Clean air actions （CAAs） in China have been linked to considerable benefits in public ***,whether the beneficial effects of CAAs are equally distributed geographically is *** high-resolution maps of the distributions of major air pollutants (fine particulate matter[PM2.5]and ozone[O3]) and population,we aimed to track spatiotemporal changes in health impacts from,and geographic inequality embedded in,the reduced exposures to PM2.5and O3from 2013 to *** used a method established by the Global Burden of Diseases *** analyzing the changes in loss of life expectancy（LLE） attributable to PM2.5and O3,we calculated the gain of life expectancy （GLE） to quantify the health benefits of the air-quality ***,we assessed the geographic inequality embedded in the GLE using the Gini index （GI）.Based on risk assessments of PM2.5and O3,during the first stage of CAAs（2013 to 2017）,the mean GLE was 1.87 *** of the sum of the GLE was disproportionally distributed in about one quarter of the population exposed （GI 0.44）.During the second stage of CAAs（2017 to 2020）,the mean GLE increased to 3.94 months and geographic inequality decreased （GI 0.18）.According to our assessments,CAAs were enhanced,from the first to second stages,in terms of not only preventing premature mortality but also ameliorating health *** enhancements were related to increased sensitivity to the health effects of air pollution and synergic control of PM2.5and *** findings will contribute to optimizing future CAAs.

As an environmental pollutant,ambient fine particulate matter (PM_(2.5)) was linked to cardiovascular *** molecular mechanisms underlying PM_(2.5)-induced extrapulmonary disease has not been elucidated *** this study the ambient PM_(2.5)exposure mice model we established was to explore adverse effects of vessel and potential ***-term PM_(2.5)exposure caused reduced lung function and vascular stiffness in *** chronic PM_(2.5)induced migration and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) phenotype in BEAS-2B *** PM_(2.5)treatment,the circRNAs and mRNAs levels of exosomes released by BEAS-2B cells were detected by competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) array,which contained 1664 differentially expressed circRNAs (DE-circRNAs) and 308 differentially expressed m RNAs (DE-mRNAs).By bioinformatics analysis on host genes of DE-circRNAs,vascular diseases and some pathways related to vascular diseases including focal adhesion,tight junction and adherens junction were ***,ceRNA network was constructed,and DE-mRNAs in ceRNA network were conducted functional enrichment analysis by Ingenuity Pathway Analysis,which indicated that hsa_circ_0012627,hsa_circ_0053261and hsa_circ_0052810 were related to vascular endothelial ***,it was verified experimentally that Exo^(PM2.5)could induce endothelial dysfunction by increased endothelial permeability and decreased relaxation in *** present study,we investigated in-depth knowledge into the molecule events related to PM_(2.5) toxicity and pathogenesis of vascular diseases.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, a plethora of modeling studies relatedto COVID-19 have been released. While some models stand out due to their innovative approaches, others are flawed in their methodology. To assist novices, frontline healthcare workers, and public health policymakers in navigating the complex landscape of these models, we introduced a structured framework named MODELS. This framework is designed to detail the essential steps and considerations for creating a dependable epidemic model, offering direction to researchers engaged in epidemic modeling endeavors.

Dietary intake and serum levels of copper and zinc and risk of hepatocellular carcinoma:A matched case-control study

