:The most common initial clinical features of the patients were intermittent abdominal discomfort or vague abdominal pain(67.4%),abdominal mass(31.2%),bowel obstruction(24.1%),hemotochezia(21.3%),jaundice(16.3%),fever(14.2%),coexistence of bowel perforation and peritonitis(5.7%),coexistence of gastrointestinal bleeding and shock(5.0%),and intraabdominal bleeding(1.4%).Ileum was the most common site of tumor(44.7%),followed by jejunum(30.5%)and duodenum(24.8%).PMTSB had a nonspecific clinical *** bowel resection(n=81)was the most common surgical procedure,followed by right hemicolectomy(n=15),pancreaticoduodenectomy(n=10),and others(n=19).Twenty-seven adenocarcinoma patients and 13 malignant lymphoma patients received adjuvant chemotherapy with 5-fluorouracil and cyclophosphamide,adriamycin,vincristine and prednisone,*** about 120 patients was obtained during the *** median survival time of PMTSB patients was 20.3 *** 1-,3-and 5-year survival rate was 75.0%(90/120),40.0%(48/120)and 20.8%(25/120),*** was found in 73.7%(42/57),21.1%(12/57)and 15.8%(9/57)of the patients,*** stromal tumor was observed in 80.0%(20/25),72.0%(18/25)and 36.0%(9/25)of the patients,*** was detected in 100.0%(15/15),80.0%(12/15)and 46.7%(7/15)of the patients,*** lymphoma was demonstrated in 69.2%(9/13),30.8%(4/13)and 0%(0/13)of the patients,***:En bloc resection is the principal therapy for most PMTSB and chemotherapy is the important treatment modality for malignant lymphoma and other malignant tumors of small bowel which ca

We investigate the evolutions of two prominences （P1, P2） and two bundles of coronal loops （L1, L2）, observed with SDO/AIA near the east solar limb on 2012 September 22. It is found that there were large-amplitude oscillations in P1 and L1 but no detectable motions in P2 and L2. These transverse oscillations were triggered by a large-scale coronal wave, originating from a large flare in a remote active region behind the solar limb. By carefully comparing the locations and heights of these oscillating and non-oscillating structures, we conclude that the propagating height of the wave is between 50 Mm and 130 Mm. The wave energy deposited in the oscillating prominence and coronal loops is at least of the order of 10-8 erg. Furthermore, local magnetic field strength and Alfv6n speeds are derived from the oscillating periods and damping time scales, which are extracted from the time series of the oscillations. It is demon- strated that oscillations can be used in not only coronal seismology, but also to reveal the properties of the wave.

High-throughput sequencing of 16S rRNA gene amplicons was conducted to characterize the changing patterns of bacterial community and potential pathogens in full-scale drinking water treatment and distribution *** showed that Actinobacteria was the predominant phylum in source water,while Proteobacteria dominated after chlorine disinfection and its relative abundance increased from 40.88%±9.45%to 67.86%±27.10%.The genera Pseudarthrobacter,Arenimonas,and Limnohabitans were effectively removed by chlorination,while Phreatobacter,Undibacterium,Pseudomonas,and Sphingomonas within the Proteobacteria phylum were greatly enriched after *** analyses revealed the occurrence of 56 species of potential pathogenic bacteria within 17 genera in drinking water,mainly including Pseudomonas fluorescens and five mycobacteria species,which were also persistent in tap water *** bacteria were found to be involved in various pathways,among which considerable groups were related to human diseases,including infectious diseases and even cancers.

The mode characteristics for twin coupled microdisks are investigated by finite-difference time-domain technique. In the coupled microdisks,the same order whispering-gallery(WG) modes can form coupled modes with split mode wavelengths. We find that the coupled fundamental and first order WG modes can have anticrossing mode coupling as their wavelengths approach the same value in some case,which prevents the cross of the coupled mode wavelengths. The anticrossing mode coupling greatly reduces the coupled mode Q-factor,because the coupled mode field distribution transfers between the fundamental and the first order WG modes.

In this paper, a series of boron doped microcrystalline hydrogenated silicon-germanium (p-μc-Si1-xGex:H) was deposited by very high frequency plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (VHF-PECVD) from SiH4 and GeF4 mixtures. The effect of GeF4 concentration on films' composition, structure and electrical properties was studied. The results show that with the increase of GeF4 concentration, the Ge fraction x increases. The dark conductivity and crystalline volume fraction increase first, and then decrease. When the GC is 4%, p-μc-Si1-xGex:H material with high conductivity, low activation energy (σ = 1.68 S/cm, Eg = 0.047 eV), high crystalline volume fraction (60%) and with an average transmission coefficient over the long wave region reaching 0.9 at the thickness of 72 nm was achieved. The experimental results were discussed in detail.

Objective Epigenetics regulations have an important role in fertilization and proper embryonic de velopment, and several human diseases are associated with epigenetic modification disorders, su ch as Rett syndrome, Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome and Angelman syndrome. However, the d ynamics and functions of long non-coding RNAs(lnc RNAs), one type of epigenetic regulators, in human pre-implantation development have not yet been demonstrated. Method A comprehesive analysis of human and mouse early-stage embryonic lnc RNAs was perf ormed based on publlic single-cell RNA sequencing data. Result Expression profile analysis revealed that lnc RNAs are expressed in a developmental stag e–specific manner during human early-stage embryonic development, whereas a more temporalspecific expression pattern was identified in mouse embryos. Weighted gene co-expression netw ork analysis suggested that lnc RNAs involved in human early-stage embryonic development are associated with several important functions and processes, such as oocyte maturation, zygotic ge nome activation and mitochondrial functions. We also found that the network of lnc RNAs involved in zygotic genome activation was highly preservative between human and mouse embryos, wher eas in other stages no strong correlation between human and mouse embryo was observed. Conclusion This study provides insight into the molecular mechanism underlying lnc RNA involve ment in human pre-implantation embryonic development.
