BACKGROUND The Coronavirus disease 19(COVID-19)-related psychiatric burden partly results from prolonged social stress *** have examined the psychiatric impact of COVID-19 on Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders,Fifth Edition(DSM 5)and International Classification of Diseases 11th Revision(ICD-11)categories,implicating multiple diagnoses,complicating clinical *** To verify whether COVID-19-related psychopathology spans multiple DSM-5 and ICD-11 diagnoses,but not in a random ***,empirical analysis of the multiple associated symptoms will better describe COVID-19-related *** We conducted a bi-national study during the first surge of the pandemic:an Italian sample(n=21217,studied March-April 2020);and three representative longitudinal samples from Israel(n=1276,1189,and 1432 respectively,studied May-July 2020).Data in Italy were collected by a national internet-based survey with an initially approached sample of about one million persons and in Israel by the Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics using probability-based national representative *** analysis focused on the frequency and patterns of reported multiple mental health *** Combinations with all symptoms were more prevalent than combinations with fewer symptoms,with no majorities-minorities differences in both countries,demonstrating the generalizability of the transdiagnostic pattern of mental health issues in both nations.A history of previous mental disorder(Italian study)and an increase in symptom prevalence over time(Israel study)were associated with an increased number of ***:Based on finding correlated symptom diversity spanning conventional diagnostic categories,we suggest that the pattern of mental health issues associated with the COVID-19 pandemic is *** The findings have implications for improving prevention and treatment of COVID-19 related psychopathology and

Electrical contact materials are generally Ag-or Cu-based composites and play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of electrical equipments and electronic *** MAX(M is an early transition metal,A is an element from III or IV main groups,and X is carbon or/and nitrogen)phase ceramics display a unique combination of properties and may serve as an ideal reinforcement phase for electrical contact *** biological materials evolved in nature generally exhibit three-dimensional(3D)interpenetrating-phase architectures,which may offer useful inspiration for the architectural design of electrical contact ***,a series of bi-continuous Ag-Ti_(3)SiC_(2) MAX phase composites with high ceramic contents exceeding 50 vol.%and having micron-and ultrafine-scaled 3D interpenetrating-phase architectures,wherein both constituents were continuous and mutually interspersed,were exploited by pressureless infiltration of Ag melt into partially sintered Ti_(3)SiC_(2) *** mechanical and electrical properties as well as the friction and wear performance of the composites were investigated and revealed to be closely dependent on the ceramic contents and characteristic structural *** composites exhibited a good combination of properties with high hardness over 2.3 GPa,high flexural strength exceeding 530 MPa,decent fracture toughness over 10 MPa·m^(1/2),and good wear resistance with low wear rate at an order of 10^(-5)mm^(3)/(N·m),which were much superior compared to the counterparts made by powder metallurgy *** particular,the hardness,electrical conductivity,strength,and fracture toughness of the composites demonstrated a simultaneous improvement as the structure was refined from micron-to ultrafine-scales at equivalent ceramic *** good combination of properties along with the facile processing route makes the Ag-Ti_(3)SiC_(2)3D interpenetrating-phase composites appealing for electrical contact applicatio

Fully digital intensity modulated LIDAR

In several applications, such as collision avoidance, it is necessary to have a system able to rapidly detect the simultaneous presence of different obstacles. In general, these applications do not require high resolution performance, but it is necessary to assure high system reliability also within critical scenarios, as in the case of partially transparent atmosphere or environment in presence of multiple objects(implying multiple echoes having different delay times.) This paper describes the algorithm, the architecture and the implementation of a digital Light Detection and Ranging(LIDAR) system based on a chirped optical carrier. This technique provides some advantages compared to the pulsed approach, primarily the reduction of the peak power of the laser. In the proposed architecture all the algorithms for signal processing are implemented using digital hardware. In this way, some specific advantages are obtained: improved detection performance(larger dynamics, range and resolution), capability of detecting multiple obstacles having different echoes amplitude, reduction of the noise effects, reduction of the costs, size and weight of the resulting equipment. The improvement provided by this fully digital solution is potentially useful in different applications such as: collision avoidance systems, 3D mapping of environments and, in general, remote sensing systems which need wide distance and dynamics.

Involvement of interleukin-15 and interleukin-21, two γ-chain-related cytokines, in celiac disease

Celiac disease (CD), an enteropathy caused by dietary gluten in genetically susceptible individuals, is histologically characterized by villous atrophy, crypt cell hyperplasia, and increased number of intra-epithelial lymphocytes. The nature of CD pathogenesis remains unclear, but recent evidence indicates that both innate and adaptive immune responses are necessary for the phenotypic expression and pathologic changes characteristic of CD. Extensive studies of molecules produced by immune cells in the gut of CD patients have led to identification of two cytokines, namely interleukin (IL)-15 and IL-21, which are thought to play a major role in orchestrating the mucosal inflammatory response in CD. Here we review the current knowledge of the expression and function of IL-15 and IL-21 in CD.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal motor neuron disease typically leading to death within 5 years from symptom onset. ALS familial forms are associated with mutations in several genes, including Superoxide Dismutase 1 (SOD1) and Fused in Sarcoma (FUS). Although genes linked to ALS participate in disparate biological processes, ALS genetic variants largely trigger shared pathogenic events such as oxidative stress, protein aggregation and defects in RNA processing. Moreover, ALS patients show systemic hypermetabolism that leads to increased energy expenditure at rest and thus weight loss during the disease course.1 ALS hypermetabolic phenotype and weight loss have been extensively characterized in mice bearing the G93A substitution in SOD1 protein (SOD1-G93A), which exhibit skeletal-muscle metabolic reprogramming before disease onset.

Interleukin-21 triggers effector cell responses in the gut

In the gut of patients with Crohn's disease and patients with ulcerative colitis,the major forms of inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD) in humans,the tissue-damaging immune response is mediated by an active cross-talk between immune and non-immune *** evidence indicates also that cytokines produced by these cells play a major role in initiating and shaping this pathologic *** such cytokine seems to be interleukin(IL)-21,a member of the common γ-chainreceptor ***-21 is produced in excess in the in-flamed intestine of patients with IBD mostly by activated CD4+ T helper cells co-expressing interferon-γ and follicular T helper ***,both in vitro and in vivo studies indicate that excessive IL-21 production leads to the activation of multiple signaling pathways that expand and sustain the ongoing mucosal *** this article,we review the available data supporting the pathogenic role of IL-21 in IBD.
