Positive autoantibodies in living liver donors

BACKGROUND There is a nationwide shortage of organs available for liver *** donors help meet this growing *** uncommonly,donors will have positive ***,it is unclear whether donor positive autoantibodies are correlated with worse outcomes following living liver donor *** To analyze the significance of positive autoantibodies in donors on post-transplant outcomes in *** We performed a retrospective review of living liver donors who had undergone liver transplantation between January 1,2012 and August 31,*** characteristics and pre-transplant data including antinuclear antibodies(ANA)and anti-smooth muscle antibody titers were collected in *** of interest were post-transplantation complications including mortality,biliary strictures,biliary leaks,infection,and *** recipients and donors without measured pre-transplant autoantibody serologies were excluded from this *** 172 living donor liver transplantations were performed during the study period,of which 115 patients met inclusion criteria.37(32%)living donors were autoantibody-positive with a median ANA titer of 1:160(range 1:80 to 1:1280)and median anti-SMA titer of 1:40(range 1:20 to 1:160).There were no significant differences in baseline demographics between the autoantibody positive and negative ***-transplantation rates of death(P value=1),infections(P value=0.66),and overall rates of complications(P value=0.52)were similar between the autoantibody positive and negative *** incidences of anastomotic strictures and rejection were observed in the autoantibody positive group;however,these differences were not statistically significant(P value=0.07 and P value=0.30 respectively).CONCLUSION Isolated pre-transplant autoantibody positivity is not correlated to worse post-transplant outcomes in living liver donor transplants.

Etching characteristics and surface modification of InGaSnO thin films under Cl_(2)/Ar plasma

Indium gallium tin oxide(IGTO)thin films have the potential for high mobility and lowtemperature processing,which makes them suitable for applications such as display backplanes and high-voltage switching ***,very few studies have investigated the plasmaetching characteristics of IGTO and changes in its properties after *** this study,the etching characteristics of IGTO were investigated using Cl_(2)/Ar plasma,and changes in surface properties were *** showed that the etch rate increased with an increase in the proportion of Cl_(2),with the highest etch rate observed at 69 nm min^(-1)in pure Cl_(2)plasma with a gas flow rate of 100 ***,increased radio-frequency power caused a rise in the etch rate,while a process pressure of 15 m Torr was *** primary etching mechanism for IGTO thin films under Cl_(2)plasma was a chemical reaction,and an increased work function indicated the occurrence of defects on the *** addition,the etching process reduced the surface roughness of Cl_(2)-containing plasma,whereas the etching process in pure Ar plasma increased surface *** study contributes to a better understanding of the plasmaetching characteristics of IGTO and changes in its properties after etching,providing valuable insights for IGTO-based applications.

Hepatobiliary scintigraphy for detecting biliary strictures after living donor liver transplantation

AIM:To investigate the diagnostic accuracy of hepatobiliary scintigraphy(HBS) in detecting biliary strictures in living donor liver transplantation(LDLT) ***:We retrospectively reviewed 104 adult LDLT recipients of the right hepatic lobe with duct-toduct anastomosis,who underwent HBS and *** HBS results were categorized as normal,parenchymal dysfunction,biliary obstruction,or bile leakage without *** presence of biliary strictures was determined by percutaneous cholangiography or endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP).RESULTS:In 89 patients with biliary strictures,HBS showed biliary obstruction in 50 and no obstruction in 39,for a sensitivity of 56.2%.Of 15 patients with no biliary strictures,HBS showed no obstruction in 11,for a specificity of 73.3%.The positive predictive value(PPV) was 92.6%(50/54) and the negative predictive value(NPV) was 22%(11/50).We also analyzed the diagnostic accuracy of the change in bile duct *** sensitivity,NPV,specificity,and PPV were 65.2%,27.9%,80% and 95%,***:The absence of biliary obstruction on HBS is not ***,when post-LDLT biliary strictures are suspected,early ERCP may be considered.

