Nanodroplet-mediated catheter-directed sonothrombolysis of retracted blood clots

One major challenge in current microbubble(MB)and tissue plasminogen activator(tPA)-mediated sonothrombolysis techniques is effectively treating retracted blood clots,owing to the high density and low porosity of retracted ***(NDs)have the potential to enhance retracted clot lysis owing to their small size and ability to penetrate into retracted clots to enhance drug *** the first time,we demonstrate that a sub-megahertz,forwardviewing intravascular(FVI)transducer can be used for ND-mediated sonothrombolysis,in *** this study,we determined the minimum peak negative pressure to induce cavitation with low-boiling point phase change nanodroplets and clot *** then compared nanodroplet mediated sonothrombolysis to MB and tPA mediate *** clot lysis as a percent mass decrease in retracted clots was 9±8%,9±5%,16±5%,14±9%,17±9%,30±8%,and 40±9%for the control group,tPA alone,tPA+US,MB+US,MB+tPA+US,ND+US,and ND+tPA+US groups,*** retracted blood clots,combined ND-and tPA-mediated sonothrombolysis was able to significantly enhance retracted clot lysis compared with traditional MB and tPA-mediated sonothrombolysis *** nanodroplet with tPA-mediated sonothrombolysis may provide a feasible strategy for safely treating retracted clots.

This research aims to demonstrate a novel vortex ultrasound enabled endovascular thrombolysis method designed for treating cerebral venous sinus thrombosis(CVST).This is a topic of substantial importance since current treatment modalities for CVST still fail in as many as 20%to 40%of the cases,and the incidence of CvST has increased since the outbreak of the coronavirus disease 2019 *** with conventional anticoagulant or thrombolytic drugs,sonothrombolysis has the potential to remarkably shorten the required treatment time owing to the direct clot targeting with acoustic ***,previously reported strategies for sonothrombolysis have not demonstrated clinically meaningful outcomes(e.g.,recanalization within 30 min)in treating large,completely occluded veins or ***,we demonstrated a new vortex ultrasound technique for endovascular sonothrombolysis utilizing wavematter interaction-induced shear stress to enhance the lytic rate *** in vitro experiment showed that the lytic rate was increased by at least 64.3%compared with the nonvortex endovascular ultrasound treatment.A 3.1-g,7.5-cm-long,completely occluded in vitro 3-dimensional model of acute CVST was fully recanalized within 8 min with a record-high lytic rate of 237.5 mg/min for acute bovine clot ***,we confirmed that the vortex ultrasound causes no vessel wall damage over ex vivo canine *** vortex ultrasound thrombolysis technique potentially presents a new life-saving tool for severe CVST cases that cannot be efficaciously treated using existing therapies.

Korea imports about 97% of its energy resources as its available energy resources are extremely limited. Thus, the role of nuclear power in electricity generation is expected to become more important in future years. A fast reactor system is one of the most promising options for electricity generation with an efficient utilization of uranium resources and a reduction of radioactive wastes. Based on the experiences gained during the development of the conceptual designs for KALIMER （Korea advanced liquid metal reactor）, the KAERI （Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute） is currently developing advanced SFR （sodium cooled fast reactor） design concepts that can better meet the Gen IV （Generation IV） technology goals. The long-term advanced SFR development plan will be carried out toward the construction of an advanced SFR demonstration plant by 2028. Advanced concept design studies and the development of the advanced SFR technologies necessary for its commercialization and basic key technologies carried out by KAERI are included in this paper.

