Estimation of crowd density from UAVs images based on corner detection procedures and clustering analysis

With rapid developments in platforms and sensors technology in terms of digital cameras and video recordings,crowd monitoring has taken a considerable attentions in many disciplines such as psychology,sociology,engineering,and computer *** is due to the fact that,monitoring of the crowd is necessary to enhance safety and controllable movements to minimize the risk particularly in highly crowded incidents(***).One of the platforms that have been extensively employed in crowd monitoring is unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs),because UAVs have the capability to acquiring fast,low costs,high-resolution and real-time images over crowd *** addition,geo-referenced images can also be provided through integration of on-board positioning sensors(***/IMU)with vision sensors(digital cameras and laser scanner).In this paper,a new testing procedure based on feature from accelerated segment test(FAST)algorithms is introduced to detect the crowd features from UAV images taken from different camera orientations and *** proposed test started with converting a circle of 16 pixels surrounding the center pixel into a vector and sorting it in ascending/descending order.A single pixel which takes the ranking number 9(for FAST-9)or 12(for FAST-12)was then compared with the center *** assessment in terms of completeness and correctness was used to assess the performance of the new testing procedure before and after filtering the crowd *** results show that the proposed algorithms are able to extract crowd features from different UAV ***,the values of Completeness range from 55 to 70%whereas the range of correctness values was 91 to 94%.

Ultimate bearing capacity of strip footing resting on clay soil mixed with tire-derived aggregates

This study investigated the use of recycled tire-derived aggregate(TDA)mixed with kaolin as a method of increasing the ultimate bearing capacity(UBC)of a strip *** 1g physical modeling tests were prepared in a rigid box of 0.6 m×0.9 m in plan and 0.6 m in *** sample preparation,0%,20%,40%,or 60%(by weight)of powdery,shredded,small-sized granular(G 1–4 mm)or large-sized granular(G 5–8 mm)TDA was mixed with the kaolin.A strip footing was then placed on the stabilized kaolin and was caused to fail under stress-controlled conditions to determine the UBC.A rigorous 3D finite element analysis was developed in Optum G-3 to determine the UBC values based on the experimental test *** experimental results showed that,except for the 20%powdery TDA,the TDA showed an increase in the UBC of the strip *** kaolin mixed with 20%G(5–8 mm),the UBC showed a threefold increase over that for the unreinforced *** test with 20%G(1–4 mm)recorded the highest subgrade *** was observed that the UBC calculated using finite element modeling overestimated the experimental UBC by an average of 9%.

Decoherence of genuine multipartite entanglement for local non-Markovian–Lorentzian reservoirs

We study decoherence effects on genuine multipartite entanglement for three and four qubits, spatially separated and subjected to local Lorentzian reservoirs. Employing recent techniques to compute genuine negativity for multipartite systems and an exact solvable model, we analyze the dynamics of genuine entanglement for different coupling bandwidths and detunings. We find that collapses and revivals can occur by varying these parameters for various multipartite quantum states.

Electronic interactions of the Group 2A elements with magnesium have been studied through the dilute solid solutions in binary Mg-Ca,Mg-Sr and Mg-Ba *** investigation incorporated the difference in the‘Work Function'(ΔWF)measured via Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy(KPFM),as a property directly affected by interatomic bond types,*** electronic structure,nanoindentation measurements,and Stacking Fault Energy values reported in the *** was shown that the nano-hardness of the solid-solutionα-Mg phase changed in the order of Mg-Ca>Mg-Sr>***,it was shown,by also considering the nano-hardness levels,that SFE of a solid-solution is closely correlated with its‘Work Function'***-hardness measurements on the eutectics andΔWF difference between eutectic phases enabled an assessment of the relative bond strength and the pertinent electronic structures of the eutectics in the three *** withΔWF and at least qualitative verification of those computed SFE values with some experimental measurement techniques were considered important as those computational methods are based on zero Kelvin degree,relatively simple atomic models and a number of *** asserted by this investigation,if the results of measurement techniques can be qualitatively correlated with those of the computational methods,it can be possible to evaluate the electronic structures in alloys,starting from binary systems,going to ternary and then multi-elemental *** investigation has shown that such a qualitative correlation is *** all,the SFE values are not treated as absolute values but rather become essential in comparative investigations when assessing the influences of alloying elements at a fundamental level,that is,free electron density *** study indicated that the principles of‘electronic metallurgy'in developing multi-elemental alloy systems can be followed via practical experimental methods,i.e.ΔWF measurements using KPF

