Identifying multidisciplinary problems from scientific publications based on a text generation method

Purpose:A text generation based multidisciplinary problem identification method is proposed,which does not rely on a large amount of data ***/methodology/approach:The proposed method first identifies the research objective types and disciplinary labels of papers using a text classification technique;second,it generates abstractive titles for each paper based on abstract and research objective types using a generative pre-trained language model;third,it extracts problem phrases from generated titles according to regular expression rules;fourth,it creates problem relation networks and identifies the same problems by exploiting a weighted community detection algorithm;finally,it identifies multidisciplinary problems based on the disciplinary labels of ***:Experiments in the“Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality”field show that the proposed method can effectively identify multidisciplinary research *** disciplinary distribution of the identified problems is consistent with our understanding of multidisciplinary collaboration in the *** limitations:It is necessary to use the proposed method in other multidisciplinary fields to validate its *** implications:Multidisciplinary problem identification helps to gather multidisciplinary forces to solve complex real-world problems for the governments,fund valuable multidisciplinary problems for research management authorities,and borrow ideas from other disciplines for ***/value:This approach proposes a novel multidisciplinary problem identification method based on text generation,which identifies multidisciplinary problems based on generative abstractive titles of papers without data annotation required by standard sequence labeling techniques.

The effect of the concentration of plastic waste on the formation of reaction products of the Ti–PET system

The paper presents research results of the synthesis, phase composition, and structure of products obtained by highly exothermic reactions between Ti and C10H8O4mixture components, depending on the plastic waste concentration and Ti powder dispersiveness, density of initial samples, and synthesis medium. The dependence of the phase composition and structure of the synthesis products on the concentration of the polymer（plastic）component in the initial Ti-PET(C10H8O4) system was found. When the plastic waste content is 20 wt% to 25 wt%, synthesis products contain TiC0.5O0.5–TiC0.6–0.75particle agglomerates. Further growth in the polyethylene terephthalate content from 30 wt% to 45 wt% leads to the formation of synthesis products consisting of titanium carbide(TiC0.6–1.0). The gaseous byproduct composition of the exothermic reaction is investigated for the Ti–-C10H8O4mixture composition. It is found that the gaseous by-product mostly contains hydrogen and carbon monoxide as well as impurities of different hydrocarbons（methane, acetylene, ethane, ethene） and carbon dioxide. The maximum adiabatic temperature of the gas combustion temperature is 2080℃, which demonstrates the possibility of using gas as a fuel for energy generation devices. Based on the data obtained, it is possible to create a basis for a new plastic waste technology to fabricate carbide-containing materials.

Heterogeneous integration of 2D materials on Si charge-coupled devices as optical memory

Optical memory integrates the function of optical sensing in memory devices, remarkably promoting the interconnection between sensory and memory terminals. Silicon charge-coupled photodetectors and floating gate memory have been widely used in imaging and storage technologies, respectively. However,the heterogeneous integration of the two devices requires technological innovation and complex electrical connections. In this work, we adopt a three-dimensional layer stacking method to design a novel optical memory device. On the top of Si charge-coupled photodetectors, we successively deposit two-dimensional graphene,hexagonal boron nitride, and molybdenum disulfide as a floating gate layer, a tunneling layer, and a readout layer, respectively. By applying a gate bias on lightly doped Si, a deep depletion layer is formed with a high voltage potential drop. Under dark conditions, the depletion layer cannot be filled, and the electric field across the h-BN tunnel barrier is relatively small. Under light irradiation, the deep depletion layer is gradually filled, and the h-BN tunneling layer withstands the increasing electric field, resulting in charge storage in the floating gate layer. Based on this mechanism, the device exhibits a gate voltage-dependent operation mode, including an integrated optical sensing-memory mode and an electrically driven storage mode. Under moderate gate voltage, the device can effectively detect the optical information with varied intensity and store the optical information in the floating gate, displaying optically controlled memory characteristics. Our work demonstrates a compact device structure for optical memory and displays excellent optically controlled memory performance, which can be applied in artificial vision systems.

Inertial mixing of acoustically levitated droplets for time-lapse protein crystallography

Varying the chemical consistency of acoustically levitated droplets opens up an in situ study of chemical and biochemical reactions in small ***,the opti-mization of the mixing time and the minimization of the positional instability induced by solution dispensing are necessary for practical applications such as the study of the transient state of macromolecules crystallography during the ligand binding *** this purpose,we study the inertial mixing in a configuration compatible with the room-temperature crystallography using the acoustic levitation diffractometer,therein solution drops ejected at high velocity collide and coalesce with droplets dis-pensed on acoustically levitated and rotating polymer thin-film sample *** the proposed method,we are able to achieve the mixing time of∼0.1 s for sub-micro and a few microliter *** observed short mixing time is ascribed to the rapid penetration of the solution into the droplets and confirmed by a computational fluid dynamic *** demonstrated accelerated solution mixing is tested in a pilot time-lapse protein crystallography experiment using the acoustic levitation *** results indicate the detection of transient ligand binding state within 2 s after the solution dispensing,suggesting the feasibility of the proposed method for studying slow biochemical processes.

Phytosomes(phytophospholipid complex) are dosage forms that have recently been introduced to increase the stability and therapeutic effect of herbal medicine. Currently, bioactive herbs and the phytochemicals they contain are considered to be the best remedies for chronic diseases. One promising approach to increase the efficacy of plant-based therapies is to improve the stability and bioavailability of their bio-active ingredients. Phytosomes employ phospholipids as their active ingredients, and use their amphiphilic properties to solubilize and protect herbal extracts. The unique properties of phospholipids in drug delivery and their use in herbal medicines to improve bioavailability results in significantly enhanced health benefits. The introduction of phytosome nanotechnology can alter and revolutionize the current state of drug delivery. The goal of this review is to explain the application of phytosomes, their future prospects in drug delivery, and their advantages over conventional formulations.

