Resistivity, magnetoresistivity and Hall effect measurements in n-type Te-doped GaSb grown by the liquid encapsuled Czochralski technique are carried out as functions of temperature （35-350 K） and magnetic field （0-1.35 T）. The power law model is used to explain the temperature-dependent resistivity. The magnetic-field-dependent data are analysed using the quantitative mobility spectrum analysis technique. The effect of individual band parameters （nL, nr, μL, μr, p and μp） on both the electron and magneto transports have been discussed. The EL - Er energy separation between the L and conduction band edges is also derived.

Objective: To investigate matrix metalloproteinases(MMP)-2 and MMP-9 inhibitory effect of Salsola komarovii Iljin, an edible halophyte with health beneficial ***: Salsola komarovii crude extracts(SKI), and solvent(n-hexane, 85% aq. MeOH, n-buOH, and H2O) fractionated extracts of SKI were prepared. Gelatin zymography was carried out to observe MMP enzymatic activity. The release of the MMP enzymes was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Expression of MMPs in m RNA and protein level were investigated by polymerase chain reaction analysis and immunoblotting, ***: SKI and SKI fractions inhibited active MMP-2 and MMP-9 amount in the treated cell culture medium. Also, SKI suppressed the release of MMP-2 and MMP-9 from stimulated HT1080 human fibrosarcoma cells. Furthermore, SKI suppressed the m RNA and protein expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9. SKI fractions showed parallel effects except for H2O fraction which did not yield any significant MMP inhibitory effect. Among fractions, 85% aq. Me OH was the most active fraction to inhibit both the enzymatic effect and expression of MMP-2 and ***: SKI may contain potential MMP release inhibitory compounds. Salsola komarovii is a promising source of compounds against MMP and could be utilized in the development of antitumor agents.

Objective:To explore the anti-melanogenic potential of Cyrtomium ***:The effects of Cyrtomium falcatum crude extract and its solvent fractions on tyrosinase activity,melanin content,and the expressions of melanogenesis-related genes and proteins were analyzed inα-melanocyte-stimulating hormone(α-MSH)-stimulated b16F10 ***:α-MSH treatment significantly increased tyrosinase activity,and extracellular and intracellular melanin content,as well as the expression levels of tyrosinase,microphthalmia-associated transcription factor(MITF),tyrosinase-related protein(TRP)-1,and TRP-2 in b16F10 *** with Cyrtomium falcatum crude extract and its solvent fractions reduced tyrosinase activity and extracellular and intracellular melanin content and downregulated the expression levels of tyrosinase,MITF,TRP-1,and TRP-2 in a dose-dependent ***:Cyrtomium falcatum has potential anti-melanogenesis effects and can be used as a potential source material in cosmeceutical industry for the research and development of novel lead molecules with whitening properties.

Objective:To determine the effect of Lentinula edodes extract on ultraviolet(UV)A and UVb-induced changes in matrix metalloproteinase(MMP)and type I procollagen expression using human immortalized HaCaT ***:Lentinula edodes ethanol extract(LEE)was obtained by extraction with 80%ethanol for 4 h at 80℃.Effect of LEE on UVinduced alteration on the expression and production of MMPs and type I procollagen in keratinocytes was investigated using ELISA,RT-PCR,and Western blotting *** determine the underlying mechanism of LEE-mediated effects,mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)and activator protein 1 signaling pathways were analysed by Western blotting ***:LEE significantly inhibited the expression of MMP-1 and MMP-9 and increased the expression of type I procollagen in UVA and UVb-irradiated HaCaT *** phosphorylation levels of p38 were significantly inhibited by LEE whereas it did not affect c-Jun N-terminal kinase and extracellular signal-regulated kinase *** of p38 phosphorylation was also accompanied by downregulation of UVA and UVb-induced increase in ***:LEE effectively inhibits the expression of MMP-1 and MMP-9 and increases type I procollagen production through the p38 MAPK/c-Fos signaling pathway in UVA and UVb-irradiated HaCaT *** findings suggest that Lentinula edodes may be developed as a cosmetic material to suppress UV exposuremediated skin aging.