Rotational Intravascular Multidirectional Ultrasound Catheter for Sonothrombolysis of Retracted Clots:An in Vitro and in Vivo Study

Thromboembolism in blood vessels poses a serious risk of stroke,heart attack,and even sudden death if not properly *** combined with ultrasound contrast agents has emerged as a promising approach for the effective treatment of *** reports have highlighted the potential of intravascular sonothrombolysis as a safe and effective treatment modality for deep vein thrombosis(DVT).However,its efficiency has not been validated through in vivo testing of retracted *** study aimed to develop a miniaturized multidirectional transducer featuring two 4-layer lead zir-conate titanate(PZT-5A)stacks with an aperture size of 1.4 mm1.4 mm,enabling both forward-and side-looking *** into a custom two-lumen 10-French(Fr)catheter,the capability of this device for intravascular sonothrombolysis was validated both in vitro and in *** low-dose tissue plasminogen activators and nanodroplets,the rotational multidirectional transducer reduced the retracted clot mass(800 mg)by an average of 52%within 30 min during in vitro *** lysis rate was significantly higher by 37%than that in a forward-viewing transducer without *** improvement was particularly noteworthy in the treatment of retracted ***,a long-retracted clot(>10 cm)was successfully treated within 40 min in vivo by creating a flow channel with a diameter>4 mm in a porcine DVT *** conclusion,these findings strongly suggest the potential of this technique for clinical applications in sonothrombolysis,offering a feasible solution for effectively treating thromboembolism,particularly in challenging cases involving retracted clots.

LongLine:Visual Analytics System for Large-scale Audit Logs

Audit logs are different from other software logs in that they record the most primitive events(i.e.,system calls)in modem operating *** logs contain a detailed trace of an operating system,and thus have received great attention from security experts and system ***,the complexity and size of audit logs,which increase in real time,have hindered analysts from understanding and analyzing *** this paper,we present a novel visual analytics system,LongLine,which enables interactive visual analyses of large-scale audit *** lowers the interpretation barrier of audit logs by employing human-understandable representations(e.g.,file paths and commands)instead of abstract indicators of operating systems(e.g.,file descriptors)as well as revealing the temporal patterns of the logs in a multi-scale fashion with meaningful granularity of time in mind(e.g.,hourly,daily,and weekly).LongLine also streamlines comparative analysis between interesting subsets of logs,which is essential in detecting anomalous behaviors of *** addition,LongLine allows analysts to monitor the system state in a streaming fashion,keeping the latency between log creation and visualization less than one ***,we evaluate our system through a case study and a scenario analysis with security experts.

The relation between the structure of the silver network electrodes and the properties of Cu(In,Ga)Se_(2)(CIGS)solar cells is systemically *** Ag network electrode is deposited onto an Al:ZnO(AZO)thin film,employing a self-forming cracked *** control over the cracked template's structure is achieved through careful adjustment of temperature and *** Ag network electrodes with different coverage areas and network densities are systemically applied to the CIGS solar *** is revealed that predominant fill factor(FF)is influenced by the figure of merit of transparent conducting electrodes,rather than sheet resistance,particularly when the coverage area falls within the range of 1.3–5%.Furthermore,a higher network density corresponds to an enhanced FF when the coverage areas of the Ag networks are *** utilizing a thinner AZO film,CIGS solar cells with a surface area of 1.0609 cm^(2)exhibit a notable performance improvement,with efficiency increasing from 10.48%to 11.63%.This enhancement is primarily attributed to the increase in FF from 45%to 65%.These findings underscore the considerable potential for reducing the thickness of the transparent conductive oxide(TCO)in CIGS modules with implications for practical applications in photovoltaic technology.

Organic light-emitting diode(OLED)fibers with favorable electroluminescence properties and interconnectable pixel configurations have represented the potential for wearable electronic textile ***,the current technology of OLED fiber-based textile displays still leaves to be desired due to several challenges,including limited emission area and lack of encapsulation *** we present a fibrous OLED textile display that can attain a large emission area and long-term stability by implementing addressable networks comprised of integrated phosphorescence OLED fibers and by designing multilayer *** integrated fiber configuration offers decoupled functional fiber surfaces for an interconnectable 1-dimensional OLED pixel array and a data-addressing *** triadic metal/ultrathin oxide/polymer multilayer enables not only the oxygen/water permeation inhibition but also the controllable conductive channels of dielectric *** with reliable bending stability,the long-term operation of OLED textiles in water manifests the feasibility of the present device concept toward water-resistant full-emitting-area fibrous textile displays.