Linear OPF-based Robust Dynamic Operating Envelopes with Uncertainties in Unbalanced Distribution Networks

Dynamic operating envelopes(DOEs),as key enablers to facilitate distributed energy resource(DER)integration,have attracted increasing attention in the past ***,uncertainties,which may come from load forecasting errors or inaccurate network parameters,have been rarely discussed in DOE calculation,leading to compromised quality of the hosting capacity allocation *** letter studies how to calculate DOEs that are immune to such uncertainties based on a linearised unbalanced three-phase optimal power flow(UTOPF)*** uncertain parameters constrained by norm balls,formulations for calculating robust DOEs(RDOEs)are presented along with discussions on their *** cases,including a 2-bus illustrative network and a representative Australian network,are tested to demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed approach.

Assessing gully erosion and rehabilitation using multi temporal LiDAR DEMs:Case study from the Great Barrier Reef catchments,Australia

Millions of dollars are being spent on gully rehabilitation to help reduce excess fine sediment delivery to the Great Barrier Reef(GBR).There is an urgent need for(i)prioritisation of active gullies for rehabilitation and(ii)the development of methodologies to inform the effectiveness of *** this study we analyse DEMs of Difference derived from 0.5 m resolution 2-3 year interval multi-temporal LiDAR data collected pre and post rehabilitation at three variable gully morphologies in the Burdekin *** analysis indicates that the highest annual average fine sediment erosion rates for the untreated control gullies occur at the linear gully(53.38 t ha^(-1)y^(-1))followed by linear-alluvial gully(34.24 t ha^(-1)y^(-1))and least at the alluvial gully(14.41 t ha^(-1)y^(-1)).The proportional loss or export of fine sediment from the gullies in their un-treated condition ranges from∼68 to 90%of what is eroded,and when the gullies are treated the proportion of fine sediment that is retained in the gully proportional to what is eroded increases to∼60%at all *** pre-treatment baseline erosion rates,and additional post treatment LiDAR captures,it is difficult to quantify the treatment *** results offer insights in the erosion mechanisms within different geomorphic gully morphologies and rehabilitation effects in these erosional *** study provides crucial knowledge of gully dynamics that can be coupled with other lines of evidence for better prioritisation of rehabilitation in the GBR catchments.

Design and identification of a double-acting piezoelectric-hydraulic hybrid actuator

Traditional single-acting piezoelectric-hydraulic hybrid actuators usually have the problem of inertial force caused by flow pulsation of the liquid,which degrades their output *** suppress or solve the associated inertial force and enhance its output capabilities,this paper proposes a new type of double-acting piezoelectric-hydraulic hybrid actuator with four check valves acting as mechanical *** new hybrid actuator was fabricated and its output performance was *** the voltage is 700 Vp-pand the bias pressure is 2 MPa,the pulsation ratesδof the new actuator at 400 Hz,500 Hz and 600 Hz are 2.29,2.08 and 1.78,respectively,whileδof the single-acting hybrid actuator under the same conditions are 10.98,11.05 and ***,the liquid pulsation rate of the new hybrid actuator is significantly reduced,which is beneficial for improving the flow uniformity and weakening the influence of inertial force on the hybrid *** strategy ultimately leads to a maximum no-load velocity of 168.1 mm/s at 600 Hz and a maximum blocking force of 141 N at 450 Hz for the new hybrid *** addition,this strategy has the potential to be used in other electrohydrostatic actuators to improve their performance.

Novel synthesis of stabilized Bi1-x-yGdxDyyO1.5 solid electrolytes with enhanced conductivity for intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cells（SOFCs）

Herein,we report the synthesis of a Dy-Gd co-doped cubic phase-stabilized Bi2O3solid electrolyte system via solid-state processing under atmospheric *** with Dy3+and Gd3+has been observed to significantly enhance the densification process during sintering for stabilization purposes,thereby improving the electrical properties of δ-Bi2O3-type *** synthesized ceramics were characterized using X-ray diffraction（XRD）,field emission scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy（FESEM-EDX）,thermal gravimetry/differential thermal analysis（TG/DTA）,and the four-point probe technique（4PPT）.XRD analysis reveals that the samples Bi1-x-yGdxDyyO1.5（y=0.05/x=0.05,0.10,0,15,and 0.20,and x=0.05/y=0.10,0.15,and 0.20） exhibit a stable face-centered cubic δ-phase and a mixed-phase crystallographic *** XRD analysis of the stabilized δ-phase suggests that the prepared oxides show a face-centered cubic（FCC） structure with a space group of *** micrographs reveal that the composition Bi0.90Gd0.05Dy0.05O1.5has no significant ***,an evident increase in the pore formation is observed as the amount of Gd2O3increases until it reaches 20%.This finding suggests that dense pellets are formed during the sintering process at 900-1000℃.The DTA analyses were performed to verify the phase stability,which agrees with the XRD *** electrochemical performance of the synthesized Dy-Gd co-doped Bi2O3solid electrolyte system was evaluated and analyzed in detail by using the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy（EIS） technique,Based on EIS and conductivity measurements,Bi0.75Gd0.20Dy0.05O1.5exhibits the lowest activation energy of 0.519 eV and the highest conductivity value of 0.398 S/cm at 627℃compared to the other samples;this composition can be used as a solid electrolyte for intermediatetemperature solid oxide fuel cells（SOFCs）.
