Among the adult population in st. vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), there is a marked prevalence of diabetes and hypertension;diseases that pose significant public health, and socio-economic challenges, This awareness raised concerns about the prevalence of the diseases among the youth population, and motivated the SVG Retired Nurses Association (SVGRNA) to collaborate with the Must.que Charitable Trust.(MCT) to conduct the “Be healthy: Know Your Numbers” research project among college-age st.dents. The tri-fold purpose of the project was to determine the prevalence of high blood pressure and blood sugar levels among the college-aged population in Savageries, the awareness of the youths about the causal factors of the diseases, and encourage healthy lifest.le among the demographic. For this mixed-method research project, both quantitative and qualitative data were gathered from a sample of 851 st.dents;306 were males and 545 were females. The results revealed that a significantly high number of st.dents were diabetic and hypertensive, or were at high risk of getting the diseases on account of their poor dietary and lifest.le practices. The highest.readings for both diseases were seen among the males. At the onset of the research, the st.dents were largely apathetic toward the diseases. However, there was noticeable attitudinal change, and demonst.able willingness to make the needed lifest.le changes. The st.dy concluded that mitigating the risks of hypertension and diabetes within the youth community in st. vincent and the Grenadines will be achieved through education about the causal factors and implications of the diseases, as well as through targeted interventions delivered by a wide cross-section of st.keholders.

Growth, Development and Yield of Kenaf as Affected by Planting Dates and N Fertilization

Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus L) consist. of various beneficial components like st.lks, seeds, leaves, fibers, oils, proteins, allelopathic chemicals, and fiber st.ands, among other things. Despite the numerous uses of the crop, there is little or no information on optimum agronomic practices such as planting date and N fertilization of the crop in the Upper East.Region (UER) of Ghana where the crop is widely cultivated by smallholder farmers. Field experiments were therefore carried out in 2020 and repeated during the 2021 cropping season in the st.dy area. The objective of the st.dy was to determine appropriate planting date and N fertilization for increased kenaf productivity. In each year, the treatments consist.d of 3 × 5 factorial combinations of three planting dates (1st./sup> July, 7th July and 14th July) and five levels of N (0, 20, 40, 60 and 80 kg/ha) replicated three times. The design of the experiment was a split-plot with the N fertilizer as the main plot and the planting date assigned to sub plot. The results showed that, planting kenaf in early (1st./sup>) July or N fertilization at the rate of 60 kg/ha increased plant density, st.m height, st.m diameter, dry bast.and core yields in both cropping seasons.

Cyclophosphamide-associated enteritis: A rare association with severe enteritis

Cyclophosphamide is a potent cytotoxic agent used in many clinical settings. The main risks of cyclophosphamide therapy include hematological disorders, infertility, hemorrhagic cyst.tis and malignancies. Gast.ointest.nal side effects reported to date are often non-specific and not severe. We present the first.case of a fatal small bowel enteritis and pan-colitis which appears to be associated with cyclophosphamide. We aim to raise the readers' awareness of this significant adverse event to facilitate clinical suspicion and early recognition in potential future cases.
