For more effective image sampling, compressive sensing(CS) imaging methods based on image saliency have been proposed in recent years. Those methods assign higher measurement rates to salient regions,but lower measurement rate to non-salient regions to improve the performance of CS imaging. However, those methods are block-based, which are difficult to apply to actual CS sampling, as each photodiode should strictly correspond to a block of the scene. In our work, we propose a non-uniform CS imaging method based on image saliency, which assigns higher measurement density to salient regions and lower density to non-salient regions,where measurement density is the number of pixels measured in a unit size. As the dimension of the signal is reduced, the quality of reconstructed image will be improved theoretically, which is confirmed by our experiments. Since the scene is sampled as a whole, our method can be easily applied to actual CS sampling. To verify the feasibility of our approach, we design and implement a hardware sampling system, which can apply our non-uniform sampling method to obtain measurements and reconstruct the images. To our best knowledge, this is the first CS hardware sampling system based on image saliency.

This paper investigates the social-aware cooperation(SAC) among mobile terminals(MTs), motivated by the fact that modern smart devices have much improved context awareness. Aware of the social ties, the cooperative network contains two layers of property: social and physical. In order to observe how the social awareness benefit the cooperation performance, we first formulate the social ties between MTs into parameters that can describe the cooperative behaviors by taking the mobility feature into account, defined as the conviction-approval-suspicion(CAS) model. Limited by the processing capability, partner selection is of great practical significance. To this end, the social-aware partner selection strategy is analyzed, and a significant superiority is observed compared to social-unaware selection. By analyzing the cooperative throughput, an explicit relationship between the degrees-of-freedom gain and the social-physical property is finally derived. Simulation results validate the theoretical analysis.

Introduction: The expected health effects of circadian rhythm are of major public health interest. However, it remains unknown the association between weakened and/or disrupted circadian rhythm and gastroesophageal reflux disease. This study aims to examine rest-activity rhythm characteristics in relation to gastroesophageal reflux disease in a large population-based cohort.Methods: This prospective study used data from the UK Biobank. Rest-activity characteristics were derived from extended cosine models using 7-day actigraphy. Cox proportional hazard regression, with time since accelerometer wearing time as the start of follow-up, was used to model the associations of circadian disruption and gastroesophageal reflux disease.Results: We found that compared to those in the highest quintile of amplitude, a measure of the strength of the rhythm, participants in the lowest quintile(i.e, those with the weakest rhythmicity) were 1.16 times more likely to develop gastroesophageal reflux disease(OR Q1 vs. Q5 1.16(1.07, 1.28)). Similar patterns were observed for other rest-activity characteristics, including mesor(1.17(1.06, 1.28)), and delayed acrophase(1.09(1.00, 1.19)). No significant associations between F statistic and gastroesophageal reflux disease were found.Conclusions: Our findings support an association between weakened and/or disrupted rest-activity rhythms and gastroesophageal reflux disease among the general population.

Sb-Cu alloy cathode with a novel lithiation mechanism of ternary intermetallic formation: Enabling high energy density and superior rate capability of liquid metal battery

Background: Previous evidence indicates the sleep and circadian disruption is essential in the regulation of immune function, and shift workers and individuals with sleep problems are speculated to be associated with the risk of COVID-19 infection. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the associations of shift work and sleep problems with symptomatic COVID-19 infection in a large population-based cohort. Methods: This was a population-based cohort study based on the UK biobank, and 421373 participants resident in England and recruited between 2006 and 2010 were included. Exposures including shift work and sleep problems were obtained. Main outcome was testing results of COVID-19(March 16, 2020 to May 31, 2020). Logistic regression analysis was conducted.Results: A total of 1470(0.35%) were positive for COVID-19 infection. Among paid employers or self-employers, the frequency and type of shift work [sometimes: OR = 1.95, 95% CI: 1.57-2.43, usually or always: OR = 2.34, 95% CI: 1.94-2.81;day shift: OR = 1.98, 95% CI: 1.61-2.44, night shift: OR = 2.35, 95% CI: 1.94-2.84] were associated with the risk of COVID-19 infection after adjustment for demographics, behavioral factors, as well as mental and medical comorbidity. Daytime sleepiness was weakly associated with increased risk of infection [sometimes: OR = 1.22, 95% CI: 1.08-1.38;often: OR = 1.19, 95% CI: 0.91-1.56] in final model. No associations of sleep duration, insomnia symptoms, chronotype, and snoring with COVID-19 infection were found in final model. Sensitivity analyses recruiting 6100 participants with test results for COVID-19 infection confirmed similar results.Conclusions: Shift work may enhance susceptibility towards symptomatic COVID-19 infection. Besides, daytime sleepiness may also be weakly associated with symptomatic COVID infection. Therefore, preventive strategies targeting at COVID-19 infection may set priority to those shift workers.

