The overuse of antibiotics in animal agriculture and medicine has caused a series of potential threats to public health. Macleaya cordata is a medicinal plant species from the Papaveraceae family, providing a safe resource for the manufacture of antimicrobial feed additive for livestock. The active constituents from M. cordata are known to include benzylisoquinoline alkaloids （BIAs） such as sanguinarine （SAN） and chelerythrine （CHE）, but their metabolic pathways have yet to be studied in this non-model plant. The active biosynthesis of SAN and CHE in M. cordata was first examined and confirmed by feeding ^13C-labeled tyrosine. To gain further insights, we de novo sequenced the whole genome of M. cordata, the first to be sequenced from the Papaveraceae family. The M. cordata genome covering 378 Mb encodes 22,328 predicted protein-coding genes with 43.5% being transposable elements. As a member of basal eudicot, M. cordata genome lacks the paleohexaploidy event that occurred in almost all eudicots. From the genomics data, a complete set of 16 metabolic genes for SAN and CHE biosynthesis was retrieved, and 14 of their biochemical activities were validated. These genomics and metabolic data show the conserved BIA metabolic pathways in M. cordata and provide the knowledge foundation for future productions of SAN and CHE by crop improvement or microbial pathway reconstruction.

To editor:Cesarean scar pregnancy(CSP)is a rare pathology,with an increasingly clear association with morbidly adherent placenta(MAP).1 Although the most recommended treatment is pregnancy termination by cesarean section and scar resection shortly after diagnosis.2 The final decision regarding management depends on the patient's choice,medical advice,the fertility desire,and the social,religious and emotional background that should also be taken into account.

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is progressive fibrosing interstitial pneumonia of unknown cause, chronic and incurable interstitial lung disease, associated with high mortality rates and unresponsive to treatments currently available. The prevalence of IPF is estimated at approximately 20/100,000 in men and 13/100,000 in women, and the mean age at the time of diagnosis is 67 years and the median survival is 2 to 5 years. Therapies available to date, proved, therefore, only palliative measures with doubtful or unsatisfactory result. Many experimental models of pulmonary fibrosis are described. Bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis is a widely used experimental model to identify and validate new therapeutic targets. We have induced pulmonary fibrosis by intratracheal bleomycin and late instillation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) from adipose tissue as a therapeutic proposal was used. MSC have the capacity to modulate inflammatory and immune response. Furthermore, the long-term effect of MSCs could also regulate and control to collagen deposition of the myofibroblasts, a final and pivo cell of pulmonary fibrosis. MSC from adipose tissue is an effective therapy to decrease collagen synthesis and expression in late stage of bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis model, which may contribute to new therapeutic targets.

Objectives: Medical dictionaries and anthropologic sources de-fine brachycephaly as a cranial index (CI = width divided by length ×100%) greater than 81%.We examine the impact of supine sleeping on CI and compare orthotic treatment with *** design: We compared the effect of repositioning versus helmet therapy on CI in 193 infants referred for abnormal head ***: Eighty percent of the infants had a pretreatment CI >81%.Their initialmean CI atmean age 5.3 months was 89%, and after treatment, their mean CI was 87%(±2 SE = 0.9%) at mean age 9.0 *** 92 infants with an initial CI at or above 90%, their initial mean CI of 96.1%was reduced to a mean of 91.9%.Conclusions: Post-treatment CI was 86%to 88%, CI in neonates delivered by cesarean section was 80%, and CI in supine-sleeping Asian children was 85%to 91%, versus 78%to 83%for prone-sleeping American *** was less effective than cranial orthotic therapy in correcting severe *** recommend varying the head position when putting infants to sleep.
