On Savory's Principles of Translation

One of Savory's principles of translation focuses on whether a translator may or may never add to or omit from the original. According to the reader-analysis theory, this paper argues from both theoretical and practical aspects, that to fulfill the function of the translation adequately in the target language, the translator may have his right to add to or omit from the original.

With the ever increasing popularity of international standardized English proficiency tests,the test takers' craze for them has nev er been ***,the issue of the inequity which comes from the legitimate knowledge which decides a test-taker's score hasn't been fully *** theoretical study of this issue in this paper helps explore the legitimate knowledge tested in international English proficiency *** examining the legitimate knowledge in the sample tests of IELTS and TOEFL,the study reveals the underlying bias which constitutes a decent score for the test *** the end,the study proposes a more balanced assessment model for discussion.

The human body, such as hair, serves as a prism through which historical and cultural contexts are effectively refracted. Despite its historical and cultural significance, the role of hair, however, remains curiously a marginalized subject among the renewed interests on the body in the academic fields. In this paper, the author attempts to politicize the queue from 3 perspectives： maintaining a certain prescribed hairstyle is a top-down gesture to construct national conformity; the boundary between Manchu and Han is invoked and reinvented through the battles surrounding the queue politic in late Qing and early Republic; the widespread debate between keeping the queue and cutting the queue at the turn of the 20th century epitomizes the haunting rhetoric of traditionalism and modernism pursuit of modernity in China.

Stock Market Prediction Using Heat of Related Keywords on Micro Blog

Whether the stock market investors’ emotion can influence the stock market itself is one of the hot topic in financial research. In this paper, a method based on the heat of related keywords on Micro Blog is proposed, as Micro Blog is an ideal source for capturing public opinions towards certain topic. We choose Shanghai Composite index as the research object, through correlation analysis, Granger causality analysis, and support vector machine classification, the results have shown that the keywords heat on micro blog can make a short-time prediction of stock market, and the keyword which expresses negative emotion have more powerful prediction ability.

Regarding the limitations of traditional web real-time communication solutions such as polling, long-polling, flash plug-in, propose that using new coming Web Socket technology in the web real-time communication field, introduce the features of Web Socket technology, analysis the difference between Web Socket protocol and HTTP protocol, offer an approach to implement the Web Socket both in client and server side, prove Web Socket can decrease network traffic and latency greatly by an experiment, made the prospect of future application of Web Socket in web real-time communication.

A survey of executive compensation contracts in China's listed companies

We analyze 228 executive compensation contracts voluntarily disclosed by Chinese listed firms and find that central-government-controlled companies disclose more information in executive compensation contracts than localgovernment-controlled and non-government-controlled companies. Cashbased payments are the main form of executive compensation, whereas equity-based payments are seldom used by Chinese listed companies. On average, there are no significant differences in the value of basic salaries and performance-based compensation in executive compensation ***, compared with their counterparts in non-government-controlled companies, executives in government-controlled companies are given more incentive compensation. Accounting earnings are typically used in executive compensation contracts, with few firms using stock returns to evaluate their executives. However, the use of non-financial measures has increased significantly since 2007.

Integration of data from heterogeneous data sources is one of several technical challenges during the tunnel construciton. BIM and relational database have maken their efforts for tunnel data organization, but they are not qualified for tunnel problem reasoning. This paper proposes a tunnel data organization method driven by Ontology, which is suitable for data reorganization as well as reasoning. In this mechanism, a tunnel domian ontology center is built by experts for accepting information from BIM and database. Combined with expert knowledge, the ontology is used for problem sloving and analysis. The ontology-driven system has been successfully applied in Shanghai HongMei South Tunnel Project, which improved the tunnel construction quality and helped avoid risks.
