Prevalence of precancerous lesions and conditions in India: A systematic review and meta-analysis

BACKGROUND Smoking and chewing tobacco are associated with numerous oral mucosal lesions and conditions,often leading to cancer *** To investigate the prevalence of precancerous lesions and conditions among the Indian *** Systematic search was conducted for population or community-based observational epidemiological studies in PubMed,EMBASE,Web of Science,IndMED,Google Scholar,reports of the WHO South-East Asia Region,MOHFW India reports,Science Citation Index,WHO Index Medicus of the South-East Asian Region,Reference Citation Analysis(https://***/)and Open Grey from the earliest available up to 31st January *** effect size was calculated for the prevalence of precancerous lesions and *** One hundred sixty-two estimates from 130 studies yielded 52 high,71 moderate,and seven low-quality studies from *** estimate based on crosssectional studies for leukoplakia was 4.3%(95%CI:4.0-4.6),oral submucous fibrosis was 2.7%(95%CI:2.5-3.0),palatal lesions in reverse smokers and nicotine palatine were 5.8%(95%CI:4.4-7.2),and Erythroplakia was 1.2%(95%CI:0.7-1.7),and lichen planus was 1.1%(95%CI:0.9-1.2).Amongst hospital-based studies,the pooled prevalence for Leukoplakia was 6.7%(95%CI:6.0-7.3),oral submucous fibrosis was 4.5%(95%CI:4.2-4.9),lichen planus was 7.5%(95%CI:5.3-9.6),and erythroplakia was 2.5%(95%CI:0.4-4.5),and palatal lesions in reverse smokers and nicotine palatini were 11.5%(95%CI:8.0-15.0).CONCLUSION Precancerous lesions and conditions are prevailing problems among the Indian *** is mainly due to tobacco use,the smokeless form of *** meta-analysis indicates that hospital-based studies have a higher effect size of 6.7%than community-based *** who have already developed this condition may be advised to reduce their exposure to the risk factor to prevent the condition from progressing further.

Ecological niche modelling of a critically endangered species Commiphora wightii (Arn.) Bhandari using bioclimatic and non-bioclimatic variables

Background The aim of this study is to examine the effects of four different bioclimatic predictors(current,2050,2070,and 2090 under Shared Socioeconomic Pathways SSP2-4.5)and non-bioclimatic variables(soil,habitat heterogeneity index,land use,slope,and aspect)on the habitat suitability and niche dimensions of the critically endangered plant species Commiphora wightii in *** also evaluate how niche modelling affects its extent of occurrence(EOO)and area of occupancy(AOO).Results The area under the receiver operating curve(AUC)values produced by the maximum entropy(Maxent)under various bioclimatic time frames were more than 0.94,indicating excellent model ***-bioclimatic characteristics,with the exception of terrain slope and aspect,decreased the accuracy of our ***,Maxent accuracy was the lowest across all combinations of bioclimatic and non-bioclimatic variables(AUC=0.75 to 0.78).With current,2050,and 2070 bioclimatic projections,our modelling revealed the significance of water availability parameters(BC-12 to BC-19,*** and seasonal precipitation as well as precipitation of wettest,driest,and coldest months and quarters)on habitat suitability for this ***,with 2090 projection,energy variables such as mean temperature of wettest quarter(BC-8)and isothermality(BC-3)were identified as governing *** salt,rooting conditions,land use type(grassland),characteristics of the plant community,and slope were also noticed to have an impact on this *** distribution modelling of this species in both its native(west-ern India)and exotic(North-east,Central Part of India,as well as northern and eastern Ghat)habitats,we were also able to simulate both its fundamental niche and its realized *** EOO and AOO analysis reflects the possibility of many new areas in India where this species can be planted and *** According to the calculated area under the various suitability classes,we can conclude

Trust-based co-operative routing for secure communication in mobile ad hoc networks

The working of a Mobile Ad hoc NETwork(MANET)relies on the supportive cooperation among the network *** due to its intrinsic features,a misbehaving node can easily lead to a routing *** paper presents two trust-based routing schemes,namely Trust-based Self-Detection Routing(TSDR)and Trust-based Cooperative Routing(TCOR)designed with an Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector(AODV)*** proposed work covers a wide range of security challenges,including malicious node identification and prevention,accurate trust quantification,secure trust data sharing,and trusted route *** brings a prominent solution for mitigating misbehaving nodes and establishing efficient communication in *** is empirically validated based on a performance comparison with the current Evolutionary Self-Cooperative Trust(ESCT)scheme,Generalized Trust Model(GTM),and the conventional AODV *** extensive simulations are conducted against three different varying network *** results affirm the improved values of eight popular performance metrics overcoming the existing routing *** the two proposed works,TCOR is more suitable for highly scalable networks;TSDR suits,however,the MANET application better with its small *** work thus makes a significant contribution to the research community,in contrast to many previous works focusing solely on specific security aspects,and results in a trade-off in the expected values of evaluation parameters and asserts their efficiency.

Coordinated transcriptional control employing synthetic promoters and transcription factors （TFs） can be used to achieve customized regulation of gene expression in planta. Synthetic promoter technology has yielded a series of promoters with modified cis-regulatory elements that provide useful tools for efficient modulation of gene expression. In addition, the use of zinc fingers （ZFs）, transcription activator-like effectors （TALEs）, and catalytically inactive clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats （CRISPR）-associated protein 9 （dCas9） has made it feasible to engineer TFs that can produce targeted gene expression regulation; these approaches are particularly effective when artificial TFs are coupled with transcriptional activators or repressors. This review focuses on strategies used to engineer both promoters and TFs in the context of targeted transcriptional regulation. We also discuss the creation of synthetic inducible platforms, which can be used to impart stress tolerance to plants. We propose that combinatorial ＂cis-trans engineering＂ using a CRISPR-dCas9-based bipartite module could be used to regulate the expression of multiple target genes. This approach provides an attractive tool for introduction of specific qualitative traits into plants, thus enhancing their overall environmental adaptability.
