Efficacy of substances containing 3 types of active ingredients-saponins, flavones, and alkaloids in regulation of cytokines in autoimmune diseases a systematic review and Meta-analysis based on animal studies

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the efficacy of substances containing 3 types of active ingredients-saponins,flavones, and alkaloids on experimental animals with autoimmune diseases(AIDs).METHODS: The protocol for this systematic review and Meta-analysis was prospectively registered with PROSPERO(CRD42023395741). Searches were conducted in the China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang, Chinese Science and Technology Journals, China Biomedical, Pub Med,Cochrane Library, and Embase databases to screen for animal studies investigating the therapeutic effects of saponins, flavones, or alkaloids on autoimmune diseases;consequently, corresponding data extraction tables were prepared. Systematic Review Centre for Laboratory Animal Experimentation was used to assess the risk of methodological bias in the included literature. RevMan 5.4 was used for the Meta-analysis on the 8 serum ***: A total of 31 studies were included, all of which were randomized controlled studies. Meta-analysis indicated that substances rich in saponins, flavones, and alkaloids reduced serum levels of interleukin(IL)-1β[standardized mean difference(SMD) =-1.94, 95%confidence interval(CI)(-2.99,-0.90), P = 0.0003], IL-6 [SMD =-1.65, 95% CI(-2.33,-0.97,) P < 0.000 01],IL-17 [SMD =-2.41, 95% CI(-3.61,-1.20), P <0.0001], tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-α [SMD =-1.84, 95%CI(-2.61,-1.06), P < 0.0001], and interferon(IFN)-γ[SMD =-1.54, 95% CI(-2.43,-0.65), P = 0.0007], but increased serum levels of IL-4 [SMD = 1.30, 95% CI(0.15,2.44), P = 0.03) and IL-10 [SMD = 2.05, 95% CI(1.39,2.70), P < 0.000 01) in animal models. However, no significant regulatory effect of these three active components was observed on serum levels of IL-2 [SMD =-0.63, 95% CI(-1.82, 0.57), P = 0.30].CONCLUTIONS: Substances containing saponins,flavones, and alkaloids regulated the changes of immunerelated cytokines, it may be a novel dietary substance to relieve and control autoimmune diseases in the future.

Influences of lauric acid addition on performance,nutrient digestibility and proteins related to mammary gland development in dairy cows

Lauric acid(LA)has the possibility to improve milk production in dairy cows by improving mammary gland development,however,the mechanism by which it might regulate mammary gland development is *** influence of LA on milk production,nutrient digestibility and the expression of proteins related to mammary gland development in dairy cows were *** primiparous Holstein dairy cows were divided into 4 groups in a randomized block *** treatments included the control(0 g/d LA per cow),low-LA(100 g/d LA per cow),medium-LA(200 g/d LA per cow),and high-LA(300 g/d LA per cow).Yields of milk,fat-corrected milk,and energy-corrected milk quadratically increased(P<0.05),and yield and content of milk fat linearly increased(P<0.05)with LA *** of C12:0,C18:1 and C20:1 fatty acids in milk fat linearly increased(P<0.05),but that of C16:0 fatty acid linearly decreased(P=0.046).Supplementation of LA led to a linear and quadratical increase(P<0.05)in digestibility of dry matter,organic matter,neutral detergent fibre and acid detergent fibre,and ruminal total volatile fatty acid concentration but a linear reduction(P=0.018)in the ratio of acetate to *** enzymatic activities of ruminal pectinase,xylanase,andα-amylase,and populations of total bacteria and anaerobic fungi increased linearly(P<0.05),while populations of total protozoa and methanogens decreased linearly(P<0.05)with increased LA *** LA addition,blood glucose,triglyceride,estradiol,prolactin,and insulin-like growth factor 1 concentrations increased linearly(P<0.05)and albumin and total protein concentrations increased quadratically(P<0.05).Moreover,addition of 200 g/d LA promoted(P<0.05)the expression of protein involved in mammary gland development and fatty acids *** results suggested that LA addition enhanced milk production and fatty acids synthesis by stimulating nutrient digestion,the expression of proteins associated with milk fat synth

BACKGROUND The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR)and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio(PLR)are novel inflammatory indicators that can be used to predict the severity and prognosis of various *** categorize acute pancreatitis by etiology into acute biliary pancreatitis(ABP)and hypertriglyceridemia-induced acute pancreatitis(HTGP).AIM To investigate the clinical significance of NLR and PLR in assessing persistent organ failure(POF)in HTGP and *** A total of 1450 patients diagnosed with acute pancreatitis(AP)for the first time at shanxi Bethune Hospital between January 2012 and January 2023 were *** patients were categorized into two groups according to the etiology of AP:ABP in 530 patients and HTGP in 241 *** collected and compared the clinical data of the patients,including NLR,PLR,and AP prognostic scoring systems,within 48 h of hospital *** The NLR(9.1 vs 6.9,P<0.001)and PLR(203.1 vs 160.5,P<0.001)were significantly higher in the ABP group than in the HTGP *** the HTGP group,both NLR and PLR were significantly increased in patients with severe AP and those with a SOFA score≥***,in the ABP group,NLR and PLR were significantly elevated in patients with severe AP,modified computed tomography severity index score≥4,Japanese Severity Score≥3,and modified Marshall score≥***,NLR and PLR showed predictive value for the development of POF in both the ABP and HTGP *** NLR and PLR vary between ABP and HTGP,are strongly associated with AP prognostic scoring systems,and have predictive potential for the occurrence of POF in both ABP and HTGP.

In this paper,an accelerated proximal gradient algorithm is proposed for Hankel tensor completion *** our method,the iterative completion tensors generated by the new algorithm keep Hankel structure based on projection on the Hankel tensor ***,due to the special properties of Hankel structure,using the fast singular value thresholding operator of the mode-s unfolding of a Hankel tensor can decrease the computational ***,the convergence of the new algorithm is discussed under some reasonable ***,the numerical experiments show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Holographic superfluid ring with a weak link

We explore the generation of topological defects in the course of a dynamical phase transition in a ring with a weak link, i.e., a SSS Josephson junction, from the AdS/CFT correspondence. By setting different parameters of the junction(width, steepness,depth) and the final temperature of the quench, the configurations of the charge density and condensate of the order parameters of the dual field theory are presented. Meanwhile, we observe that in the final equilibrium state, variations in parameters of the junctions only affect the configurations of the charge density and condensate of the order parameters, without altering their values outside the junction. However, variations in the final temperature will directly affect the values of the charge density and condensate of the order parameters outside of the junction. Moreover, in the final equilibrium state, we propose an analytic relation between the gauge-invariant velocity in the two superconducting states in the SSS Josephson junction, which agrees well with the numerical results.
