This paper addresses the questions related to the cost of China＇s bank restructuring and how it has been financed. We first propose a framework for recognizing losses. Then, we examine the recent major moves by the Chinese Government to repair the country. ＇s bank balance sheets. Finally, we explore the implications of the Chinese Government＇s methods offunding bank restructuring. We find that the Chinese Government has been decisive in confronting the costly task of bank restructuring. So far, Chinese taxpayers have paid most of the bill for bank restructuring.

OBJECTIVE： To evaluate the association of X-ray cross-complementing group 1 （XRCC1） Arg399GIn, Arg194Trp and Arg280His polymorphisms with the risk of glioma. DATA SOURCES： A systematic literature search of papers published from January 2000 to August 2012 in PubMed, Embase, China National Knowledge Infrastructure database, and Wanfang da- tabase was performed. The key words used were ＂glioma＂, ＂polymorphism＂, and ＂XRCC1 or X-ray repair cross-complementing group 1＂. References cited in the retrieved articles were screened manually to identify additional eligible studies. STUDY SELECTION： Studies were identified according to the following inclusion criteria： case-control design was based on unrelated individuals; and genotype frequency was available to estimate an odds ratio （OR） and 95% confidence interval （CI）. Meta-analysis was performed for the selected studies after strict screening. Dominant and recessive genetic models were used and the relationship between homozygous mutant genotype frequencies and mutant gene frequency and glioma incidence was investigated. We chose the fixed or random effect model according to the heterogeneity to calculate OR and 95%CI, and sensitivity analyses were conducted. Publication bias was examined using the inverted funnel plot and the Egger＇s test using Stata 12.0 software. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES： Association of XRCC1 Arg399GIn, Arg194Trp, and Arg280His polymorphisms with the risk of glioma, and subgroup analyses were performed according to differ- ent ethnicities of the ***： Twelve articles were included in the meta-analysis. Eleven of the articles were concerned with the Arg399GIn polymorphism and glioma onset risk. Significantly increased glioma risks were found only in the dominant model （Gin/Gin ＋ GIn/Arg versus Arg/Arg： OR = 1.26, 95%CI= 1.03-1.54, P = 0.02）. In the subgroup analysis by ethnicity, significantly increased risk was found in Asian subjects in the recessive （OR = 1.46, 95%CI= 1.04-2.45, P = 0.03） and

The classic polynomial chaos method（PCM）, characterized as an intrusive methodology,has been applied to uncertainty propagation（UP） in many dynamic systems. However, the intrusive polynomial chaos method（IPCM） requires tedious modification of the governing equations, which might introduce errors and can be impractical. Alternative to IPCM, the non-intrusive polynomial chaos method（NIPCM） that avoids such modifications has been developed. In spite of the frequent application to dynamic problems, almost all the existing works about NIPCM for dynamic UP fail to elaborate the implementation process in a straightforward way, which is important to readers who are unfamiliar with the mathematics of the polynomial chaos theory. Meanwhile, very few works have compared NIPCM to IPCM in terms of their merits and applicability. Therefore, the mathematic procedure of dynamic UP via both methods considering parametric and initial condition uncertainties are comparatively discussed and studied in the present paper. Comparison of accuracy and efficiency in statistic moment estimation is made by applying the two methods to several dynamic UP problems. The relative merits of both approaches are discussed and summarized. The detailed description and insights gained with the two methods through this work are expected to be helpful to engineering designers in solving dynamic UP problems.

OBJECTIVE Activation of the PINK1/Parkin-mediated autophagy pathway has been proposed to play a protective role in the development of neurological disorders through the elimination of damaged macromolecules or *** to excessive manganese(Mn) causes neurotoxicity and can produce a Parkinson disease(PD)-like neurological *** dysfunction and oxidative stress are implicated in the mechanism of Mn induced *** present study was designed to determine whether Dendrobium nobile ***(DNLA),a Chinese medicinal herb extract,confers protective function over Mn-induced cell toxicity,and to investigate whether the modulation of PINK1/Parkin-mediated autophagy is involved in the mechanism of DNLA-mediated cell protection over Mn *** AND RESULTS Rat adrenal pheochromocytoma PC12 cells were utilized as an in vitro model of Mn cell *** was found that the treatment of the PC12 cells with Mn resulted in concentration-dependent cell death,accompanied by a decrease in mitochondrial respiration capacity and an increase in ROS generation,whereas pretreatment of cells with DNLA significantly alleviated cell toxicity induced by Mn and improved mitochondrial function and oxidative *** treatment enhanced apoptotic cells along with a marked increase in the protein expression of Bax and a decrease in the expression of Bcl-2 *** the contrary,DNLA increased Bcl-2 expression,and concomitantly dramatically decreased the Bax/Bcl-2 *** of the expression of PINK1 and Parkin revealed that pretreatment of cells with DNLA significantly alleviated the decrease in protein levels of both PINK1 and Parkin caused by ***,cells treated with Mn exhibited increased expression of LC3-Ⅱ and a decrease in accumulation of P62,which was noticeably reversed by the pretreatment of cells with *** DNLA inhibits Mn induced cytotoxicity,which may be mediated through modulating PINK1/Parkin-mediated au

A Buffer Management Scheme for Packet Queues in MANET

We introduce a new scheme of buffer management to handle packet queues in Mobile Ad hoc Networks （MANETs） for fixed and mobile nodes. In this scheme, we try to achieve efficient queuing in the buffer of a centrally communicating MANET node through an active queue management strategy by assigning dynamic buffer space to all neighboring nodes in proportion to the number of packets received from neighbors and hence controlling packet drop probabilities. Our simulation study reveals that the proposed scheme is a way to improve the buffer management for packet queues in MANET nodes in terms of packet loss ratio, transmission efficiency, and some other important system parameters.
