The purpose of this study was to investigate the inhibitory effect of gold nanorods-mediated photothermal therapy on liver metastasis of colorectal cancer under the guidance of vascular interventional radiology.A total of 80 patients admitted to our hospital from February 2018 to February 2020 were selected and randomly divided into study group and control group with 40 cases each,among which the control group received 125I seed implantation combined with *** this basis,the study group were added the gold nanorods(AuNRs)to the photothermal therapy *** clinical efficacy,postoperative complications and postoperative survival rates of the two groups were *** results showed that the total clinical effective rate was 82.5%in the study group,which was significantly better than 67.5%in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P0.05).Therefore,under the guidance of vascular interventional radiology,Au NRs are safe and effective materials for the treatment of liver metastasis of colorectal cancer,which can reduce complications and improve postoperative survival rates.

We aimed to explore the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral primitive neuroectodermal tumors(pPNETs). We retrospectively analyzed the diagnosis and treatment process of a patient who was diagnosed with pPNETs by pathology. This case was a man with soft masses arising from the left chest wall near the armpit and left supraclavicular of a 47-year-old man. The patient mainly presented with the masses which increasing gradually with obvious pain. Needle biopsy showed that they were both metastatic adenocarcinoma. Ultrasonography B revealed blood flow of these two low density placeholders can be seen in the signal, not oppression axillary and vein. Radical resection of the masses were performed. Histopathologic study and immunohistochemistry(IHC) confirmed the masses to be peripheral primitive neuroectodermal tumors. pPNETs is a rare malignant small round cell tumor. CT and MRI examination can estimate the resectability of the tumor; Ultrasound B can make sure its inside blood supply and the positional relationship between the mass and the surrounding vasculature. The diagnosis of pPNETs is based primarily on histopathologic study and IHC, especially those with the characteristics of the Homer-Wright and neuroendocrine markers. Radical resection of the tumor is the most effective therapeutic method. The effect of adjuvant chemo-radiation is worth affirmation. Autologous stem cell rescue besides adjuvant chemotherapy has been associated with prolonged survival.

Objectives. To estimate the antitumor activity of topotecan in patients with persistent or recurrent carcinosarcoma (malignant mixed mullerian tumors) of the uterus and to determine the nature and degree of toxicity of topotecan in this cohort of patients. Materials and methods. Eligible patients had measurable advanced or recurrent carcinosarcoma of the uterus. Topotecan at a target dose of 1.5 mg/m2 was administered IV daily for 5 days, every 3 weeks, until progression of disease or adverse affects prohibited further therapy. Results. Twenty-seven member institutions entered 51 patients. Of the patients entered, 48 were eligible. Patient characteristics included a median age of 65, with 33% having prior radiation and 92% having prior chemotherapy. Twenty-six patients (54% ) had a performance status (PS) of 0, 18 (38% ) had a PS of 1, and four (8% ) had a PS of 2. Patients received from 1 to 21 (with a median of 2) courses of treatment. The most frequently observed grade 4 toxicities were neutropenia seen in 35 (73% ) patients, leukopenia in 14 (29% ), and thrombocytopenia in 10 (21% ). Three (6% )- patients developed neutropenic sepsis and died shortly after their first treatment cycle. There were five (10% ) complete responses; 13 (27% ) patients maintained stable disease, 26 (54% ) experienced increasing disease, and reassessment did not occur in four (8% ). Conclusion. Topotecan at this dose and schedule does not appear to have major activity in patients with advanced or recurrent uterine carcinosarcoma previously treated with chemotherapy.

Autophagy, or programmed cell death type II, is one of the responses of cancer cells to various therapies, including ionizing ***, we have shown that radiation induces autophagy, but not apoptosis, in various malignant glioma cell *** is mainly regulated by the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) *** Akt/mTOR pathway also mediates oncogenesis and ***, we hypothesized that inhibiting this pathway has both an anticancer and radiosensitizing effect by activating *** purpose of our study was therefore to determine whether and by which mechanisms an Akt inhibitor, 1L-6-hydroxymethyl-chiro-inositol 2 (R)-2-O-methyl-3-O-octadecylcarbonate, had anticancer and radiosensitizing effects on malignant glioma U87-MG and radioresistant U87-MG cells with a consistitutively active form of epidermal growth factor receptor (U87-MGDeltaEGFR).Treatment with the Akt inhibitor successfully inhibited Akt activity and reduced cell viability in both cell *** terms of the mechanism, the Akt inhibitor decreased phosphorylated p70S6 kinase, a downstream target of Akt, and induced autophagy, but not ***, the Akt inhibitor radiosensitized both U87-MG and U87-MGDeltaEGFR cells by enhancing *** inhibition of Akt using the dominant-negative Akt plasmid also resulted in enhanced radiationinduced *** conclusion, an Akt inhibitor showed anticancer and radiosensitizing effect on U87-MG and U87-MGDeltaEGFR cells by inducing ***, Akt inhibitors may represent a promising new therapy as a single treatment or used in combination with radiation for malignant gliomas, including radioresistant ones that express DeltaEGFR.

Background: We retrospectively investigated long-term toxicity after concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CRT) for patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Methods. Concurrent chemoradiotherapy was performed in 110 patients with T1 to T4 disease containing M1 lymph node (LYM) disease. Chemotherapy consisted of protracted infusion of 5-fluorouracil 400 mg/m2 per 24h on days 1 to 5 and 8 to 12, combined with 2-h infusion of cisplatin 40 mg/m2 on days 1 and 8. radiation treatment of the mediastinum at a dose of 30Gy in 15 fractions was administered concomitantly with chemotherapy. A course schedule with a 3-week treatment and a 2-week break was applied twice, with a total radiation dose of 60Gy. For the assessment of toxicity, the radiation Therapy oncology Group/European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer late radiation morbidity scoring schema was adopted. Results. A total of 81 patients were recruited in patients with stage I to IVA. Of 34 patients with complete response, 1 patient died as a result of acute myocardial infarction. Grade 2, 3, and 4 late toxicities occurred with the following incidences: pericarditis in 3 patients, 1 patient, and 2 patients, respectively; heart failure in 0, 0, and 3 patients; pleural effusion in 2, 3, and 0 patients; and radiation pneumonitis in 0, 0, and 1 patient, respectively. Conclusions. Definitive chemoradiotherapy for ESCC is effective with substantial toxicities. Further investigation is warranted to minimize the normal tissue toxicities.

Background. There are a few cases of “ small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma” of the Bartholin’ s gland as well as Merkel cell carcinoma of the vulva reported in the gynecologic oncology literature, most with aggressive clinical behavior. Merkel cells were originally described in the epidermis with neuroendocrine properties. Merkel cell carcinoma is different from the neuroendocrine small cell (oat cell) tumor arising in the lung and other internal organs based on morphology and immunohistochemistry. Case. A 49- year- old female was diagnosed with a FIGO stage I Merkel cell carcinoma of the Bartholin’ s gland. The tumor originated from the duct and stained with endocrine markers and cytokeratin 7 and 20. She was treated with radical wide local excision and bilateral inguinal lymph node dissection followed by radiation therapy to the pelvis, perineum, vulva, and inguinal regions. Two years after the diagnosis, she is alive with no evidence of recurrent disease. Conclusion. This is a case of Merkel cell carcinoma of the Bartholin’ s gland discovered in the early stage with a survival of 2 years following diagnosis and treatment with no evidence of disease recurrence.
