Objective:Parents may use various information sources to obtain information about sport-related concussions(SRC).This study examined SRCrelated information sources used by parents of United States middle school children(age:10-15 years).Methods:A panel of 1083 randomly selected ***,aged≥18 years and identifying as parents of middle school children,completed an online questionnaire capturing parental and child characteristics,and utilization and perceived trustworthiness of various sources of SRC-related *** logistic regression models identified factors associated with utilizing each *** odds ratios(OR)with 95%confidence intervals(95%CIs)excluding 1.00 were deemed ***:Doctors/healthcare providers(49.9%)and other healthcare-related resources(e.g.,Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,WebMD)(37.8%)were common SRC-related information sources;64.0%of parents utilized≥1 of these *** sources were considered“very”or“extremely”trustworthy for SRC-related information among parents using these sources(doctors/healthcare providers:89.8%;other healthcare-related resources:70.9%).A 10-year increase in parental age was associated with higher odds of utilizing doctors/healthcare providers(adjusted odd ratio(OR_(adjusted))=1.09,95%CI:1.02-1.16)and other healthcare-related resources(OR_(adjusted)=1.11,95%CI:1.03-1.19).The odds of utilizing doctors/healthcare providers(OR_(adjusted)=0.58,95%CI:0.40-0.84)and other healthcare-related resources(OR_(adjusted)=0.64,95%CI:0.44-0.93)were lower among parents whose middle school children had concussion histories versus the parents of children who did not have concussion ***:One-third of parents did not report using doctors/healthcare providers or other healthcare-related resources for SRC-related *** associated with underutilization of these sources may be targets for future *** education for healthcare providers and e

For any given positive integer m, let X_i, 1 ≤ i ≤ m be m independent random variables with distributions F_i, 1 ≤ i ≤ m. When all the summands are nonnegative and at least one of them is heavy-tailed, we prove that the lower limit of the ratio ■equals 1 as x →∞. When the summands are real-valued, we also obtain some asymptotic results for the tail probability of the sums. Besides, a local version as well as a density version of the above results is also presented.

Introduction For the second consecutive year,education deans and other institutional leaders from around the globe gathered on the campus of East China Normal university(ECNU)for the Global Education Deans Forum(GEDF),October 24–25,*** came from 10 countries/regions across 5 continents for 2 days of conversations,which included Australia(2),Canada(2),Chinese mainland(8),Hong Kong SAR(2),Ireland(1),Korea(1),Singapore(1),South Africa(1),Spain(2),the United Kingdom(3),and the United States(11).Based on suggestions from 2018 GEDF participants,the focus for conversations was:Increasing the influence of university research on educational policy and *** year’s participants also requested that deans have time to describe promising innovations from their institutions.

Immunometabolism,which is the metabolic reprogramming of anaerobic glycolysis,oxidative phosphorylation,and metabolite synthesis upon immune cell activation,has gained importance as a regulator of the homeostasis,activation,proliferation,and differentiation of innate and adaptive immune cell subsets that function as key factors in *** changes in epithelial and other stromal cells in response to different stimulatory signals are also crucial in infection,inflammation,cancer,autoimmune diseases,and metabolic *** crosstalk between the PI3K-AKT-mTOR and LKB1-AMPK signaling pathways is critical for modulating both immune and nonimmune cell *** bidirectional interaction between immune cells and metabolism is a topic of intense ***-like receptors(TLRs),cytokine receptors,and T and B cell receptors have been shown to activate multiple downstream metabolic ***,how intracellular innate immune sensors/receptors intersect with metabolic pathways is less well *** goal of this review is to examine the link between immunometabolism and the functions of several intracellular innate immune sensors or receptors,such as nucleotide-binding and leucine-rich repeat-containing receptors(NLRs,or NOD-like receptors),absent in melanoma 2(AIM2)-like receptors(ALRs),and the cyclic dinucleotide receptor stimulator of interferon genes(STING).We will focus on recent advances and describe the impact of these intracellular innate immune receptors on multiple metabolic *** appropriate,this review will provide a brief contextual connection to pathogenic infections,autoimmune diseases,cancers,metabolic disorders,and/or inflammatory bowel diseases.

Fabrication and Tissue Anchoring Performance of Nylon and Polypropylene Barbed Surgical Sutures

Barbed surgical sutures have attracted worldwide attention in recent years. The plurality of barbs projecting out and penetrating into surrounding tissue eliminates the need for tying a knot. In the current study,nylon and polypropylene( PP) barbed sutures with two different barb geometries designed to anchor in porcine skin and tendon tissues were fabricated by a specially designed mechanical cutting machine. The tensile properties were compared between the barbed and unbarbed control sutures. The in vitro tissue anchoring ability was measured by two tissue /suture pullout tests,one for skin and the other for tendon tissue. Regardless of the type of tissue,the PP barbed suture with its higher modulus had a superior anchoring ability. Given the same suture material,improved anchoring performance was shown in tendon tissue.

Stimuli-triggered drug delivery systems hold vast promise in local infection treatment for the site-specific targeting and shuttling of ***,chitosan conjugates(SPCS)installed with sialic acid(SA)and phenylboronic acid(PBA)were synthesized,of which SA served as targeting ligand for coccidium and reversible-binding bridge for *** enhanced drug-loading capacity of SPCS micelles was attributed to a combination assembly from hydrophobicity-driving and reversible borate *** drug-loaded SPCS micelles shared superior biostability in upper gastrointestinal *** reaching the lesions,the borate bridges were snipped by carbohydrates under a higher pH followed by accelerated drug release,while SA exposure on micellar surface facilitated drug cellular internalization to eliminate parasites *** drugmicelles revealed an enhanced anti-coccidial capacity with a higher index of 185.72 compared with commercial *** dual-responsive combination of physicochemical assembly could provide an efficient strategy for the exploitation of stable,safe and flexible anti-infectious drug delivery systems.
