A Multicenter,Randomized,Double-blind Clinical Study on Wufuxinnaoqing Soft Capsule(五福心脑清胶囊) in Treatment of Chronic Stable Angina Patients with Blood Stasis Syndrome

Objective： To confirm the efficacy and safety of Wufuxinnaoqing Soft Capsule （五福心脑清胶囊, WSC） in the treatment of chronic stable angina （blood stasis syndrome）. Methods： A multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial with superiority test was designed. A total of 240 patients with chronic stable angina （blood stasis syndrome） from multiple centers were randomly and equally assigned to the treatment group and the control group. Based on standard treatment of Western medicine, the treatment group was given WSC, while the control group was given WSC mimetic, both for 12 weeks. Observed indicators included the efficacy in angina, the efficacy in chinese medicine syndrome, the withdrawal or reduce rate of nitroglycerin and routine safety indices. Results： After 12-week treatment, the significant effective rate and total effective rate of the treatment group were significantly better than those of the control group （23.5% vs. 9.2%, 64.7% vs. 30.8%）, respectively, with statistically significant difference （P〈0.01）. After 12-week treatment, the decreased points and the decreased rate of angina symptom score in the treatment group were better than in the control group （5.1±4.2 points vs. 2.8± 3.5 points, 44.9% ±37.2% vs. 25.4%±30.7%） respectively, with significant difference （P〈0.01）. After 12-week treatment, the significant effective rate and total effective rate of the treatment group were better than the control group （respectively, 30.3% vs. 15.0%, 67.2% vs. 45.0%, P〈0.01）. After 8- or 12-week treatment, the decreased points and the decreased rate of chinese medicine syndrome score in the treatment group were better than the control group （P〈0.05 or P〈0.01）. Xuefu Zhuyu decoction improves neurological dysfunction by increasing synapsin expression after traumatic brain injury

Xuefu Zhuyu decoction has been used for treating traumatic brain injury and improving post-traumatic dysfunction, but its mechanism of action needs further investigation. This study established rat models of traumatic brain injury by controlled cortical impact. Rat models were intragastrically administered 9 and 18 g/kg Xuefu Zhuyu decoction once a day for 14 or 21 days. Changes in neurological function were assessed by modified neurological severity scores and the Morris water maze. Immunohistochemistry, western blot assay, and re- verse-transcription polymerase chain reaction were used to analyze synapsin protein and mRNA expression at the injury site of rats. Our results showed that Xuefu Zhuyu decoction visibly improved neurological function of rats with traumatic brain injury. These changes were accompanied by increased expression of synaptophysin, synapsin I, and postsynaptic density protein-95 protein and mRNA in a dose-de- pendent manner. These findings indicate that Xuefu Zhuyu decoction increases synapsin expression and improves neurological deficits alder traumatic brain injury.

Pharmacological intervention of traditional chinese medicine for the quality of life in patients with colorectal cancer： a systematic review and meta-analysis

Objective： The objective of this study is to evaluate the impact of various traditional chinese medicine （TCM）approaches on the quality of life in patients with colorectal cancer. Methods： In this study, we systematically performedthe screening of randomized controlled trials from Cochrane Library, Pubmed, Embase, Medline, and Web of *** data were extracted by two reviewers independently, and then risk assessment was performed. All the analyses wereconducted using Review Manager 5.3. Results： A total of 18 eligible studies containing 1312 patients were *** group were treated with TCM combined with Western medicine or TCM alone （N = 688） and controlgroup were treated with Western medicine treatment alone （N = 624）. The results showed that the recent clinicalefficiency between the two groups was not statistically significant （P = 0.06）. KPS scores of the experimental group werehigher than those in the control group [P 〈 0.001, WMD = 9.60, 95%CI = （5.62, 13.57）]. The toxicity comparisonshowed that the occurrence of toxicities, such as leucopenia, thrombocytopenia, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, andneurotoxicity in the experimental group was lower than that in the control group [P 〈 0.001, OR = 0.31, 95%CI = （0.19,0.50）], [P = 0.003, OR = 0.49, 95%CI = （0.31, 0.78）], [P 〈 0.001, OR = 0.30, 95%CI = （0.16, 0.54）], [P 〈 0.001, OR =0.40, 95%CI = （0.27, 0.58）], and [P 〈 0.001, OR = 0.43, 95%CI = （0.30, 0.61）]. The immunological test comparisondemonstrated that the immunological parameters （CD3, CD4, and CD4/CD8） showed higher values in the experimentalgroup than those in the control group [P 〈 0.001, MD = 5.55, 95%CI = （4.83, 6.28）], [P 〈 0.0001, MD = 6.75, 95%CI =（5.25, 8.26）], and [P = 0.001, MD = 0.26, 95%CI = （0.10, 0.41）]. Correlation between Characteristics of Coronary Plaque and chinese medicine Syndromes of Coronary Heart Disease:A Cross-Sectional Study Analysed by Intravascular Ultrasound

Objective:To analyse the correlation between the characteristics of coronary plaque in coronary heart disease(CHD)patients with phlegm-blood stasis syndrome(PBS)and blood stasis syndrome(BSS).Methods:Patients were divided into different groups based on chinese medicine(CM)syndrome *** baseline demographics and clinical variables were collected from the medical ***,the characteristics of plaque and pathological manifestations in coronary artery were evaluated intravascular ultrasound(IVUS).Results:A total of 213 CHD patients were enrolled in two groups:184 were diagnosed with PBS and the remaining 29 were diagnosed with *** were no significant differences in age,body mases index,proportions of patients with high blood pressure,diabetes mellitus,smoking,hyperlipidemia,history of coronary artery bypass graft and percutaneous coronary intervention,medications,index from cardiac ultrasound image,blood lipids and C-reactive protein between the two groups(P>0.05),except gender,weight and proportions of OVUS observed target vessels(P<0.05 or P<0.01).More adverse events such as acute myocardial infarction(P=0.003)and unstable angina(P=0.048)were observed in ***,dissection,thrombus and coronary artery ectasia were significantly increased in BSS(P<0.05 or P<0.01).In contrast,PBS had more patients with stable angina and chronic total occlusion with significantly higher SYNTAX(synergy between percutaneous coronary intervention with Taxus and coronary artery bypass surgery)scores(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Moreover,dense-calcium was significantly elevated in PBS(P<0.01).Conclusions:Coronary plaque characteristics were correlated with different CM *** with PBS were associated with a higher degree of calcified plaque and severe coronary artery stenosis,indicating poor clinical prognosis but with a low probability of acute coronary *** contrast,the degree of calcified plaque in patients with BSS remained relatively low,
