Background:The pressure of pursuing an athletic career simultaneously with education may set adolescent student-athletes at risk for sport and school *** the 2 life domains of student-athletes are strongly intertwined,so far,there has not been an instrument for investigating sport burnout parallel to school *** aim of the present study was to introduce a sport burnout measure for adolescents in a dual career context and investigate its validity and reliability by using confirmatory factor ***:The participants were 391 student-athletes(51%females)who filled in a questionnaire of sport burnout and background variables in the beginning of upper secondary ***:A 3-factor model or a second-order-factor model described the data better and gave better reliability indices than a 1-factor *** 3 dimensions of sport burnout were shown to be separate,but closely related *** for convergent and discriminant validity was obtained by correlating the 3 sport burnout dimensions with depressive symptoms,self-esteem,and sport task ***:The results suggest that Sport Burnout InventoryDual Career Form(SpBI-DC)is a valid and reliable instrument for investigating sport burnout among adolescent student-athletes.

AIM To analyze neuromuscular activity patterns of the trunk in healthy controls(H) and back pain patients(BPP) during one-handed lifting of light to heavy loads. METHODS After assessment of back pain(graded chronic pain scale according to von Korff) all subjects(n = 43) performed a warm-up(treadmill walking). Next, subjects were instructed to lift 3 × a 20 kg weight placed in front of them(with both hand) onto a table(height: 0.75 m). Subsequently, all subjects lifted with one hand(left-side, 3 repetitions) a weight of 1 kg(light), 10 kg(middle) and 20 kg(heavy) in random order from the ground up onto the table left of them. Trunk muscle activity was assessed with a 12-lead EMG(6 ventral/6 dorsal muscles; 4000 Hz). EMG-RMS(%) was averaged over the 3 repetitions and analyzed for the whole one-handed lifting cycle, then normalized to RMS of the two-handed lifting. Additionally, the mean(normalized) EMG-RMS of four trunk areas [right/left ventral area(VR/VL); right/left dorsal area(DR/DL)] was calculated. Data were analyzed descriptively(mean ± SD) followed by student's t-test comparing H and BPP(α = 0.05). With respect to the unequal distribution of subjects in H and BPP, a matched-group analysis was conducted. Seven healthy controls were gender- and age-matched(group H_(matched)) to the 7 BPP. In addition, task failure was calculated and compared between H/H_(matched) vs BPP using χ~2. RESULTS Seven subjects(3m/4f; 32 ± 7 years; 171 ± 7 cm; 65 ± 11 kg) were assigned to BPP(pain grade ≥ 2) and 36(13m/23f; 28 ± 8 years; 174 ± 10 cm; 71 ± 12 kg) to H(pain grade ≤ 1). H and BPP did not differ significantly in anthropometrics(P > 0.05). All subjects were able to lift the light and middle loads, but 57% of BPP and 22% of H were not able to lift the heavy load(all women). χ~2 analysis revealed statistically significant differences in task failure between H vs BPP(P = 0.03). AIM To analyze planning total hip arthroplasty(THA) with an additional anteroposterior hip view may increases the accuracy of preoperative planning in *** We conducted prospective digital planning in 100 consecutive patients: 50 of these procedures were planned using pelvic overview only(first group), and the other 50 procedures were planned using pelvic overview plus antero-posterior(a.p.) hip view(second group). The planning and the procedure of each patient were performed exclusively by the senior surgeon. Fifty procedures with retrospective analogues planning were used as the control group(group zero). After the procedure, the planning was compared with the eventually implanted components(cup and stem). For statistic analysis the x^2 test was used for nominal variables and the t test was used for a comparison of continuous *** Preoperative planning with an additional a.p. hip view(second group) significantly increased the exact component correlation when compared to pelvic overview only(first group) for both the acetabular cup and the femoral stem(76% cup and 66% stem vs 54% cup and 32% stem). When considering planning ± 1 size, the accuracy in the second group was 96%(48 of 50 patients) for the cup and 94% for the stem(47 of 50patients). In the analogue control group(group zero), an exact correlation was observed in only 1/3 of the *** Digital THA planning performed by the operating surgeon and based on additional a.p. hip view significantly increases the correlation between preoperative planning and eventual implant sizes.

AIM: To examine the effects of treatment with risedronate for 1 year on speed of sound(SOS) of the calcaneus and bone turnover markers in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis. METHODS: Thirty-eight postmenopausal women with osteoporosis who had been treated with risedronate for > 1 year were enrolled in the study. The SOS and bone turnover markers were monitored during treatment with risedronate for 1 year. RESULTS: The urinary levels of cross-linked N-terminal telopeptides of type Ⅰ collagen and serum levels of alkaline phosphatase were significantly decreased at 3 mo(-34.7%) and 12 mo(-21.2%), respectively, compared with the baseline values. The SOS increased modestly, but significantly by 0.65% at 12 mo compared with the baseline value. Treatment with risedronate elicited an increase in the SOS of the calcaneus exceeding the coefficient of variation in vivo(0.27%). CONCLUSION: The present study confirmed that risedronate suppressed bone turnover and elicited a clinically significant increase in the SOS of the calcaneus in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis.

Abstract Meniscus injury is a common disease in *** it was not treated in time,it leads to osteoarthritis which brings unbearable pain and heavy economic burden to the *** present,meniscectomy and meniscus suture are widely used in the treatment for meniscus ***,It is not ideal for poor self-healing ability of *** recruitment of endogenous stem cells is an attractive option for wounded meniscus *** reduced high-mobility group box 1 protein(HMGB1)can accelerate the regeneration of multiple tissues by endogenous stem cell activation,migration and ***(KGN)has shown to induce the chondrogenesis of the stem ***,no study has explored such effects of HMGB1 and KGN in wounded meniscus ***,in order to improve the regeneration of meniscus,we intend to use a novel bioactive microsphere which was developed by combining fully reduced high mobility group box 1(frHMGB1)and kartogenin(KGN)with alginate gel which slowly release high concentrations of HMGB1 and KGN to activate rat bone marrow stem cells(BMSCs)and promote cell *** results showed that this HMGB1–KGN microsphere released and kept high concentrations of HMGB1 and KGN in the wound area for more than 2 *** vitro experimental results showed that the HMGB1–KGN microsphere can promote cell proliferation via recruiting rat bone marrow stem cells(BMSCs)and activating the BMSCs from G_(0) to G_(Alert) stage as evidenced by cell migration testing and 5-bromo-2′-deoxyuridine(BrdU)incorporation *** vivo results indicated that this HMGB-KGN microsphere can recruit GFP-labeled BMSCs from tail vein to wounded meniscus and induce these GFP-labeled BMSCs to differentiate into *** results demonstrated that the HMGB1–KGN-containing bioactive microsphere induced cell migration in vitro and recruited the cells to wound area to promote wounded rat meniscus healing in vivo.

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is the most common of all focal neuropathies. Electrodiagnostic (EXD) of CTS has advanced to include Combined Sensory Indexes (CSI) improving the specificity and sensitivity of EXD by employing intra-hand comparative data. Ultrasound (US) is a popular tool for the assessment of CTS. Cross Sectional Area (CSA) is the most consistent US parameter, but as a single test, it has a similar false negative profile to EXD. This study describes a dual method of CTS interrogation by EXD and US with the results applied to a single numerical score;the Combined Median Score (CMS). This is the product of CSA of median nerve at Carpal Tunnel inlet and CSI. In a series of 100 suspected cases, standard EDX identified 89 positive cases, CSI identified 92 positives, CMS identified 95 positives. This new method further reduced the false negative rate in CTS.