Background:Copper and zinc are involved in the development of multiple malignancies;yet,epidemiological evidence on hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is *** study aimed to investigate the association between dietary intake and serum levels of copper and zinc with the risk of ***:A total of 434 case-control pairs matched for sex and age(±1 year)were included in this *** with newly diagnosed HCC were from the Guangdong Liver Cancer Cohort(GLCC)study,and healthy controls were from the Guangzhou Nutrition and health Study(GNHS).A semi-quantitative 79-item food frequency questionnaire(FFQ)was used to assess habitual dietary intakes of copper and *** levels of copper and zinc were measured by using inductively coupled plasma mass *** copper(Cu)/zinc(Zn)ratio was computed by dividing copper levels by zinc *** logistic regression models were performed to calculate the odds ratio(OR)and 95%confidence intervals(CI)for per 1 standard deviation increase(per-SD increase)in copper and zinc ***:Higher dietary intake(OR_(per-SD increase)=0.65,95%CI:0.44,0.96,P_(trend)=0.029)and serum levels of zinc(OR_(per-SD increase)=0.11,95%CI:0.04,0.30,P_(trend)<0.001)were both associated with a lower risk of *** analyses showed that the inverse association was only pronounced in men but not in women(P_(interaction)=0.041 for dietary zinc intake and 0.010 for serum zinc levels).Serum copper levels(OR_(per-SD increase)=2.05,95%CI:1.39,3.03,P_(trend)=0.020)and serum Cu/Zn ratio(OR_(per-SD increase)=6.53,95%CI:2.52,16.92,P_(trend)<0.001)were positively associated with HCC risk,while dietary copper intake and dietary Cu/Zn ratio were not associated with HCC ***:Zinc may be a protective factor for HCC,especially among men,but the effects of copper on HCC risk are not clear.

Magnitude and direction of temperature variability affect hospitalization for myocardial infarction and stroke:population-based evidence from Guangzhou,China

Relationships between nonoptimal temperatures and cardiovascular disease(CVD)mortality have been well ***,evidence of the association between temperature variability(TV)and CVD morbidity is *** study aimed to quantify the risk and burden of CVD-related hospitalization associated with the magnitude and direction of *** on meteorology and population-based hospitalizations for myocardial infarction(MI)and stroke were collected in Guangzhou,China,from 2013 to *** temperature variability(HTV)was measured as the standard deviation of hourly temperature records over specific exposure *** direction(upward or downward)of HTV was defined as the average daily mean temperature change relative to that of the previous day during the exposure ***-Poisson regression was applied to assess the impact of HTV after adjusting for the daily mean temperature,and the hospitalization fractions attributable to HTV were calculated.A 1℃-increase in HTV was significantly associated with a 2.24%and 1.72%increase in hospitalizations for MI and hemorrhagic stroke(HS)at lag 0–1 d,respectively,and a 1.55%increase in hospitalizations for ischemic stroke(IS)at lag 0–3 *** the study period,5.99%,4.64%,and 4.53%of MI,HS,and IS hospitalizations,respectively,were attributable to *** upward TV exerts acute effects on CVD hospital admissions,whereas the impact of downward TV generally *** findings highlight the importance of the magnitude and direction of temperature fluctuations,in addition to the mean level,in assessing the adverse health impacts of temperature variations.

TBBPA rather than its main derivatives enhanced growth of endometrial cancer via p53 ubiquitination

Tetrabromobisphenol A(TBBPA)and its derivatives widely exist in various environments and *** the available data indicate that TBBPA exposure is highly associated with the increased incidence of endometrial cancer(EC),the effects of TBBPA and its main derivatives on EC proliferation and the involved crucial mechanism remain *** present study aimed to investigate the effects of TBBPA and its derivatives under environmental concentrations on the proliferation of EC,and the crucial mechanism on the progression of EC caused by bromine fame retardants *** this research,TBBPA and two of the most common TBBPA derivatives including TBBPA bis(2-hydroxyethyl ether)(TBBPABHEE)and TBBPA bis(dibromopropyl ether)(TBBPA-BDBPE)were screened for their capacities in induced EC proliferation and explored the related mechanism by in vitro cell culture model and in vivo mice *** environmental concentrations,TBBPA promoted the proliferation of EC,the main derivatives of TBBPA(TBBPA-BHEE and TBBPA-BDBPE)did not present the similar facilitation *** ubiquitination degradation of p53 was crucial in TBBPA induced EC proliferation,which resulted in the increase of downstream cell cycle and decrease of *** further molecular docking result suggested the high affinity between TBBPA and ubiquitinated *** finding revealed the effects of TBBPA and its derivatives on EC proliferation,thus providing novel insights into the underlying mechanisms of TBBPA-caused EC.