AIM： To evaluate the frequency of neural cell adhesion molecule （NCAM）-180 expression in fresh tumor tissue samples and to discuss the prognostic value of NCAM-180 in routine clinical practice.METHODS： Twenty-six patients （16 men, 10 women） with colorectal cancer were included in the study. Fresh tumor tissue samples and macroscopically healthy proximal margins of each specimen were subjected to flow-cytometric analysis for NCAM-180 expression.RESULTS： Flow-cytometric analysis determined NCAM-180 expression in whole tissue samples of macroscopically healthy colorectal tissues. However, NCAM-180 expression was positive in only one case （3.84%） with well-differentiated Stage Ⅱ disease who experienced no active disease at 30 months follow-up. CONCLUSION： As a consequence of the limited number of cases in our series, it might not be possible to make a generalisation, nevertheless the routine use of NCAM-180 expression as a prognostic marker for colorectal carcinoma seems to be unfeasible and not cost-effective in clinical practice due to its very low incidence.

AIM: To investigate the gastroprotective effect of vardenafil against indomethacin-induced gastric damage. METHODS: Forty-eight female Wistar albino rats were randomly divided into 6 groups. Group 1 received saline only. Group 2 (indomethacin) received indomethacin. Rats in group 3 and 4 were pretreated with different doses of famotidine. Group 5 and 6 were pretreated with different doses of vardenafil. Rats in groups 3 to 6 received 25 mg/kg indomethacin 30 min after pretreatment. The animals were sacrificed 6 h later and their stomachs were opened. Gastric lesions were counted and measured. The stomach of each animal was divided in two parts for histopathological examinations and nitric oxide (NO) and malondialdehyde (MDA) assays, respectively. RESULTS: There were no gastric mucosal lesion in the saline group but all rats in the indomethacin group had gastric mucosal ulcerations (ulcer count; 6.25 ± 3.49, and mean ulcer area; 21.00 ± 12.35). AIM: To assess the association of a surrogate of fatty liver disease(FLD) with incident type-2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, and all-cause ***: In a prospective population-based study on 1822 middle-aged adults, stratified to gender, we used an algorithm of fatty liver index(FLI) to identify associations with outcomes. An index ≥ 60 indicated the presence of FLD. In Cox regression models, adjusted for age, smoking status, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and systolic blood pressure, we assessed the predictive value of FLI for incident diabetes, coronary heart disease(CHD), and all-cause ***: At a mean 8 year follow-up, 218 and 285 incident cases of diabetes and CHD, respectively, and 193 deaths were recorded. FLD was significantly associated in each gender with blood pressure, total cholesterol, apolipoprotein b, uric acid, and C-reactive protein; weakly with fasting glucose; and inversely with high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol and sex hormonebinding globulin. In adjusted Cox models, FLD was(with a 5-fold HR) the major determinant of diabetes development. Analyses further disclosed significant independent prediction of CHD by FLD in combined gender [hazard ratio(HR) = 1.72, 95% confidence interval(CI): 1.17-2.53] and men(HR = 2.35, 95%CI: 1.25-4.43). Similarly-adjusted models for all-cause mortality proved, however, not to confer risk, except for a tendency in prediabetics and diabetic ***: A surrogate of FLD conferred significant high risk of diabetes and coronary heart disease, independent of some metabolic syndrome traits. Allcause mortality was not associated with FLD, except likely in the prediabetic state. Such a FLI may reliably be used in epidemiologic studies.

In this paper,an overview of phases for modelling and mapping third dimension of spatial objects in a database is presented based on a selected spatial database management system(DbMS).These phases include(1)defining a spatial reference system for representing three-dimensional(3D)objects with real-world coordinates,(2)geometric modelling of 3D objects in the database,(3)3D spatial indexing for fast accessing/querying the 3D data,3D spatial queries and representation of 3D ***,a case study is performed to assess needs,possibilities and potential limitations of 3D data modelling in the spatial database.
