Background: There is considerable interest in implementing mobile scanning technology for on-farm body composition analysis on live *** experiments evaluated the use of dual energy X-ray absorptiometry(DXA) as an accurate method of total body fat measurement in live ***: In Exp.1,visceral and whole body fat analysis was undertaken in sheep with body condition scores(BCS)in the range 2 to 3.25(scale 1: thin to 5: fat).The relationship of BCS was moderately correlated with visceral fat depot mass(r = 0.59,P whole body fat(r = 0.70,P with BCS in the range 2.25 to 3.75 were blood sampled to analyse circulating leptin concentrations,and were DXA scanned immediately post mortem for total body *** leptin concentrations had low correlations with BCS(r = 0.50,P lation with chemical body fat(r = 0.17,P > 0.05,n = 9).There was a moderate correlation between DXA body fat and BCS(r = 0.70,P was highly correlated with chemical body fat(r = 0.81,P week intervals,was performed on growing sheep over a 32-week *** average BCS ranged from 2.39 ± 0.07(S.E.M.) to 3.05 ± 0.11 and the DXA body fat(%) ranged from 16.8 ± 0.8 to 24.2 ± *** was a moderate correlation between DXA body fat and BCS over the 32 weeks(r = 0.61,P lusions: Overall,these experiments indicated that there was good agreement between BCS,DXA and chemical analysis for measuring total body fat in sheep,and that DXA scanning is a valid method for longitudinal measurement of total body fat in live sheep.

Cancer cells reprogram their gene expression to promote growth,survival,proliferation,and *** unique expression of certain uptake transporters in cancers and their innate function to concentrate small molecular substrates in cells make them ideal targets for selective delivering imaging and therapeutic agents into cancer *** this review,we focus on several solute carrier(SlC)transporters known to be involved in transporting clinically used radiopharmaceutical agents into cancer cells,including the sodium/iodine symporter(NIS),norepinephrine transporter(NET),glucose transporter 1(GlUT1),and monocarboxylate transporters(MCTs).The molecular and functional characteristics of these transporters are reviewed with special emphasis on their specific expressions in cancers and interaction with imaging or theranostic agents[e.g.,Ⅰ-123,Ⅰ-131,123Ⅰ-iobenguane(mIBG),18F-fluorodeoxyglucose(18F-FDG)and 13C pyruvate].Current clinical applications and research areas of these transporters in cancer diagnosis and treatment are ***,we offer our views on emerging opportunities and challenges in targeting transporters for cancer imaging and *** analyzing the few clinically successful examples,we hope much interest can be garnered in cancer research towards uptake transporters and their potential applications in cancer diagnosis and treatment.

The power of social network platforms to amplify the scale,speed,and significance of everyday communication is increasingly weaponized against *** of social networks predominantly focus on design and its effects on *** article shifts the debate to their business *** as platform businesses,social networks are privately owned public spaces with structurally limited democratic *** from the history,theory,and practice of land use,I develop an analogy between the financialization of land by commercial real estate development and the financialization of attention by platform *** policies,such as incentive zoning and exclusionary zoning,shed light on how platform businesses use systems of measurement and valuation to conflate users’roles,tokenize the incentives that drive behavior,and defer the ethical responsibilities businesses have to the *** the real estate framing reveals social networks’structural flaws and colonial roots,lessons from urban planning,community land trusts,and Indigenous land stewardship can inform their regulation and *** on the broader effort to embed ethics in the development of technology,I describe possibilities to steward social networks in the public interest.

Background:Mass drug administration of praziquantel is the world Health Organization’s endorsed control strategy for schistosomiasis.A decade of annual treatments across sub-Saharan Africa has resulted in significant reductions of infection prevalence and intensity levels,although‘hotspots’*** drug treatments place strong selective pressures on parasites,which may affect life-history traits that impact transmission *** drug treatment responses and the evolution of such traits can help inform on how to minimise the risk of drug resistance developing,maximise sustainable control programme success,and improve diagnostic ***:we performed a four-generation Schistosoma mansoni praziquantel selection experiment in mice and *** used three *** lines:a praziquantel-resistant isolate(R),a praziquantel-susceptible isolate(S),and a coinfected line(RS),under three treatment regimens:untreated,25 mg/kg praziquantel,or 50 mg/kg *** traits,including parasite adult-worm establishment,survival,reproduction(fecundity),and associated morbidity,were recorded in mice across all four *** variables were tested in a series of generalized linear mixed effects models to determine which factors had a significant influence on parasite life-history traits in definitive hosts under different selection ***:Praziquantel pressure significantly reduced adult-worm burdens across all generations and isolates,including within ***,previous drug treatment resulted in an increase in adult-worm establishment with increasing generation from P1 to *** highest worm numbers were in the co-infected RS *** treatment decreased adult-worm burden,but had a larger negative impact on the mean daily number of miracidia,a proxy for fecundity,across all three parasite ***:Our predicted cost of resistance was not supported by the traits we measured within the murine host.

One way to increase storage density is using a shingled magnetic recording(SMR)*** propose a novel use of SMR disks with RAID(redundant array of independent disks)arrays,specifically building upon and compared with a basic RAID 4 *** proposed scheme(called RAID 4SMR)has the potential to improve the performance of a traditional RAID 4 array with SMR *** evaluation shows that compared with the standard RAID 4,when using update in-place in RAID arrays,RAID 4SMR with garbage collection not just can allow the adoption of SMR disks with a reduced performance penalty,but offers a performance improvement of up to 56%.

Electrodeposition from a lyotropic liquid crystal template medium was used to produce nanostructured platinum microelectrodes with high specific surface area and high mass transport efficiency. Compared to polished and conventional platinized microelectrodes, well-ordered nanostructured platinum microelectrodes exhibited enhanced electrocatalytic properties for oxygen and ascorbic acid, whilst well-ordered nanostructured platinum microelectrodes offered improved electrocatalytic properties for oxygen reduction compared to disordered nanostructured platinum microelectrodes.

Maximal local loads in animal joints are necessary to design bio-inspired mechanical *** studies presented methods to determine joint reaction forces in humans and ***,many of these methods are invasive,and no work has been published yet about the joint reaction forces in the horse forelimb during ***-invasive methods to measure the kinematics and ground reaction force of a horse forelimb were used in this work.A musculoskeletal model of horse forelimb was built with mechanical methods for the estimation of joint reaction *** entire forelimb was reconstructed by scanning real bones geometry with a 3D optical scanner and modeling all the muscles on a Computer Assisted Design(CAD)*** model dynamics were simulated with OpenSim in order to estimate the joint *** study allows knowing an order of magnitude of the loads at the joints at jumping in order to determine latter the maximal joint contact loading values that will be a key at designing bio-inspired joints for mechanical assemblies.
