Progressive cognitive decline is a feature of Huntington’s disease(HD),an inherited neurodegenerative movement *** neuropsychological testing is the‘gold standard’to establish cognitive status but is often impractical in time-constrained *** study evaluated the utility of brief cognitive tests(MMSE and MocA),UHDRS measures and a comprehensive neuropsychological tests battery in monitoring short-term disease progression in ***-two manifest HD patients and 22 matched controls were assessed at baseline and 12-month.A linear mixed-effect model showed that although the HD group had minimal change in overall global cognition after 12 months,they did show a significant decline relative to the control *** controls exhibited a practice effect in most of the cognitive domain scores over *** decline at 12-month in HD was found in the executive function domain but the effect of this on global cognitive score was masked by the improvement in their language domain *** varying practice effects by cognitive domain with repeated testing indicates the importance of comparing HD patients to control group in research trials and that cognitive progression over 12 months in HD should not be judged by changes in global cognitive *** three brief cognitive tests effectively described cognition of HD patients on cross-sectional *** UHDRS cognitive component,which focuses on testing executive function and had low variance over time,is a more reliable brief substitute for comprehensive neuropsychological testing than MMSE and MocA in monitoring cognitive changes in HD patients after 12 months.

Background:There is limited evidence on caregiver outcomes associated with mild cognitive impairment in patients with Parkinson’s disease(PD-McI)and the coping strategies used by these ***:To investigate this relationship,we examined levels of burden,depression,anxiety,coping strategies and positive aspects of caregiving in the informal caregivers of 96 PD *** PD patients were classified using MDS-Task Force Level II criteria as showing either normal cognition(PD-N;n=51),PD-McI(n=30)or with dementia(PDD;n=15).Results:Mean Zarit Burden Interview(ZBI)score increased significantly between carers of PD-N(M=13.39,SD=12.22)compared to those of PD-McI patients(M=22.00,SD=10.8),and between carers of PD-McI and PDD patients(M=29.33,SD=9.59).Moreover,the proportion of carers showing clinically significant levels of burden(ZBI score≥21)also increased as the patients’cognitive status declined(18% for PD-N;60% for PD-McI;and 80%for PDD)and was mirrored by an increasing amount of time spent providing care by the *** ZBI score was independent of patient neuropsychiatric symptoms,motor function,disease duration and time that caregivers spent *** use of different coping strategies increased with worsening ***,we found only equivocal evidence that the use of problem-focused,emotion-focused and dysfunctional coping mediated the association between patient cognitive status and caregiver burden,because the inverse models that used caregiver burden as the mediator were also ***:The study highlights the impact of Parkinson’s disease on those providing care when the patient’s cognition is poor,including those with *** well-being has important implications for caregiver support,nursing home placement and disease course.

More than 4 years has elapsed since the World Health Organization(WHO)ofﬁcially announced the coronavirus disease 2019(cOVID-19)as a pandemic outbreak in March 11,*** the ongoing investigations and political debates upon the origin,exacerbation,resurgence,andﬁnal control of cOVID-19,medical and scientiﬁc consensus indicates that the now endemic cOVID-19 virus is one of the worst public health crises in our *** every person on earth has been directly or indirectly impacted by the adverse effects of the highly contagious viral pathogen-SARS-coV-2(severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2).Indeed,the population reach of the cOVID-19 infection includes governmental response measures(e.g.,lockdowns and social distancing,mandates for masks and face coverings,vaccines,etc.)that have restricted entrenched societal routines,personal mobility,and ***,the host of health problems linked to this viral infection linger to this day,with selective groups of people experiencing a higher risk for untoward medical outcomes and/or elevated levels of vulnerability to the post-acute sequelae of cOVID-19(***-cOVID).For example,a 2021 study by Logue et *** initial evidence that 10%–30%of individuals in United States may experience prolonged symptoms following SARS-coV-2 infection,including cardiovascular abnormalities.1 Similarly,a 2021 retrospective cohort study in England suggest that the incidence of major adverse cardiovascular events(*** failure,myocardial infarction,ischemic stroke.

Assessment of clinical depression metrics in cardiac patients using the patient health Questionnaire-9 before and after phase-II cardiac rehabilitation

cardiovascular disease remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality,a fact that is commonly associated with co-morbidities such as clinical *** phase II cardiac rehabilitation is an established intervention for those with cardiovascular disease,its effect on patients who also suffer from depression are under ***:To quantify Pre-and Post-cardiac rehabilitation questionnaire scores collected from a large patient data *** this investigation,27670 patients completed Patient Health Questionnaire-9 questionnaires both Pre-and Post-rehabilitation(averaging[28.08.7]phase II sessions).Findings reveal that questionnaire scores decreased by 40%–48%across all groups,a finding that was independent of assigned sex,race,and ***,when data were stratified for questionnaire scores that may indicate major and minor depressive disorder,phase II cardiac rehabilitation outcomes were lower by 61%and 49%*** all groups exhibited lower questionnaire scores following cardiac rehabilitation participation,numerical differences at Preand Post-rehabilitation time points indicate that males and White patients have more favorable *** latter observation,while not confirmed currently,appears to be linked to referral rates to phase II cardiac rehabilitation,which remain poor for females,racial and ethnic minorities.

1 INTRODUcTION,This is the third Editorial/commentary that one of us(***)has written relating to boron neutron capture therapy(BNcT)[1,2].For those readers who are unfamiliar with BNcT we would refer them to several recent comprehensive reviews[3–5].The second Editorial ended on a hopeful note that with the introduction of acceleratorbased neutron sources(ABNSs),BNcT would enter into the mainstream of radiation therapy[2].

BAcKGROUND Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease(MASLD),characterised by hepatic lipid accumulation,causes inflammation and oxidative stress accompanied by cell damage and *** injury(LI)is also frequently reported in patients hospitalised with coronavirus disease 2019(cOVID-19),while preexisting MASLD increases the risk of LI and the development of cOVID-19-associated *** of injury at the cellular level remain unclear,but it may be significant that severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-coV-2)which causes cOVID-19,uses angiotensin-converting expression enzyme 2(AcE2),a key regulator of the‘anti-inflammatory’arm of the renin-angiotensin system,for viral attachment and host cell *** To determine if hepatic AcE2 levels are altered during progression of MASLD and in patients who died with severe *** AcE2 protein levels and localisation,and histological fibrosis and lipid droplet accumulation as markers of MASLD were determined in formalin-fixed liver tissue sections across the MASLD pathological spectrum(isolated hepatocellular steatosis,metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis(MASH)+/-fibrosis,end-stage cirrhosis)and in post-mortem tissues from patients who had died with severe cOVID-19,using AcE2 immunohistochemistry and haematoxylin and eosin and picrosirius red staining of total collagen and lipid droplet areas,followed by quantification using machine learning-based image pixel *** AcE2 staining is primarily intracellular and concentrated in the cytoplasm of centrilobular hepatocytes and apical membranes of bile duct ***,AcE2 protein levels are elevated in non-fibrotic MASH compared to healthy controls but not in the progression to MASH with fibrosis and in ***2 protein levels and histological fibrosis are not associated,but AcE2 and liver lipid droplet content are significantly correlated across the MASLD *** A
