In recent years,the emergence of nanotechnology experienced incredible development in the field of medical *** the past decade,investigating the characteristics of nanoparticles during fluid flow has been one of the intriguing *** distribution and uniformity have emerged as substantial criteria in both medical and engineering *** effects of chemotherapy on healthy tissues are known to be a significant concern during cancer therapy.A novel treatment method of magnetic drug targeting(MDT)has emerged as a promising topical cancer treatment along with some attractive advantages of improving efficacy,fewer side effects,and reduce drug *** magnetic drug targeting,the appropriate movement of nanoparticles(magnetic)as carriers is essential for the therapeutic process in the blood clot removal,infection treatment,and tumor cell *** this study,we have numerically investigated the behavior of an unsteady blood flowinfused with magnetic nanoparticles during MDT under the influence of a uniform external magnetic field in a *** optimal homotopy asymptotic method(OHAM)is employed to compute the governing equation for unsteady electromagnetohydrodynamics *** influence of Hartmann number(Ha),particle mass parameter(G),particle concentration parameter(R),and electro-osmotic parameter(k)is investigated on the velocity of magnetic nanoparticles and blood *** obtained show that the electro-osmotic parameter,along with Hartmann’s number,dramatically affects the velocity of magnetic nanoparticles,blood flow velocity,and flow ***,results also reveal that at a higher Hartman number,homogeneity in nanoparticles distribution improved *** particle concentration andmass parameters effectively influence the capturing effect on nanoparticles in the blood flow using a micro-tube for magnetic drug ***,investigation also indicates that the OHAM analysis is efficient and quick to h

Variations of Cup-to-Disc Ratio in Children

Purpose: The aim of this study is early detection of increased cup to disc ratio and a survey study of cup-disc ratio in Egyptian children age group less than 15 years. Methods: Three hundred and eighty-two (382) children were enrolled in this study. They were classified into three age groups;infants’ Group (1) from 0-2 years, preschool Group (2) from 2-6 years and school children Group (3) from 6-15 years old. C/D ratio was measured for each child. Results: In Group (1), normal C/D ratio ranged from 0 to 0.1. The C/D ratio > 0.3 or a binocular difference of >0.2 could be regarded as one of the criteria of newborn glaucoma. Group (2): the normal ratio ranged from 0.1-0.2. Group (3): the normal ratio ranged from 0.2-0.3. The highest ratio 0.7 was found in two eyes. An asymmetry of 0.2 or more in the C/D ratios of the eyes was found in 4.8% of the children. Conclusion: C/D ratio > 0.3 and asymmetry of 0.2 is suggestive of glaucoma especially in infants of lower age group.

The multilayer structure is a promising technique used to minimize the size of planar microstrip *** the flexible design and incorporation of other microwave components,multilayer band-pass filter results in better and enhanced *** paper introduces a microstrip fifth-generation(5G)low-frequency band of 2.52–2.65 GHz using a parallel-coupled line(PCL)Bandpass filter and multilayer(ML)hairpin Bandpass *** targeted four-pole resonator has a center frequency of 2.585 GHz with a bandwidth of 130 *** filters are designed with a 0.1 dB passband ripple with a Chebyshev *** hairpin-line offers compact filter design ***,they can be obtained by bending half-wavelength resonator resonators with parallel couplings into a“U”*** proposed configuration of the parllel-coupled line resonator is used to design the ML band-pass *** FR4 substrate with a dielectric constant(Er)of 4.3 and 1.6 mm thickness was used.A comparative analysis between the simulated insertion loss and the reflection cofficient of substrates RO3003 and FR4 was performed to validate the eficiency of the proposed filter *** of PCL filter is accom-plished using computer simulation technology(CST)and an advanced design system(ADS)*** PCL Bandpass filter was experimentally validated and a total tally between simulation results and measured results were achieved demonstrating a well-measured reflection *** simulated results obtained by the hairpin ML bandpass filter show that the circuit performs well in terms of Scattering(S)parameters and the filter size is significantly reduced.

Analysis of Structural State of 60/40 Brass Cartridge Case (BCC) after Being Exposed to High Pressure and Temperature of Firing

This research presents an experimental and analytical study of the structural state of the 60/40 brass cartridge case, (BCC) after being fired. The oral section of the BCC has the function of confining the gases of firing by expanding against the chamber and sealing the gases. Firing conditions, namely, high pressure and temperature, 3000 bar and 2727°C, respectively, affect performance properties of the (BCC). These are confining and crack strengths. Experimental study was done on the oral section to address these effects on the structural and mechanical properties of this brass. This alloy is a 60% copper (Cu) and 40% zinc (Zn) alloy and has a two-phase structure, alpha, (α) and beta, (β). Using “before and after” comparison approach;performance properties were tested in cartridge cases prepared before and after firing. These properties are hardness, tensile strength, micro-structural and chemical composition. Comparing the tests’ results, after firing demonstrated considerable degrading in performance properties, micro-structural disorder and a remarkable deficiency in the zinc element in the brass structure. This deficiency affects the percentage of beta phase in the alloy which governs the strength of the brass. According to the required properties before firing, it was found that after firing, the brass cartridge case is not qualified for reloading.