Model inference using the Akaike information criterion for turbulent flow of non-Newtonian crude oils in pipelines

The friction factor is a crucial parameter in calculating frictional pressure losses. however, it is a decisive challenge to estimate, especially for turbulent flow of non-Newtonian fluids in pipes. The objective of this paper is to examine the validity of friction factor correla- tions adopting a new informative-based approach, the Akaike information criterion （AIC） along with the coeffi- cient of determination （R2）. Over a wide range of measured data, the results show that each model is accurate when it is examined against a specific dataset while the E1-Emam et al. （Oil Gas J 101：74-83, 2003） model proves its supe- riority. In addition to its simple and explicit form, it covers a wide range of flow behavior indices and generalized Reynolds numbers. It is also shown that the traditional belief that a high R2 means a better model may be mis- leading. AIC overcomes the shortcomings of R2 as a trade between the complexity of the model and its accuracy not only to find a best approximating model but also to develop statistical inference based on the data. The authors present AIC to initiate an innovative strategy to help alleviate several challenges faced by the professionals in the oil and gas industry. Modeling the spread of spatio-temporal phenomena through the incorporation of ANFIS and genetically controlled cellular automata: a case study on forest fire

Virtual representation and simulation of spatio-temporal phenomena is a promising goal for the production of an advanced digital *** modeling,which is one of the most helpful analyses in the geographic information system(GIS),plays a prominent role in meeting this *** study proposes a new model that considers both aspects of static and dynamic behaviors of spreadable spatio-temporal in cellular automata(CA)***,artificial intelligence tools such as adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system(ANFIS)and genetic algorithm(GA)were used in accordance with the objectives of knowledge discovery and *** conditions in updating states are considered so traditional CA transition rules can be accompanied with the impact of fuzzy discovered knowledge and the solution of spread *** focused on the estimation of forest fire growth as an important case study for decision makers.A two-dimensional cellular representation of the combustion of heterogeneous fuel types and density on non-flat terrain were successfully linked with dynamic wind and slope *** validation of the simulation on experimental data indicated a relatively realistic head-fire *** investigations showed that the results obtained using the dynamic controlling with GA in the absence of static modeling with ANFIS were unacceptable.

heat transfer analysis in particle-laden flows using the immersed boundary method

This paper investigates an efficient immersed boundary method(IBM)for multiple-core CPU machines with local grid refinement for the calculation of heat transfer between fluids and finite-sized *** fluid momentum equations are solved by using the fractional step method,while the energy equation is solved by employing the second-order Adams-Bashforth *** efficient load balancing between the CPU cores,the coupling between particles and fluid is obtained by applying the body force in the fluid equations,which depends on the solid volume fraction of particles contained in each grid cell,and then by linearly interpolating the particle temperature and velocity on the fluid grid cell(in place of the delta function commonly used in literature).Several test cases from the literature are studied,and good agreement is observed between the simulation results and the ***,a scaling study on multiple core machines is performed,demonstrating the proposed IBM's capabilities for a significant reduction in processing time.

Excessive dependence on fossil fuels has precipitated various challenges,including Greenhouse Gas(GhG)emissions,health hazards,and the depletion of natural *** perils underscore the importance of conducting requisite risk assessments for alternative fuel sources like Compressed Natural Gas(CNG)to ensure their safe *** study undertakes a quantitative risk assessment encompassing diverse facets of the CNG sector holistically,aiming to pinpoint,analyze,and appraise risks,thus empowering policymakers to devise targeted mitigation *** achieve this goal,the collected data undergoes analysis via an integrated approach combining the Fuzzy Analytic hierarchy Process(F-AhP)and Fuzzy Technique of Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution(F-TOPSIS).The study's findings reveal a heightened risk of explosion within the CNG sector owing to its highly combustible ***,it computes an overall risk index of o0.266 for the CNG sector in a developing nation like Pakistan,indicating a relatively lower risk level compared to other fuel *** are thus advised to undertake requisite measures concerning infrastructure,customer safety,and environmental and economic stability to accrue both immediate and long-term *** appli-cation of hybrid techniques for the risk assessment of the CNG sector in the case of a developing country marks the novelty of this study and a study of the first of its kind.
