Photocatalytic degradation of Bisphenol A （BPA）, a representative endocrine disruptor chemical, was carried out under irradiation of sunlight in the presence of CexZn1-xO nanophotocatalyst. Cerium （Ce） ions were successfully incorporated into the bulk lattice of ZnO by simple co-precipitation process. The CexZn1-xO composite nanostructures exhibited higher photocatalytic efficiency than pure ZnO in the degradation of BPA under sunlight irradiation and nearly complete mineralization of BPA was achieved. The degradation rate was strongly dependent on factors such as the size and structure of catalyst, doping material concentration, BPA concentration, catalyst load, irradiation time and pH levels. This work suggested that the CexZn1-xO assisted photocatalytic degradation is a versatile, economic, environmentally benign and efficient method for BPA removal in the aqueous environment.

Larvicidal and repellent activity of medicinal plant extracts from Eastern Ghats of South India against malaria and filariasis vectors

Objective:To evaluate the larvicidal and repellent activities of ethyl acetate and methanol extracts of Acacia concinna（***）,Cassia siamea（***）.Conundrum sativum（C. sativum）,Cuminum cyminum（***）,Lantana camma（***）,nelumbo nucifera （***） Phyllanlhus amarus（***）.Piper nigrum（***） and Trachyspermum ammi（***） against Anopheles stephensi（***） and Culex quinquefasciatus（Cx. quinquefasciatus）.Methods:The larvicidal activity of medicinal plant extracts were tested against earl) fourth-instar larvae of malaria and filariasis *** mortality was observed 24 h and 48 h after treatment,data were subjected to probit analysis to determine the lethal concentrations(LC50 and LC90) to kill 50 and 90 per cent of the treated larvae of the tested species. The major advantage of natural products for random screening is the structural diversity provided by most available combinatorial approaches based on heterocyclic compounds. Clausena (Rutaceae) is a genus of about 23 species of unarmed trees and shrubs, mainly growing Indo-Malayan with a few in China, Africa and Australia. Ten species are known to grow in India, of which 5 are of economically importance. C. dentata, a plant of immense medicinal value was taken for detailed study for phytochemical, antibacterial and pharmacological investigations. The dry powder of the stem bark was extracted successively with 3 solvents viz., hexane, chloroform and methanol. The extracts were subjected to column chromatography. Four compounds were isolated. Two coumarins, 3-(1,1-dimethylallyl) xanthyletin and dentatin were isolated from hexane extract. The chloroform extract yielded another coumarin, nordentatin. An alkaloid, carbazole was isolated from methanol extract. All the compounds were identified based on spectral studies such as GC, UV, IR, nMR and MS. This investigation is the first report of the dentatin and nordentatin stem bark of C. dentata. The 13C-nMR studies of dentatin and nordentatin have been carried out for the first time. The existence of carbazole alkaloid is reported for the first time in C. dentata. The compounds showed significant antibacterial activity against E. coli, Salmonella typhi, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Vibrio cholerae and Staphylococcus aureus. The activity by dentatin and nordentatin against Vibrio cholerae was comparable with standard antibiotic ciprofloxacin. All the 3 extracts and the 4 isolated compounds were tested for various pharmacological activities such as anti-inflammatory, analgesic and hepatoprotective effect for extracts, anticoagulant, antiplatelet aggregation, prothrombin time and effect on perfused frog heart for isolated compounds. The present study is the first report for pharmacological activities of C. dentata.

nephrotic syndrome is one of the most common childhood kidney diseases. It is mostly found in the age group of 2 to 8 years. Around 10%-15% of nephrotic syndrome cases are non-responders of steroid treatment(SRnS).Angiotensin converting enzyme(ACE)(I/D) gene association studies are important for detecting kidney disease and herein we assessed the association of ACE(I/D) polymorphism with nephrotic syndrome in South Indian children. We recruited 260 nephrotic syndrome(162 boys and 98 girls) and 218(140 boys and 78 girls) control subjects. ACE I/D polymorphism was analyzed by PCR using genotype allele specific primers. In ACE(I/D), we did not find significant association for the ungrouped data of nephrotic syndrome children and the control subjects. Kidney biopsies were done in 86 nephrotic syndrome cases(minimal change disease, n = 51;focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, n = 27;diffuse mesangial proliferation, n = 8). We segregated them into the minimal change disease/focal segmental glomerulosclerosis groups and observed that the ACE’D’ allele was identified with borderline significance in cases of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis and the ’Ⅰ’ allele was assessed as having very weak association in cases of minimal change disease. ’Ⅱ’ genotype was weakly associated with minimal change disease. Gender specific analysis revealed weak association of’ID’ genotype with female nephrotic syndrome in females. Dominant expression of DD genotype was observed in males with nephrotic syndrome. Our finding indicated that ACE(I/D) has moderate association with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis. However, due to the limited number of biopsy proven focal segmental glomerulosclerosis subjects enrolled, further studies are required to confirm these results.

采用复合铸造工艺制备AZ31B镁合金及其纳米复合材料,再对所得材料在350°C进行热挤压。采用标准的销-盘式摩擦磨损试验机对AZ31B镁合金及其纳米复合材料的室温滑动磨损行为进行研究。实验条件为法向载荷10n、滑移速度0.60~1.2m/s、滑移距离2000m。采用SEM观察来研究磨损表面的磨损机理。通过构建一个线性回归模型来研究试验参数对磨销磨损率的影响。与AZ31B镁合金相比,由于增强体的作用而导致的硬度增强使复合材料表现出低的磨损率。犁削、犁沟、分层和氧化构成混合的磨损机理。

Software testing is the methodology of analyzing the nature of software to test if it works as anticipated so as to boost its reliability and *** two characteristics are very critical in the software applications of present *** testers want to perform scenario evaluations,test oracles are generally employed in the third *** test case execution and test outcome generation,it is essential to validate the results so as to establish the software behavior’s *** choosing a feasible technique for the test case optimization and prioritization as along with an appropriate assessment of the application,leads to a reduction in the fault detection work with minimal loss of information and would also greatly reduce the cost for clearing up.A hybrid Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO)with Stochastic Diffusion Search(PSO-SDS)based neural network,and a hybrid Harmony Search with Stochastic Diffusion Search(HS-SDS)based neural network has been proposed in this *** to evaluate the performance,it is compared with PSO-SDS based artificial neural network(PSO-SDS Ann)and Artificial neural network(Ann).The Misclassification of correction output(MCO)of HS-SDS neural network is 6.37 for 5 iterations and is well suited for automated testing.
