Objective:To investigate oncological outcomes in patients with bladder cancer who underwent minimally invasive radical cystectomy(MIRC)or open radical cystectomy(ORC).Methods:We identified patients with bladder cancer who underwent radical cystectomy(RC)in 13 centers of the Chinese Bladder Cancer Consortium(CBCC).Perioperative outcomes were compared between MIRC and *** influence of surgical approaches on overall survival(Os)and cancer-specific survival(Css)in the entire study group and subgrou.s.classified according to pathologic stage or lymph node(LN)status was assessed with the log-rank *** Cox proportional hazard models were used to evaluate the association among Os,Css and risk factors of ***:Of 2098 patients who underwent RC,1243 patients underwent MIRC(1087 laparoscopic RC and 156 robotic-assisted RC,respectively),while 855 patients underwent *** significant differences were noted in positive surgical margin rate and 90-day postoperative mortality *** was associated with less estimated blood loss,more LN yield,higher rate of neobladder diversion,longer operative time,and longer length of hospital *** was no significant difference in Os and Css according to surgical approaches(pZ0.653,and 0.816,respectively).subgroup analysis revealed that Os and Css were not significantly different regardless of the status of extravesical involvement or LN *** Cox regression analyses showed that the surgical approach was not a significant predictor of Os and ***:Our study showed that MIRC was comparable to conventional ORC in terms of Os and Css.

It is well known that exposure to environmental stresses could enhance the adaptability of bacteria and up-regulate the expression of a variety of oxidative stress-related genes and antioxidant *** is unclear whether the adaptability of microorganisms formed naturally in special environments could transfer to other *** study aimed to evaluate the effects of untreated and ethanol-induced Lactococcus lactis intracellular extracts(u-IE and E-IE)on alcohol metabolism in *** positive effects of E-IE on alcohol metabolism in mice were revealed by the enhanced latency of loss of righting reflex(LORR),the reduced duration of LORR,the decrease of blood alcohol concentration,as well as the elevation of alcohol dehydrogenase(ADH)activities in the stomach and liver ***,the potential benefits of E-IE on the liver were evaluated by biochemical parameters including the activities of serum transaminase,the levels of antioxidant enzymes,and the pathological changes of liver *** present work put forward a new point that appropriate ethanol stress could enhance the intracellular ADH activity of ***,and its intracellular extracts could continue to enhance alcohol metabolism in mice.

urinary bladder cancer(uBC)is a heterogeneous disease with highly variable clinical outcomes and responses to *** some advances in the molecular understanding of uBC,this knowledge still has not been translated to the clinic in terms of improvements in the prognosis and treatment of *** urinary bladder tumor models representative of the human disease in terms of histology and behavior are needed to study factors involved in tumor initiation,progression and ***,accurate model systems would facilitate identification of new therapeutic targets and predictive markers that could lead to optimization of existing therapies and development of new *** established cancer cell lines derived from human urinary bladder tumors representing different grades and stages have been used as experimental models for uBC *** cell lines reflect some of the genetic and morphologic alterations observed in human urothelial carcinoma and serve as simplified models to study the behavior of cancer cells in ***,their translational potential is limited due to the artificial conditions,in which the cells are maintained,grown and *** models offer a more complex and realistic model for the establishment,development,and progression of tumors as well as to evaluate new therapeutic *** the years,the authors'group has worked with several uBC cell lines,established and characterized chemically induced uBC models,and patient-derived xenografts *** this study,the authors will provide a summary of the uBC models developed by their group,analyze their translational potential and weaknesses,and define areas that remain to be explored.

In this study,we examine the dynamics and microphysical structures of a deep compact thunderstorm event driving cloud-to-ground(CG)lightning over the Nanjing area located within the Yangtze-Huai River Basin(YHRB)during the monsoon break *** microphysical structures combined with the dynamics in the glaciated,mixed-phase,and warm-phase layers during the formative,intensifying,and mature stages of the thunderstorm were first investigated using C-band polarimetric radar and CG lightning *** results show that the mature phase of the thunderstorm produced a local cold pool,which collided with a southerly warm wind,resulting in a strong *** strong updraft favored the lifting of raindrops to the mixed-phase region to form abundant supercooled liquid water and *** the formative stage to the developing stage and further to the mature stage,increased ZH-and reduced ZDR-valu.s.within the mixed-phase region are found,especially within the strong updraft region(>5 m s^(-1)).This phenomenon suggests that supercooled raindrops evolved into large hydrometeors(graupel and hail),indicative of a strong riming *** signatures within this region are consistent with a favorable environment for thunderstorm electrification and generate the most frequent lightning during the thunderstorm life cycle.

