Bubble Size Distribution for Waves Propagating over A Submerged Breakwater

Experiments are carried out to study the characteristics of active bubbles entrained by breaking waves as these propagate over an abruptly topographical change or a submerged breakwater. Underwater sounds generated by the entrained air bubbles are detected by a hydrophone connected to a charge amplifier and a data acquisition system. The size distribution of the bubbles is then determined inversely from the received sound frequencies. The sound signals are converted from time domain to time-frequency domain by applying Gabor transform. The number of bubbles with different sizes are counted from the signal peaks in the time-frequency domain. The characteristics of the bubbles are in terms of bubble size spectra, which account for the variation in bubble probability density related to the bubble radius r. The experimental data demonstrate that the bubble probability density function shows a - 2.39 power-law sealing with radius for r 〉 0. 8 mm, and a- 1.11 power law for r 〈0.8 mm.

Persistent hepatitis B virus(HBV)infection results in chronic liver diseases that may progress to chronic hepatitis,liver cirrhosis,and subsequent hepatocellular *** studies demonstrated that adaptive immunity,in particular CD8 T cells,is critical in HBV *** studies have revealed a distinct tissue-localized T cell lineage,tissue-resident memory(TRM)cells,that is crucial for protective immunity in peripheral *** this study,we showed that treatment with an anti-asialo GM1(ASGM1)antibody(Ab),which depletes NK cells,led to impairment of HBV clearance in a mouse animal ***,the ability to clear HBV was not significantly impaired in NFIL3 KO mice,which are deficient in NK cells,implying that other non-NK ASGM1-positive immune cells mediate HBV *** isolated intrahepatic ASGM1-positive cells from NFIL3 KO mice and analyzed the immune phenotype of these *** results demonstrated a distinct population of CD44+LFA-1hi CD8 T cells that were the major intrahepatic ASGM1-positive immune cells in NFIL3 KO ***,transcriptome analysis revealed that these ASGM1-positive CD8 T cells had distinct gene profiles and shared a similar core gene signature with TRM *** addition to both transcriptional and phenotypic liver residency characteristics,ASGM1-positive CD8 T cells were able to home to and be retained in the liver after adoptive *** together,our study results indicate that these ASGM1-positive liver-resident CD8 T cells are the major effector immune cells mediating anti-HBV immunity.

Bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants among monocotyledonous species and is grown extensively in subtropical *** bamboo has high economic value and produces much biomass quickly,gene functional research is hindered by the low efficiency of genetic transformation in this *** therefore explored the potential of a bamboo mosaic virus(BaMV)-mediated expression system to investigate genotype-phenotype *** determined that the sites between the triple gene block proteins(TGBps)and the coat protein(CP)of BaMV are the most efficient insertion sites for the expression of exogenous genes in both monopodial and sympodial bamboo ***,we validated this system by individually overexpressing the two endogenous genes ACE1 and DEC1,which resulted in the promotion and suppression of intemode elongation,*** particular,this system was able to drive the expression of three 2A-linked betalain biosynthesis genes(more than 4 kb in length)to produce betalain,indicating that it has high cargo capacity and may provide the prerequisite basis for the development of a DNA-free bamboo genome editing platform in the *** BaMV can infect multiple bamboo species,we anticipate that the system described in this study will greatly contribute to gene function research and further promote the molecular breeding of bamboo.

Muscle involvement in adults with hypothyroidism is common. A unified model is based on a generalized gauge symmetry with groups [Sg3c]color×（SU2×U1）X[U1b×U11]. It implies that all interactions should preserve conservation laws of baryon number, lepton number, and electric charge, etc. The baryonie U1b, leptonie U11 and color SU3o gauge transformations are generalized to involve nonintegrable phase factors. One has gauge invariant fourth-order equations for massless gauge fields, which leads to linear potentials in the [U1b × U11] and color [SUao] sectors. We discuss possible cosmological implications of the new baryonie gauge field. It can produce a very small constant repulsive force between two baryon galaxies （or between two anti-baryon galaxies）, where the baryon force can overcome the gravitational force at very large distances and leads to an accelerated cosmic expansion. Based on conservation laws in the unified model, we discuss a simple rotating dumbbell universe with equal amounts of matter and anti-matter, which may be pictured as two gigantic rotating clusters of galaxies. Within the gigantic baryonie cluster, a galaxy will have an approximately linearly accelerated expansion due to the effective force of constant density of all baryonie matter. The same expansion happens in the gigantic anti-baryonic cluster. Physical implications of the generalized gauge symmetry on charmonium confining potentials due to new SUac field equations, frequency shift of distant supernovae Ia and their experimental tests are discussed.