Antimony(Sb) is an attractive cathode for liquid metal batteries(LMBs) because of its high theoretical voltage and low cost.The main obstacles associated with the Sb-based cathodes are unsatisfactory energy density and poor rate-capability.Herein,we propose a novel Sb_(64)Cu_(36)cathode that effectively tackles these issues.The Sb_(64)Cu_(36)(melting point:525℃) cathode presents a novel lithiation mechanism involving sequentially the generation of Li_(2)CuSb,the formation of Li_(3)Sb,and the conversion reaction of Li_(2)CuSb to Li_(3)Sb and Cu.The generated intermetallic compounds show a unique microstructure of the upper floated Li_(2)CuSb layer and the below cross-linked structure with interpenetrated Li_(2)CuSb and Li_(3)Sb phases.Compared with Li_(3)Sb,the lower Li migration energy barrier(0.188 eV) of Li_(2)CuSb significantly facilitates the lithium diffusion across the intermediate compounds and accelerates the reaction kinetics.Consequently,the Li‖Sb_(64)Cu_(36)cell delivers a more excellent electrochemical performance(energy density:353 W h kg^(-1)at 0.4 A cm^(-2);rate capability:0.59 V at 2.0 A cm^(-2)),and a much lower energy storage cost of only 38.45 $ kW h^(-1)than other previously reported Sb-based LMBs.This work provides a novel cathode design concept for the development of high-performance LMBs in applications for large-scale energy storage.

The targeted reservoir,which is referred as the first member of Cretaceous Qingshankou Formation in Gulong Sag,Songliao Basin,NE China,is characterized by the enrichment of clay and lamellation fractures.Aiming at the technical challenge of determining oil saturation of such reservoir,nano-pores were accurately described and located through focused ion beam scanning electron microscopy and quantitative evaluation of minerals by scanning electron microscopy based on Simandoux model,to construct a 4D digital core frame.Electrical parameters of the shale reservoir were determined by finite element simulation,and the oil saturation calculation method suitable for shale was proposed.Comparison between the results from this method with that from real core test and 2D nuclear magnetic log shows that the absolute errors meet the requirements of the current reserve specification in China for clay-rich shale reservoir.Comparison analysis of multiple wells shows that the oil saturation values calculated by this method of several points vertically in single wells and multiple wells on the plane are in agreement with the test results of core samples and the regional deposition pattern,proving the accuracy and applicability of the method model.

Objectives: To investigate the joint associations of sleep duration and physical activity(PA) with all-cause, cardiovascular disease(CVD), and cancer mortality.Methods: Seven-day accelerometer recording was performed in 92 221 participants(age 62.4 ± 7.8 years;56.4% women) from the UK Biobank study between February 2013 and December 2015. We divided sleep duration into three groups(short, normal, long), total volume of PA into three levels according to tertiles(high, intermediate, low), and moderate to vigorous PA(MVPA) into two groups based on WHO guideline(150 minutes/week). The outcomes were all-cause, CVD, and cancer mortality prospectively collected through the death registry.Results: Over a median follow-up of 7.0 years, 3 080 adults died from all causes, 1 074 from CVD, and 1 871 from cancer. A curvilinear dose response pattern was observed in the associations of sleep duration and PA with mortality, respectively (all P nonlinearity < 0.001). Sleep duration and PA had additive and multiplicative interactions on mortality(P interaction < 0.05). Compared with the participants with recommended MVPA and normal sleep duration, those without recommended MVPA but having unusual sleep duration were at significantly higher risk for all-cause mortality [short sleep:(adjusted HR, 95%CI),(1.88, 1.61-2.20);long sleep:(1.69, 1.49-1.90)]. A higher volume of PA or recommended MVPA attenuated the detrimental effects of unusual sleep duration on mortality outcomes, especially all-cause and CVD mortality Conclusions: A higher volume of PA or MVPA meeting recommendation diminished the adverse effects on all-cause and cause-specific mortality associated with short and long sleep duration.

Drought is a major factor restricting the production of rice(Oryza sativa L.).The identification of natural variants for drought stress-related genes is an important step toward developing genetically improved rice varieties.Here,we characterized a member of the SQUAMOSA PROMOTER BINDING PROTEIN-LIKE(SPL)family,OsSPL10,as a transcription factor involved in the regulation of drought tolerance in rice.OsSPL10 appears to play a vital role in drought tolerance by controlling reactive oxygen species(ROS)production and stomatal movements.Haplotype and allele frequency analyses of OsSPL10 indicated that most upland rice and improved lowland rice varieties harbor the OsSPL10Hap1allele,whereas the OsSPL10Hap2allele was mainly present in lowland and landrace rice varieties.Importantly,we demonstrated that the varieties with the OsSPL10Hap1allele showed low expression levels of OsSPL10 and its downstream gene,OsNAC2,which decreases the expression of OsAP37 and increases the expression of OsCOX11,thus preventing ROS accumulation and programmed cell death(PCD).Furthermore,the knockdown or knockout of OsSPL10 induced fast stomatal closure and prevented water loss,thereby improving drought tolerance in rice.Based on these observations,we propose that OsSPL10 confers drought tolerance by regulating OsNAC2 expression and that OsSPL10Hap1could be a valuable haplotype for the genetic improvement of drought tolerance in rice.