GROWTH AND MORPHOLOGY OF POLYMER-ACTIN COMPLEXES

F-actins are semi-flexible polyelectrolytes and can be assembled into large polymer-actin complex with polymorphism through electrostatic interaction with polycations. This study investigates the structural phase behavior and the growth of polymer-actin complexes in terms of its longitudinal and lateral sizes. Our results show that formation of polymer-actin complexes is cooperative, and morphology and growth of polymer-actin complexes depend on polycation species and concentrations of polycation and salt in a constant actin concentration. We found that the longitudinal growth and lateral growth of polymer-actin complexes are dominated by different factors. This induces the structural polymorphism of polymer-actin complexes. Major factors to influence the polymorphism of polymer-actin complexes in polyelectrolytc system have been discussed. Our results indicate that the semi-flexible polyelectrolyte nature of F-actins is important for controlling the morphology and growth ofactin architectures in cell.

Background Assessment of minimal erythemal dose(MED) for individual patients has been used to guide the narrow- band UVB(NB-UVB) phototherapy,which sometimes causes discomfort and additional *** L value(the lightness of color in Commission Internationlale de l’Eclairge Lab color scale) measured by colorimeter was shown to be useful for predicting sensitivity to NB-UVB *** aim of the study was to compare the efficacy and safety of NB-UVB phototherapy between 50%of MED and colorimetric L value starting dose regimens for skin phototype III to V Korean patients with psoriasis. Method Twenty seven patients determined starting doses based on colorimetric L value,and 27 patients based on 50% of *** correlation analysis showed that L value had the most significant association with MED compared with skin phototypes,a,and b values,we designated starting doses of L value regimen as follows:300 mJ/cm(L >66), 400 mJ/cm(62 < L <66),and 500 mJ/cm(L <62). Results There was no significant difference between two groups in clinical efficacy including response rate,mean number of sessions,duration of treatment,maximum dose,and cumulative dose until achieving the state of near *** proportion of adverse effects was not also significantly different. Conclusions NB-UVB starting dose determination based on colorimetric L value was comparable with conventional MED based regimen in efficacy and safety for skin phototype III-V *** it provides much convenience and ease for both patients and physicians,colorimetric L value could partly substitute the MED checking methods in NB-UVB phototherapy.

AIM:To evaluate the long-term results of radiofrequency ablation(RFA)compared to left lateral sectionectomy(LLS)in patients with Child-Pugh class A disease for the treatment of single and small hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)in the left lateral ***:We retrospectively reviewed the data of133 patients with single HCC(≤3 cm)in their left lateral segments who underwent curative LLS(n=66)or RFA(n=67)between 2006 and ***:The median follow-up period was 33.5mo in the LLS group and 29 mo in the RFA group(P=0.060).Most patients had hepatitis B virus-related *** hospital stay was longer in the LLS group than in the RFA group(8 d vs 2 d,P<0.001).The 1-,2-,and 3-year disease-free survival and overall survival rates were 80.0%,68.2%,and 60.0%,and 95.4%,92.3%,and 92.3%,respectively,for the LLS group;and 80.8%,59.9%,and 39.6%,and 98.2%,92.0%,and 74.4%,respectively,for the RFA *** disease-free survival curve and overall survival curve were higher in the LLS group than in the RFA group(P=0.012 and P=0.013,respectively).Increased PIVKA-Ⅱlevels and small tumor size were associated with HCC recurrence in multivariate ***:Liver resection is suitable for single HCC≤3 cm in the left lateral segments.

A compact polymer–inorganic hybrid gas barrier nanolayer for flexible organic light-emitting diode displays

Atomic layer infiltration technology allows the formation of a nanometer-thick polymer-inorganic hybrid barrier layer in polymer material for flexible organic light-emitting diode(OLED)*** this study,according to transmission electron microscopy and secondary-ion mass spectrometry analysis results under various process conditions,a compact polymer-inorganic hybrid nanolayer was successfully formed in a polymer and good barrier performance was revealed with a low water vapor transmission rate under optimal process ***,through gas chromatography-mass spectrometry measurements after ultra-violet radiation testing,polymer out-gassing decreased compared to bare *** on barrier properties,the polymer with a polymer-inorganic hybrid barrier nanolayer was applied to a flexible OLED display as a *** storage tests and folding tests,the flexible OLED display exhibits good reliability and better flexibility compared to those with an inorganic barrier *** results confirm that the polymer-inorganic hybrid nanolayer is suitable for barrier layer formation in flexible OLED displays.