Glucagonomas are rare neuroendocrine tumors that arise from cells of the pancreatic islets. Most of them are malignant and usually present as metastatic disease. Sites most commonly involved in metastases are the liver and regional lymph nodes. Bone metastases are rare events and only a few cases have been reported in the literature. We present the case of a 53-year-old male with a medical history of recurrent non-functioning glucagonoma. He presented 17 years after the initial diagnosis with new blastic bone lesions involving the T1 vertebra and the sacrum. Diagnostic steps and medical management in metastatic glucagonoma are also reviewed.

Black Water Fever in Severe Falciparum Malaria: A Case Report

Introduction: Black water fever (BWF) is a complication of severe Plasmodium falciparum infection in hemolysis of erythrocytes into the bloodstream releasing the hemoglobin directly into the blood vessels and causes severe anemia and passage of dark/cola color urine, leading to acute renal failure. Hemoglobinuria or BWF is a rare and severe manifestation of falciparum malaria characterized by sudden intravascular hemolysis followed by fever and presence of abnormal hemoglobin in the urine. Aim: The aim of this study was to diagnose and treat severe malaria infection in a Nigerian patient admitted to the Casualty of the IDH Hospital. Case Presentation: A 20-year-old Nigerian boy came to Kuwait and started complaining abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and fever two days after his arrival. The investigation revealed high fever (40.8˚C), heart rate 125, blood pressure of 100/60 mmHg. The physical examination was unremarkable, including a normal neurologic examination, no hepatosplenomegaly, rash and neck rigidity. The Giemsa stained thick and thin blood examination confirmed the severe infection of Plasmodium falciparum with 41.0% parasitemia. The patient was admitted to the hospital and started intravenous Quinine (1200 mg loading dose in 5% glucose over 4 hours). The patient was feeling much better on next morning but became unconscious by evening and shifted to ICU. His all CBC parameters were higher and started passing dark/cola color urine. The 12 units of whole blood were exchanged on next morning and became fully conscious on 4th day and his anemia and thrombocytopenia were improved and the color of the urine also became normal. Conclusion: Quinine is used in both complicated and uncomplicated malaria and may cause black water fever in severe infection of P. falciparum. It is caused by the hemolysis of erythrocytes due to malaria and also with the metabolism of quinine, making these cells more vulnerable to hemolysis in falciparum malaria and also

Congenital Malaria: First Case Report in Kuwait

Background: Malaria in pregnancy poses a great health risk to the mother and her fetus and causes abortion, stillbirth, intrauterine growth retardation and low birth weight. The symptoms commonly start between 10 - 30 days of age and the symptoms mostly observed are fever, restlessness, drowsiness, jaundice, poor feeding, vomiting, diarrhea, and hepatosplenomegaly. Aim: The aim of this study was to diagnose malaria in a neonate admitted to ICU with fever, jaundice and hepatomegaly. Case Summary: A 32-day-old female child was admitted to ICU for intermittent high grade fever and rapid breathing, pallor, poor feeding, mild hepatosplenomegaly and physiological jaundice of one-week duration. The mother had malaria two years before while visiting her native country, Afghanistan and was treated with chloroquine for three days. Conclusion: High suspicion should be considered in diagnosing malaria during pregnancy to prevent congenital malaria among all neonates who present fever and splenomegaly in malaria endemic areas as well as in women from malaria endemic countries living in non-endemic areas. In this report, we describe the first case of congenital malaria in a child in non-malaria endemic Kuwait.

Synergic Effect of Reworking for Imperfect Quality Items with the Integration of Multi-Period Delay-in-Payment and Partial Backordering in Global Supply Chains

In intercontinental trade and economics goods are bought from a global *** occasion,the expected lot may include a fraction of defective *** imperfect items still have worth and can be sold to customers after *** is cost-effective and sustainable to rework such items in nearby repair workshops rather than return *** reworked items can be returned from the workshop to the buyer when shortages are equal to the quantity of imperfect *** the meantime,the supplier correspondingly deals a multi-period delay-in-payments strategy with *** entire profit has been maximized with paybacks for interim *** study aims to develop a synergic inventory model to get the most profit by making an allowance for reworking,multi-period delay-in-payments policy,and *** findings of the proposed model augment inventory management performance by monitoring cycle time as well as fraction of phase with optimistic inventory for a supply *** results demonstrate that profit is smaller if the permitted period given by supplier to buyer is equal to or greater than the cycle time,and profit is greater if the permitted period is smaller than the cycle *** algebraic method is engaged to make a closed system optimum *** mathematical experiment of this study is constructed to provide management insights and tangible practices.
