Functional Cure of Chronic Hepatitis B with Antiviral Treatment in Children having High-level Viremia and Normal or Mildly Elevated Serum Aminotransferase

Background and Aims:There is a lack of data supporting the notion that antiviral treatments can beneft children with chronic hepatitis B(CHB)having high viremia and normal or mildly elevated serum alanine aminotransferase(ALT)*** aimed t analyze the efficacy of antiviral treatments in children with CHB and explore the factors associated with functional ***:Forty-eight children with CHB having high viremia and normal or mildly elevated serum ALT levels were screened in this real-world ***-two children received either interferon-alpha(IFN-α)monother-apy,IFN-a therapy with a nucleoside analog(NA)add-on,or IFN-α and NA combination *** 16 children in the control group did not receive antiviral *** 48 chil-dren were available for follow-up assessments for the entire 36-month study *** identified a functional cure with respect to hepatitis B virus(HBV)DNA loss,loss/seroconver-sion of circulating hepatitis B e antigen(HBeAg),and loss of hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg)with or without *** regression analysis was employed to evaluate the factors that may have influenced the functional ***-sults:After 36 months,the cumulative functional cure rate was 56.25%(18/32)in the treated group and 0%(0/16)in the control group(p<0.001).In the treated group,the serum HBV DNA levels declined rapidly at the end of a 6-month visit and the cured children achieved a loss rate of 100%(18/18)within 16 months of beginning treatment,compared with 64.29%(9/14)of the uncured children(p<0.001).The rates of HBeAg seroconversion were significantly higher among the cured children than among the uncured children(p<0.001).All 16 children in the control group maintained high levels of serum HBV DNA and were positive for both serum HBeAg and HBsAg during the entire 36 months of the study *** tional cure was associated with younger ages(1-6 vs.7-14 years,p=0.013),CD8^(+)T lymphocyte counts(p=0.013),and B lymphocyte counts(p=0.003).

Forest land use change at Trans-Boundary Laos-China Biodiversity Conservation Area

This paper analyzed forest land use change in Trans-Boundary Laos-China Biodiversity Conservation Area which is called Namha National Biodiversity Conservation Areas （Namha NBCAs）, with 1992 and 2002 TM （ETM）. Based on GIS and statistical methods, the intensity, state index of land use change and transfer matrix were used to study spatio-temporal land use change in the region. The results showed that the area of forest land decreased greatly, also the area of bamboo and grassland decreased. The other way round, the area of unstocked forest, slash and burn and rice paddy land increased. As a whole, the intensity of forest land change was higher, but others were lower. From the transfer matrix, most of the forest land changed into unstocked forest and urban area, some to slash and burn The grassland and bamboo were mainly transferred to forest and unstocked forest. The unstocked forest land mostly came from forest land and grassland. It was showed there were three main causes of the land use change namely： opium poppy cultivation, rubber plantation and also ecotourism activities and finally some policies were developed in order to address the land use change in the study areas.

Validation of Non-invasive Fibrosis Scores for Predicting Advanced Fibrosis in Metabolic-associated Fatty Liver Disease

Background and Aims:Metabolic-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD)is a newly proposed terminology from 2020;yet,the applicability of conventional noninvasive fi-brosis models is still unknown for *** aimed to evaluate the performance of conventional noninvasive fibrosis scores in ***:The NHANES 2017-2018 datasets were used to compare the performances of different non-invasive fibrosis scores in MAFLD,including the aspartate aminotransferase(AST)to platelet ratio index(APRI),body mass index(BMI)-AST/alanine aminotransferase(ALT)ratio and diabetes score(BARD),fibrosis-4 index(FIB-4),and NAFLD fibrosis score(NFS).Moreover,Asian patients with biopsy-proven MAFLD were enrolled to further validate the ***:A total of 2,622 participants in the Na-tional Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(NHANES)cohort and 293 patients with MAFLD in the Asian cohort were *** in the Asian cohort had a lower BMI and higher liver enzymes(p<0.001).The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUROC)of NFS was the largest in the NHANES cohort and Asian cohorts(0.679 and 0.699,respectively).The AUROC of NFS was followed by APRI,FIB-4,and BARD in the NHANES cohort(0.616,0.601,and 0.589,respectively).In the Asian cohort,the AUROC of APRI,FIB-4,and BARD for predicting advanced fibrosis were 0.625,0.683,and 0.615,*** performance of FIB-4 was better in the Asian cohort than that in the NHANES ***:NFS is better for predicting advanced fibrosis in ***-4 can be an al-ternative choice for MAFLD with high liver enzymes when NFS is *** efficient noninvasive fibrosis scor-ing systems are highly required for patients with MAFLD.
