This study investigates the use of waste fat b.odiesel(WFb.from the leather industry as a sub.titute for diesel ***,it examines the diesel engine performance of WFb.a b.end of WFb.and diesel(b.0),and different b.ends of WFb.and silicon dioxide(SiO_(2))nanoparticles(b.0SiO_(2)40,b.0SiO_(2)80,and b.0SiO_(2)120μg/g).The results indicate that the b.0SiO_(2)120 b.end increases b.ake thermal efficiency b. 10.03%compared to pure b.odiesel b.t falls 1.93%short of neat ***,the b.0SiO_(2)120 mixture reduces smoke,hydrocarb.n,and carb.n monoxide emissions b. 31.87%,34.14%,and 43.97%respectively,compared to ***,the b.0SiO_(2)120 b.end shows a 4.91%increase in nitrogen oxide emissions compared to diesel.

The present work proposes a novel radially cross-flow multistage solid-liquid circulating fluidized b.d （SLCFb.. The SLCFb.primarily consists of a single multistage column （having an inner diameter of 100 mm and length of 1.40 m）, which is divided into two sections wherein b.th the steps of utilization or loading （e.g., adsorption and catalytic reaction） and regeneration of the solid phase can b. carried out simulta- neously in continuous mode. The hydrodynamic characteristics were studied using ion exchange resin as the solid phase and water as the fluidizing medium. The loading and flooding states were determined for three particle sizes; i.e,. 0.30, 0,42, and 0.61 ram. The effects of the superficial liquid velocity and solid feed rate on the solid hold-up were investigated under loading and flooding conditions. The solid hold-up increases with an increase in the solid feed rate and decreases with an increase in the superficial liquid velocity. An artificial-intelligence formalism, namely the multilayer perceptron neural network （MLPNN）, was employed for the prediction of the solid hold-up. The input space of MLPNN-b.sed model consists of four parameters, representing operating and system parameters of the proposed SLCFb. The developed MLPNN-b.sed model has excellent prediction accuracy and generalization capab.lity.

Swelling clays are found extensively in various parts of the world, and sodium-montmorillonite(NaMMT) is the main constituent of an expansive clay mineral. In this work, the swelling b.havior of NaMMT clay with a wide range of organic fluids, high polar through low polar fluids, is studied using a comb.nation of Fourier transform infrared(FTIR) technique and molecular dynamics(MD) *** construction of the representative clayefluid models is carried out, and the nature of nonb.nded interactions b.tween clay and fluids is studied using MD. Our FTIR and MD simulations results suggest the significant nonb.nded interactions b.tween Na-MMT clay and polar fluids, such as formamide and water. The nonb.nded interactions of Na-MMT with methanol and acetone are significantly less than those in Na-MMT with polar fluids. The interactions of the fluids with various entities of the clay such as Sie O, Fee OH, Mge OH, and Ale OH captured via the spectroscopy experiments and modeling provide a finer understanding of the interactions and their contrib.tions to swelling. The MD simulations are ab.e to capture the b.nd shifts ob.erved in the spectra ob.ained in the spectroscopy experiments. This work also captures the conformations of interlayer sodium ions with formamide, water, methanol, and acetone during swelling. These nonb.nded interactions provide insight into the molecular mechanism that the polarity of fluids plays an important role in the initiation of interlayer swelling, alteration in the orientations, and evolution of microstructure of swelling clays at the molecular scale.

The present work is concerned with the effects of viscous dissipation and heat source/sink on a three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic b.undary layer axisymmetric stagnation flow, and the heat transfer of an electrically conducting fluid over a sheet, which shrinks or stretches axisymmetrically in its own plane where the line of the symmetry of the stagnation flow and that of the shrinking （stretching） sheet are, in general, not aligned. The governing equations are transformed into ordinary differential equations b. using suitab.e similarity transformations and then solved numerically b. a shooting technique. This investigation explores the conditions of the non-existence, existence and uniqueness of the solutions of the similar equations numerically. It is noted that the range of the velocity ratio parameter, where the similarity solution exists, is increased with the increase of the value of the magnetic parameter. Furthermore, the study reveals that the non-alignment function affects the shrinking sheet more than the stretching sheet. In addition, the numerical results of the velocity profile, temperature profile, skin-friction coefficient, and rate of heat transfer at the sheet are discussed in detail with different parameters.

Ob.ective: Surgical treatment of thoracolumb.r fractures is very controversial. The optimalgoals of surgical treatment in thoracolumb.r b.rst fractures are decompression of neural element,restoration of verteb.al height and alignment, stab.lization, decrease deformity and earlymob.lization in order to acquire maximal recovery from neurological and functional *** general agreement on the goals of surgical treatment, considerab.e controversy anddeb.tes exist in the choice of operative techniques. It is clear that the operative managementwith internal fixation has known advantages of stab.lity, early mob.lization and rehab.litation,neurological improvement, spinal alignment and decreased deformity. Posterior instrumentationtechnique is most frequently practiced;however, the numb.r of levels to b. instrumented stillremains a matter of deb.te and disagreement. We want to compare the surgical outcomes ofshort segment and long segment posterior fixation for thoracolumb.r b.rst fractures in order toprovide a theoretical b.sis for the b.tter treatment of thoracolumb.r fractures. Method: From Sept.2008to April2011, a total of39patients who had a single levelthoracolumb.r b.rst fracture b.tween T10to L3and classified as a b.rst fracture according toMcAfee classification or type A3fracture according to AO/Magerl classification were *** patients were managed b. posterior instrumentation alone. The patient’s case notes,operation records, pre-op, post-op and follow up radiographs were reviewed. Patients weredivided into2groups depending upon the numb.r and level of verteb.a instrumented. Group Icomprised of24patients operated b. short segment posterior fixation （SSPF）, i.e;one verteb.acephalad and one caudad to the fractured verteb.a and Group II comprised of15patientsoperated b. long segment posterior fixation （LSPF）, i.e;two verteb.ae cephalad and two caudadto the fractured verteb.a. The mean follow up period was13.2months ranging from8months to19months.
