Serum samples from all 23 extant crocodilian species were tested for phospholipase A2 (PLA2) activity against nine different bacterial species. The data were used?to generate a PLA2 activity profile for each crocodilian species, and the data were used to compare the activities of the three main lineages (Alligatoridae,?Crocodylidae, and Gavialidae), the seven different genera, and to compare all?of the 23 individual species. The data revealed that the three lineages ofcrocodilians (Alligatoridae, Crocodylidae, and Gavialidae) exhibited PLA2 activities toward nine species of bacteria that were statistically?distinguishable. In?addition,?the PLA2 activities of crocodilians in a specific genus tended to be more similar to other?members in their genus than to members of other crocodilian genera.

Un-doped and ZnAl_(x)O_(1.5x+1):0.1 mol%Tb^(3+)(ZAOT)nano-powders were synthesized via citrate sol-gel *** AIx moles were varied in the range of 0.25≤x≤*** X-ray powder diffraction(XRd)data reveal that for xd samples crystal structure consists of mixed phases of the cubic ZnAl_(2)O_(4) and hexagonal ZnO phases,while for x>1.5 the structure consists of single phase of cubic ZnAl_(2)O_(4).The Raman and Fourier-trans form infrared(FTIR)vibrational spectroscopy show the presence of vibrations emanating ZnAl_(2)O_(4) *** electron microscopy(SEm)and transmission electron microscopy(TEm)show the presence of irregular sphere at x>2.0 attributed to ZnAl_(2)O_(4).The photoluminescence(PL)spectroscopy reveals emissions from both the host and Tb^(3+)*** from Tb^(3+)are observed at 382,414,439,458 nm and 489,545,585,621 nm,which were attributed to the^(5)d_(3)→^(7)F_(6,5,4,2) and ^(5^)d_(4)→^(7)F_(6,5,4,3),*** results confirm that the Tb^(3+)occupation site depends on the Alx *** International Commission on Illumination(CIE)colour chromaticity shows that the emission colour can be tuned from blue to green by varying the AIx moles.

This paper aims to assess the use of the sentinel node technique in squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the trunk and extremities in a Latin American oncology reference center. The descriptive retrospective cohort study included 60 patients diagnosed with SCC of the trunk and extremities, submitted to surgical treatment of the primary tumor and sentinel node biopsy at the breast and soft tissue tumor services of the National Institute of Cancerology (Bogotá, Colombia) over a period of 6 years. The sentinel node was identified in 96.6% (58/60) of the patients. The sentinel node pathology report was negative in 81.7% (49), positive in 15% (9). There were no complications due to the procedure in 85% of the patients. The mean recurrence-free survival time was 8.3 months (CI 95% 5.0 to 11.5 months) in patients with positive sentinel node and 58.6 months (CI 95% 47.8 to 69.3 months) in patients with negative results. Only 4 of 49 patients (8.1%) with negative sentinel node had regional relapse. The study evidenced that the sentinel node technique in patients with high-risk SCC of the trunk and extremities is an adequate staging tool for the lymph node chain, with a low rate of associated complications. This opens an interesting opportunity for prospective cohort studies that can demonstrate statistically significant differences.

Commercial aluminium alloy sheets are presently sem ic ontinuously, direct chill casting billets that are hot and cold rolled to the fi nal gauge. Interest has been shown in continuous methods which eliminate the ho t rolling step through rapid solidification of the molten metal to the final sla b. Accordingly, sheets are produced by homogenization, cold rolling, interm.d.a te and final annealing of these roll-cast slabs. The problem of earing is of gr eat concern as it causes frequent interruption of production runs and leads to m aterial wastage. Therefore, it is quite desirable that earing can be predic ted and consequently necessary measures be taken to minimize or eliminate this u nwanted phenomenon. It is accepted generally that, the principal source of earing is the crystallogr aphic anisotropy arising from non-random.d.stribution of crystal orientations i n the material. Accordingly, several attempts have been m.d. to correlate the m echanical and crystallographic properties of the materials to the earing behavio ur for predictive purposes. Some of these are based on continuum concepts which concentrate on the macroscopic rather than the microscopic aspects of the mater ials. To accomm.d.te the microstructural features of the material, some m.d.ls have been developed. A more recent approach which provides a connection between texture and plastic anisotropy parameters of the material is the Continuum mech anics of Textured Polycrystals (CmTP) method proposed by Lin et al. A simplifie d version of this method has been suggested by Chan with promising accuracy for aluminium and copper sheets. AA3105 and AA8011 aluminium alloy sheets were used in this investigation. The a s-cast slabs were cold rolled to the final thickness of 1.0 mm. different anne aling temperatures in the range of 420 ℃ to 540 ℃ produced a range of R-value s. Objective:To evaluate the effects of nano-particle of selenium (nSe) on plasma antioxidant capacity, sexual and thyroid hormones and spermatogenesis in male rats exposed to oxidative ***:Forty rats were randomly divided into four treatments with ten replicates. Treatment groups were: C, the control group received normal saline as gavage and injection (i.p.);OS, received tert-butyl hydroperoxide (0.2 mmol/kg body weight) for inducing oxidative stress;nSe, received nSe (0.3 mg/kg body weight) as gavage, and OS+nSe, received tert-butyl hydroperoxide and nSe. All groups were treated for 28 d and administrations were done each 48 ***:Oxidative stress decreased and gavage of nSe to stressed rats increased the antioxidant capacity and activities (Pdative stress decreased and nSe increased the levels of thyroid, gonadotropic and testosterone hormones as compared with the control group (Pd rat resulted in increase (Pdotropin and testosterone hormones compared to oxidative stress group. There were no significant differences (P>0.05) between rats exposed to oxidative stress and those in the control group for sperm quantity and quality. Gavage of nSe to stressed rats had no effect (P>0.05) on the sperm parameters, except increased viability and progressive ***:Nano-particle of Selenium administration in stressed rats could ameliorate the negative effects of oxidative stress on the antioxidant capacity and activities, but not on the quantity and quality parameters of sperm.

The performance of the wavelength division multiplexing (Wdm) photonic analogue-to-digital converter (AdC) used for digitization of high-resolution radar systems is evaluated numerically by using the peak signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) metric. Two different Wdm photonic AdC architectures are considered for the digitization of radar signals with 5 GHz of bandwidth (spatial resolution of 3 cm), in order to provide a comprehensive study of the compromises present when deploying radar signals with high-resolution: 1) a four-channel architecture with each channel employing an AdC with 5 GSamples/s, and 2) an eight-channel architecture with each channel employing an AdC with 2.5 GSamples/s. For peak powers of the pulsed source between 10 and 20 dBm and a distance between the radar antenna and the sensing object of 2.4 meters, peak SNR levels between 29 and 39 dB are achieved with the eight-channel architecture, which shows higher peak SNR levels when compared with the four-channel architecture. For the eight-channel architecture and for the same peak powers of the pulsed source, peak SNR levels between 11 and 16 dB are obtained when the distance increases to 13.5 meters. With this evaluation using the peak SNR, it is possible to assess the performance limits when choosing a specific radar range, while keeping the same resolution.
