In cancer,myeloid cells have tumor-supporting *** reported that the protein GPNmB(glycoprotein nonmetastatic B)was profoundly upregulated in macrophages interacting with tumor ***,using mouse tumor models,we show that macrophage-derived soluble GPNmB increases tumor growth and metastasis in Gpnmb-mutant mice(DBA/2J).GPNmB triggers in the cancer cells the formation of self-renewing spheroids,which are characterized by the expression of cancer stem cell markers,prolonged cell survival and increased tumor-forming *** the CD44 receptor,GPNmB mechanistically activates tumor cells to express the cytokine IL-33 and its receptor UR1L. We also determined that recombinant IL-33 binding to IL-1R1L is sufficient to induce tumor spheroid formation with features of cancer stem ***,our results reveal a new paracrine axis,GPNmB and IL-33,which is activated during the cross talk of macrophages with tumor cells and eventually promotes cancer cell survival,the expansion of cancer stem cells and the acquisition of a metastatic phenotype.

When collecting a flower,bumblebees learn to associate floral features with reward,preferring,and specializing in the most profitable ones they visit(Chittka et al.1999).The proboscis extension reflex(PER)occurs naturally in the feeding context allowing individuals to access the floral *** controlled conditions,the PER paradigm is a well-established controlled learning procedure used in honeybees(Takeda 1961),and some bumblebees of the genus Bombus(Laloi et al.1999).The assessment of cognitive capacities in an operant context has been studied mainly in *** and ***(Chittka 1998;mirwan and Kevan 2014).However,little is known about the ability to evoke associative memories in an operant context,which had been acquired in a classical *** turn,on the contrary,the Bombus genus also has the capacity to form longterm memories(Chittka 1998;mcAulay et al.2015).In particular,the South American bumblebee ***(***)can learn a pure odor when it is presented in a paired association with a sugar reward within a PER paradigm(Palottini et al.2018).As other species,this one is a commercially reared pollinator that is increasingly managed in pollination services of some South American countries and they could be important for increasing production of crops(Palottini et al.2018).

The normal growth and development of the skull is a tightly regulated process that occurs along the osteogenic interfaces of the cranial ***,the borders of the calvarial bones and neighboring tissues above and below,function as a *** coordinated remodeling efforts of bone deposition and resorption,the cranial sutures maintain a state of patency from infancy through early adulthood as the skull continues to grow and accommodate the developing brain’s demands for ***,when this delicate balance is disturbed,a number of pathologic conditions ensue;and if left uncorrected,may result in visual and neurocognitive impairments.A prime example includes craniosynostosis,or premature fusion of one or more cranial and/or facial suture(s).At the present time,the only therapeutic measure for craniosynostosis is surgical correction by cranial vault ***,elegant studies performed over the past decade have identified several genes critical for the maintenance of suture patency and induction of suture *** deeper understandings of the pathogenesis and molecular mechanisms that regulate suture biology may provide necessary insights toward the development of non-surgical therapeutic alternatives for patients with cranial suture *** this review,we discuss the intricate cellular and molecular interplay that exists within the suture among its three major components:dura mater,osteoblastic related molecular pathways and osteoclastic related molecular pathways.

The novel coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic,caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2,has become a global challenge of unprecedented nature since December *** most patients with COVID-19 exhibit mild clinical manifestations and upper respiratory tract involvement,in approximately 5%-10%of patients,the disease is severe and involves multiple organs,leading to multi-organ dysfunction and *** liver and gastrointestinal tract are also frequently involved in *** the context of liver involvement in patients with COVID-19,many key aspects need to be addressed in both native and transplanted *** review focuses on the clinical presentations and laboratory abnormalities of liver function tests in patients with COVID-19 with no prior liver disease,patients with pre-existing liver diseases and liver transplant recipients.A brief overview of the history of COVID-19 and etiopathogenesis of the liver injury will also be described as a prelude to better understanding the above aspects.

