Risk of ischaemic and haemorrhagic stroke in Chinese undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention treated with potent P2Y12 inhibitor versus clopidogrel

Background Stroke after acute coronary syndrome(ACS)can be *** is uncertain whether the risks of ischaemic stroke or intracranial haemorrhage(ICH)are associated with different choices of P2Y12 inhibitors(potent P2Y12 inhibitors such as ticagrelor and prasugrel vs clopidogrel).Even though East Asians are known to have different thrombotic and haemorrhagic profiles from Caucasians,data on Chinese patients are *** This was a retrospective cohort study conducting in Chinese patients with ACS who underwent first-ever percutaneous coronary intervention from 14 hospitals in hong kong between 2010 and *** primary efficacy endpoint was ischaemic *** secondary efficacy endpoint was a composite outcome of thrombotic events including all-cause mortality,non-fatal myocardial infarction and ischaemic *** primary safety endpoint was *** secondary safety endpoint was a composite of major bleeding *** After adjustment of baseline characteristics by 1:1 propensity score matching,a total of 6220 patients(3110 on each group)were *** with clopidogrel,potent P2Y12 inhibitors were associated with a lower risk of ischaemic stroke(HR 0.57;95%CI 0.37 to 0.87;p=0.008)and a lower risk of thrombotic events(HR 0.77;95%CI 0.66 to 0.90;p=0.001).Potent P2Y12 inhibitor was associated with similar risk of ICH(HR 0.65;95%CI 0.34 to 1.25,p=0.20)and major bleeding(HR 0.83;95%CI 0.68 to 1.01,p=0.069).Conclusions Potent P2Y12 inhibitors were associated with a lower adjusted risk of ischaemic stroke and thrombotic events,compared with *** risks of ICH and major bleeding were similar.

Urocortin and other hypothalamus corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) polypeptides play biologically diverse roles in the stress, cardiovascular and inflammatory responses by acting on central and peripheral CRF receptors. Urocortin shows a significantly high sequence homology to CRF, and the concurrent expression of type-2 CRF (CRF2) receptors with urocortin in the heart suggests that urocortin may play a physiological role in the cardiac function. Urocortin is thought to be the endogenous agonist producing the cardiovascular actions previously attributed to CRF. This review highlights the current novel findings on the molecular and cellular mechanisms by which urocortin may exert its cardiovascular protective action.

Perception of Potential Health Risk of Climate Change and Utilization of Fans and Air Conditioners in a Representative Population of hong kong

Climate change, especially as reflected in heat waves, is a rising threat worldwide. Appropriate use of cooling devices can protect people from health impacts during a heat wave. A population-based telephone survey was conducted in a representative sample of residents in hong kong to investigate ownership and use of domestic cooling devices, identify correlates, and examine their associations with risk perception of potential health impact of climate change. More than 90% of the 1002 respondents owned and used cooling devices at home. The majority(57.7%) perceived the potential health risk of climate change at a high level. However, risk perception had no relationship with ownership and utilization of cooling devices. Old people(≥ 65 years), the low-educated, those with low income, and those with chronic diseases were more likely not to use air conditioners when feeling *** findings suggest that there are no signs showing people have taken more protective actions although half of respondents recognized climate change as a threat. Familial economic condition may be a major determinant in ownership and use of air conditioners at home. Old people and those with chronic diseases are at high risk of adverse exposure to climate change and therefore should be equipped with appropriate measures to use cooling devices.

Nanoimprint-induced strain engineering of two-dimensional materials

The high stretchability of two-dimensional(2D)materials has facilitated the possibility of using external strain to manipulate their ***,strain engineering has emerged as a promising technique for tailoring the performance of 2D materials by controlling the applied elastic strain *** various types of strain engineering methods have been proposed,deterministic and controllable generation of the strain in 2D materials remains a challenging ***,we report a nanoimprint-induced strain engineering(NISE)strategy for introducing controllable periodic strain profiles on 2D materials.A three-dimensional(3D)tunable strain is generated in a molybdenum disulfide(MoS_(2))sheet by pressing and conforming to the topography of an imprint *** strain profiles generated in MoS_(2)are demonstrated and verified by Raman and photoluminescence(PL)*** strain modulation capability of NISE is investigated by changing the imprint pressure and the patterns of the imprint molds,which enables precise control of the strain magnitudes and distributions in MoS_(2).Furthermore,a finite element model is developed to simulate the NISE process and reveal the straining behavior of MoS_(2).This deterministic and effective strain engineering technique can be easily extended to other materials and is also compatible with common semiconductor fabrication processes;therefore,it provides prospects for advances in broad nanoelectronic and optoelectronic devices.

Transdermal drug delivery systems(TDDs) avoid gastrointestinal degradation and hepatic first-pass metabolism, providing good drug bioavailability and patient compliance. One emerging type of TDDs is the wearable patch worn on the skin surface to deliver medication through the skin. They can generally be grouped into passive and active types, depending on the properties of materials,design principles and integrated devices. This review describes the latest advancement in the development of wearable patches, focusing on the integration of stimulus-responsive materials and *** development is deemed to provide a dosage, temporal, and spatial control of therapeutics delivery.

Unidirectionally aligned nanorods(NRs)are of great importance for different applications,including displays,lighting,and ***,many alignment techniques were studied to align quantum rods(QRs).However,the brightness of these films,due to the limited concentration of aligned quantum rods in the film,is not enough for their implementation as brightness enhancement films(BEFs)in *** can be ascribed to the poor miscibility of quantum rods in polymer and strong concentration dependence of the polarized *** ligands of NR are very important for the alignment and *** this article,we proposed a ligand combination comprising T-shape promesogenic phosphonic acid,which on being photoaligned provides mutually parallel alignment of the quantum *** T-shape ligands enable the fabrication of hybrid films with a QRs concentration as high as 10 wt.%–20 wt.%retaining high brightness and luminescence polarization ***,we used these films in the in-plane switching(IPS)display backlight that shows the color gamut up to 121%of national television system committee(NTSC)(CIE1931),liquid-crystal display(LCD)efficiency up to 7.9%,power efficacy 103±2 nits/W,and the high brightness of~550±10 ***,the proposed ligands can be used for the alignment of a variety of nanorods.

Turbulent Gravity Current of Lock Release Type: A Numerical Study

The time evolution of a turbulent gravity current of lock release type, formed by a finite volume of homogenous fluid released instantaneously into another fluid of slightly lower density, is studied numerically via the renormalization group (RNG) k - model for Reynolds-stress closure to characterize the flow with transitional and highly localized turbulence. Consistent with previous experimental observations the numerical results show that the gravity current passes through two distinct phases, an initial slumping phase in which the current head advances steadily, and a second self-similar phase in which the front velocity decreases like the negative third power of the time after release. An overall entrainment ratio proportional to the distance from the release point is found and compares well with available experimental data for the slumping phase.

Encoded cell grating array in anti-counterfeit technology

The dot matrix hologram (DMH) has been widely used in anti-counterfeiting label. With the same technology and cell array configuration, we can encode to the incidence beam. These codes can be some image matrix grating with different grating gap and different grating orientation. When the multi-level phase diffractive grating is etched, the incidence beam on the cell appears as an encoding image. When the encoded grating and DMH are used in the same label synchronously, the technology of multi-encoded grating array enhances the anti-counterfeit ability.
