Recently, the high-brightness LEDs have begun to be designed for illumination application. The increased electrical currents used to drive LEDs lead to thermal issues. Thermal management for LED module is a key design parameter as high operation temperature directly affects their maximum light output, quality, reliability and life time. In this review, only passive thermal solutions used on LED module will be studied. Moreover, new thermal interface materials and passive thermal solutions applied on electronic equipments are discussed which have high potential to enhance the thermal performance of LED Module.

An ultra-thin multi-LED package is designed, manufactured and its thermal performance is character- ized. The objective of this study is to develop an efficient thermal modelling approach for this system which can be used for optimization of the thermal-performance of future ultra-thin designs. A high-resolution thermal imaging camera and thermocouples were used to measure the temperature distribution of the multi-LED package and the LED-die temperature for different operating powers. Finally, we compare the thermal measurements with the finite element simulation results. It is concluded that the modelling approach can assist in the thermal optimization of future multi-LED package designs.

Legume rhizobium symbiosis is initiated upon perception of bacterial secreted lipo-chitooligosaccharides （LCOs）. Perception of these signals by the plant initiates a signaling cascade that leads to nodule formation. Several studies have implicated a function for cytokinin in this process. however, whether cytokinin accu- mulation and subsequent signaling are an integral part of rhizobium LCO signaling remains elusive. here, we show that cytokinin signaling is required for the majority of transcriptional changes induced by rhizo- bium LCOs. In addition, we demonstrate that several cytokinins accumulate in the root susceptible zone 3 h after rhizobium LCO application, including the biologically most active cytokinins, trans-zeatin and iso- pentenyl adenine. These responses are dependent on calcium- and calmodulin-dependent protein kinase （CCaMK）, a key protein in rhizobial LCO-induced signaling. Analysis of the ethylene-insensitive Mtein21 Mtsickle mutant showed that LCO-induced cytokinin accumulation is negatively regulated by ethylene. Together with transcriptional induction of ethylene biosynthesis genes, it suggests a feedback loop negatively regulating LCO signaling and subsequent cytokinin accumulation. We argue that cytokinin accumulation is a key step in the pathway leading to nodule organogenesis and that this is tightly controlled by feedback loops.

AIM: To describe an Internet-based data acquisition facility for a European 10-year clinical follow-up study project of a population-based cohort of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients and to investigate the influence of demographic and disease related patient characteristics on response ***: Thirteen years ago, the European Collaborative study group of IBD (EC-IBD) initiated a population-based prospective inception cohort of 2 201uniformly diagnosed IBD patients within 20 welldescribed geographical areas in 11 European countries and Israel. For the 10-year follow-up of this cohort, an electronic patient questionnaire (ePQ) and electronic physician per patient follow-up form (ePpPFU) were designed as two separate data collecting instruments and made available through an Internet-based *** demographic and clinical determinants of ePQ participation were analyzed using multivariate logistic ***: In 958 (316 CD and 642 UC) out of a total number of 1 505 (64%) available IBD patients,originating from 13 participating centers from nine different countries, both ePQ and ePpPFU were completed. To investigate the association of viral infections and febrile seizures (FS). From April 1998 to April 2002, a prospective, population-based study was carrie d out among general practitioners to assess the incidence of FS in their practic es. Data thus obtained were compared with the incidence of common viral infectio ns recorded in a national registry. Poisson regression analysis was performed to investigate whether the season or the type of infection was associated with the variation observed in FS incidence. Throughout the 4-year period, 267 of 303 ( 88%) of general practitioners in the Dutch province of Friesland participated i n the study. The estimated observation period was approximately 160, 000 patient -years. We registered 654 cases of FS in 429 children. The estimated incidence of FS was 2.4 in 100 0 patient-years. Poisson regression analysis revealed a positive correlation be tween recurrent FS and influenza A (P =.01). Our study suggests a relation betw een recurrent FS and influenza A. Influenza vaccination should be considered in all children with a history of FS.