Traditional surgical treatment is difficult to thoroughly remove esophageal squamous cell carcinomas(EsCC),postoperative recurrence caused by residual tumor cells is a critical factor in the poor *** surgical resection promotes the local angiogenesis at the tumor site,further exacerbating the proliferation and invasion of residual tumor cells,it is urgent to inhibit angiogenesis after ***,a functional peptide-based nanomedicine was obtained from peptide–drug conjugates,which are composed of a hydrophilic targeting motif(vascular endothelial growth factor family and their receptors(VEGFR)targeting peptide for anti-angiogenesis),an ester-linked hydrophobic oridonin(ORI).The nanomedicine exhibits esterase-catalyzed disassembly and drug release,significantly enhanced the anti-tumor efficacy of chemotherapeutics in a postoperative tumor recurrence model through synergistic anti-angiogenic *** study provides an integrated solution for anti-angiogenesisaugmented chemotherapy and demonstrates the encouraging potential for postoperative treatment.

*** this study,we aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics and outcomes of patients with coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)in the Beijing ***:In this retrospective study,we enrolled inpatients admitted for COVID-19 in the Fifth Medical Center of Chinese PLA General Hospital in Beijing between November 10,2022,and January 30,*** and clinical features and treatment outcomeswere comprehensively *** used logistic regression and linear regression analyses to explore the risk factors associated with disease severity and time of nucleic acid conversion,***:A total of 1010 hospitalized patients with COVID-19 were *** median age was 43.0 years(interquartile range,28.0–63.0),and patients ageds and≥60 years comprised 71.2%and 28.8%of total included patients,*** clinical classification of mild(74.6%,753/1010),moderate(21.0%,212/1010),severe(2.7%,27/1010),and unidentified(1.8%,18/1010)was separately recorded;1005 patients were discharged,and 5 patients died in the *** outbreak of the emerging epidemic witnessed an evident increase in the proportion of moderate(42.9%vs.16.4%)and severe(10.3%vs.1.1%)cases after December 7,*** with a moderate/severe classification had higher levels of procalcitonin,IL-6,serum ferritin,C-reactive protein,lactic dehydrogenase,serum urea nitrogen,and D-dimer and lower counts of CD4+T,CD8+T,and B cells(all Pultivariable regression analysis revealed that increased odds of disease severity were associated with the following factors:age≥60 years,IL-6>7 pg/mL,lactic dehydrogenase level>245 u/L,cough,and fever at ***≥80 years and chronic lung diseasewere independent risk factors in the nonmild group in elderly *** addition,the duration for nucleic acid to turn negativewas approximately 5.0 d(interquartile range,3.0–7.0).Prolonged time of nucleic acid conversion was associated with age≥60 years,serum urea nitrogen level>8

Designing zeolites for the removal of aqueous PFAs:a perspective

Zeolites possess unique sieving properties that offer a high selectivity for removing pollutants,such as perand polyfluoroalkyl su.s.ances(PFAs).However,there are limited studies examining the efficacy of zeolites as PFAs *** literature explores the effects of certain frameworks and the silica alumina ratio(sAR),and only one study has shown the effect of silanol defects on the hydrophobicity of the *** most zeolites are synthesized in hydroxide media,this leads to formation of silanol defects,which increase hydrophilicity with a greater effect than the inclusion of non-si T *** is critical that specific characterizations be performed to demonstrate the specific effects of different properties of the *** particular,synthesis,modification,and/or repair in fluoride media can be used to increase the hydrophobicity of zeolites by reducing silanol defects,and increasing Lewis acidity.

Malnutrition is a common comorbidity among patients with ***,no nutrition-screening tool has been recognized in this population.A quick and easy screening tool for nutrition with high sensitivity and easy-to-use is *** on the previous 25 nutrition-screening tools,the Delphi method was made by the members of the Chinese society of Nutritional Oncology to choose the most useful item from each *** to these results,we built a nutrition-screening tool named age,intake,weight,and walking(AIWW).Malnutrition was defined based on the scored patient-generated subjective global assessment(PG-sGA).Concurrent validity was evaluated using the Kendall tau coefficient and kappa consistency between the malnutrition risks of AIWW,nutritional risk screening 2002(NRs-2002),and malnutrition screening tool(MsT).Clinical benefit was calculated by the decision curve analysis(DCA),integrated discrimination improvement(IDI),and continuous net reclassification improvement(c NRI).A total of 11,360 patients(male,n=6,024(53.0%)were included in the final study cohort,and 6,363 patients had malnutrition based on *** on AIWW,NRs-2002,and MsT,7,545,3,469,and1,840 patients were at risk of malnutrition,*** sensitivities of AIWW,NRs-2002,and MsT risks were 0.910,0.531,and 0.285,and the specificities were 0.768,0.946,and *** Kendall tau coefficients of AIWW,NRs-2002,and MsT risks were 0.588,0.501,and 0.326,*** area under the curve of AIWW,NRs-2002,and MsT risks were0.785,0.739,and 0.630,*** IDI,c NRI,and DCA showed that AIWW is non-inferior to NRs-2002(IDI:0.002(-0.009,0.013),c NRI:-0.015(-0.049,0.020)).AIWW scores can also predict the survival of patients with *** missed diagnosis rates of AIWW,NRs-2002,and MsT were 0.09%,49.0%,and 73.2%,*** showed a better nutritionscreening effect than NRs-2002 and MsT for patients with cancer and could be recommended as an alternative nutritionscreening tool