In the present study 100 cardiac patients were randomly selected from the cardiology ward, Allied Hospital faisalabad, Pakistan. All the selected cases were analysed for different parameters like Hepatitis B surface Antigen (HbsAg), Bilirubin, Alkaline phosphatase, serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase, and serum glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase. Out of total 16% patients were lying in the age of 21-30 year, 25% in the age of 31-40 year, 35% in the age of 41-50 year, 19% in the age of 51-60 years and 5% patients in the age of 61-70 years. No subject was found positive in age group 21-30 years patients. 35% patients have higher value of SGPT while, other 26% were with higher value of SGOT. Rest of the 32 and 24% have higher ALP and Bilirubin levels, respectively. Assay profile revealed that ALP level was increased with increasing age, body mass index, Creactive protein, diabetes, smoking, sex, serum uric acid, lead, cadmium, hypercholesterolemia, lesion of liver and cardiovascular disease. The serum of the eight HbsAg positive cases were tested for the presence of HBV through PCR and no sample was found positive. At the end of the study, PCR amplified samples were run on 1.5% agarose gel to confirm the case.

AIm: To investigated the performance of the tissue resonance interaction method(TRIm) for the noninvasive detection of colon ***: We performed a prospective single-center blinded pilot study of consecutive adults undergoing colonoscopy at the University Hospital in Sassari, Italy. Before patients underwent colonoscopy, they were examined by the TRImprobe which detects differences in electromagnetic properties between pathological and normal tissues. All patients had completed the polyethylene glycol-containing bowel prep for the colonoscopy procedure before being screened. During the procedure the subjects remained fully dressed. A hand-held probe was moved over the abdomen and variations in electromagnetic signals were recorded for 3 spectral lines(462-465 mHz, 930 mHz, and 1395 mHz). A single investigator, blind to any clinical information, performed the test using the TRImprob system. Abnormal signals were identified and recordedas malignant or benign(adenoma or hyperplastic polyps). findings were compared with those from colonoscopy with histologic confirmation. Statistical analysis was performed by χ2 ***: A total of 305 consecutive patients fulfilling the inclusion criteria were enrolled over a period of 12 months. The most frequent indication for colonoscopy w a s a b d o m i n a l p a i n( 3 3 %). T h e T R I m p r o b w a s well accepted by all patients; none spontaneously complained about the procedure, and no adverse effects were observed. TRIm proved inaccurate for polyp detection in patients with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) and they were excluded leaving 281 subjects(mean age 59 ± 13 years; 107 males). The TRIm detected and accurately characterized all 12 adenocarcinomas and 135/137 polyps(98.5%) including 64 adenomatous(100%) found. The method identified cancers and polyps with 98.7% sensitivity, 96.2% specificity, and 97.5% diagnostic accuracy, compared to colonoscopy and histology analyses. The positive predictive value was 9

BACKGROUND An epidemic of mycobacterium chimaera (m. chimaera) infections following cardiac surgery is ongoing worldwide. The outbreak was first discovered in 2011, and it has been traced to a point source contamination of the LivaNova 3T heater-cooler unit, which is used also in Italy. International data are advocated to clarify the spectrum of clinical features of the disease as well as treatment options and outcome. We report a series of m. chimaera infections diagnosed in Treviso Hospital, including the first cases notified in Italy in 2016. CASE SUmmARY Since June 2016, we diagnosed a m. chimaera infection in nine patient who had undergone cardiac valve surgery between february 2011 and November 2016. The time between cardiac surgery and developing symptoms ranged from 6 to 97 mo. Unexplained fever, psychophysical decay, weight loss, and neurological symptoms were common complaints. The median duration of symptoms was 32 wk, and the longest was almost two years. A new cardiac murmur, splenomegaly, choroidoretinitis, anaemia or lymphopenia, abnormal liver function tests and hyponatremia were common findings. All the patients presented a prosthetic valve endocarditis, frequently associated to an ascending aortic pseudoneurysm or spondylodiscitis. m. chimaera was cultured from blood, bioprosthetic tissue, pericardial abscess, vertebral tissue, and bone marrow. mortality is high in our series, reflecting the poor outcome observed in other reports. Three patients have undergone repeat cardiac surgery. five patients are being treated with a targeted multidrug antimycobacterial regimen. CONCLUSION Patients who have undergone cardiac surgery in Italy and presenting with signs and symptoms of endocarditis must be tested for m. chimaera.
